Terrence Terry), the King Charles Unicycle Troupe, and hand percussionist Rappo Clappo (Danny Bonet) from the Bronx

• Fire spinner Ted E, juggler Jay Green, and Jumpers in Command from Brooklyn • Exotic Belly Dancer Seleka, Queen of the Nile, from New Rochelle, NY • The Hip Pickles drummers (Chet Doboe, Christopher Scherer, and Jeremy

“30 Seconds to Fame” was conceived by Joe Revello and developed over a period of seven years by Revello and Binkow, who serve as the co-creators and executive producers. “The original inspiration came from Andy Warhol’s statement that one day everyone would have their 15 minutes of fame. Nowadays, things move much faster, and 30 seconds seemed to be just the right amount of time to keep people’s interest,” says Revello. “Plus, this show is like a remote control for viewers. If you don’t like an act, just stick around 30 seconds (or less – if the audience eliminates them) – because a new act is on the way.” To date, “30 Seconds to Fame” has featured over 400 different acts in just 16 half-hour episodes! “There’s never been a television show that presented so many different kinds of talent, competing for such a large weekly prize,” says Binkow. To be considered as a contestant, viewers can mail a VHS videotape of their performance to: 30 SECONDS TO FAME, P.O. 55851 , Sherman Oaks, CA 91413. For more information, call 1-877-547-4999 toll free. (Please note: all materials become the property of the show and cannot be returned.) “30 Seconds to Fame” is hosted by Craig J. Jackson and produced by Wild Jams Productions, LLC. Jackson previously hosted “The X Show” on f/x. A former executive producer and development executive for FOXLAB (the division that pioneered “COPS,” “America’s Most Wanted” and “South Park”), Revello has created and produced a number of series over the years, including “Rendez-View,” “Culture Clash,” and “Comic Strip Live.” Binkow was the supervising producer for “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?” and previously worked with Revello on the game shows, “Make Me Laugh” and “You’re On!,” as well as serving as the Vice President of Specials and Current Programming for the Fox Broadcasting Company.

TONIGHT on FOX’ “30 Seconds to Fame”:

24 of the most unusual acts ever seen on television!

Tune into WAGA FOX 5 at 8:30 pm for an all-new episode! There’s NEVER a dull moment on FOX’ “30 Seconds to Fame” – the fastest, wildest talent search competition in the history of television. Here’s a preview of tonight’s competitors from around the world…

• Don’t try this at home! St. Petersburg, Florida, commercial air conditioning serviceman Douglas Cyr balances a surf board, wheel barrow, and heavy utility table…on his chin!

• Imagine swallowing a billiard ball and turning sugar water back into granules. It’s a mouthful for Stevie Starr of London.

• Snoop Dogg in da house! A Japanese rapper from New York named Kumiko Sugiyama, who has worked as a graphic designer and translator.

• The Precision Lawn Chair Drill Team from the Denver area. Yep, somebody finally figured out what to do with those ugly web chairs when the party gets boring. When these guys aren’t working as fire inspectors, real brokers, snow plow operators, and roughnecks on oil rigs, they’ve actually performed during NBA and NFL half-times!

• You’ve seen the Harlem Globetrotters. Now try that on unicycles and you’ve got the King Charles Unicycle Troupe from the Bronx!

• Someone alert the Food Network! Former Apple computer salesman Bob Whitcomb of Columbus, Ohio can really fire up an audience while balancing a stove with a sizzling frying pan on his head, then chucking up the eggs for a quick omelet. Hard to believe he’s performed this trick twice at the White House!

• The human noodle! Contortionist Vladimir Malachikhin from Russia actually learned this stuff from his parents.

Page 5: "30 SECONDS TO FAME" Sample Publicity Materials by Lyla Foggia

• Aretha Franklin watch out! Meet R&B singer Gaye Arbuckle-Sneed, a Dallas substitute teacher and collector for Neiman-Marcus, can really belt them out.

• The hottest salsa dancers north of the border! Miami’s Bianka Gonzalez (originally from Venezuela) and Ariel Rodriguez (formerly of Cuba) burn up the stage with some of the sexiest Latin moves allowed in primetime.

• Red hot baton twirler Ted Pugliesi of Brooklyn works as a nightclub production manager when he’s not playing with fire.

• Get out the silverware and start practicing! Originally from Cincinnati, Joe “Mr. Spoons” Jones of New York, a former elevator operator at Macy’s, has performed for the Queen of England and made ten trips to Japan. (Wonder if he’s tried this with chop sticks.)

• George Lucas, hope you’re watching! The Robostilts from Athens, Georgia, would be perfect for your next “Star Wars” epic.

• Ever seen a dulcemer played with a fork and knife? Comic Trent Wideman of Osage Beach, Missouri, is also a whiz on sixteen different instruments, including the fiddle.

• The human pyramid! The Moroccan Tumblers may be American, but they got the idea for this muscle-building act on the beach in Tangiers, Morocco.

• Sister acrobats Kay and Sarah Glynn of Hastings, Iowa, once won a Ford Mustang at their state fair for this trick: picking up a glass of wine with their teeth while bending over backwards while perched on chairs.

ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER Tune into KDFW FOX 4 at 8 pm this Thursday (11/17)

for a full hour of the fastest talent show on television

Easily bored? Can’t hold a thought for more than a minute? Ever thought about slicing that time down to 30 seconds? (So you’re not burning brain cells unnecessarily.) Sounds like you need a dose of FOX’ “30 Seconds to Fame” – the talent show that moves as fast as a Nascar race for the millions of smart Americans who program their brains to shut down at the end of the work day! “30 Seconds to Fame” is the only show with 24 contestants per half hour. And the only place where you can see real people going after their one shot at fame…and the weekly grand prize of $25,000 – decided solely by our studio audience! Here’s just a sample of what’s coming up this Thursday (11/7) on our all-new episode…

Kevin Shelley of Richmond, Indiana, breaks a stack of boards against his forehead, one at a time. You can imagine the splitting headache this former elementary teacher has at the end. Kevin says he once tried this in England, but didn’t realize their wood is denser, so it took three tries and “almost knocked me into the ground like a hammer and nail.”

From Culver City, California…Christopher with his Village People life-size puppets singing and spinning to “YMCA”! Believe it or not, this former Chicago factory worker originally created this “troupe” as a Halloween costume.

What this guy does with a jump rope! Buddy Lee of Richman, Virginia, began as a former Marine while training for the Olympics as a wrestler.

Medieval swordfighters: The Imperial Knights – James Dawson and Thomas Montgomery – of Moreno Valley, California. This construction worker and bartender really battle it out on our stage.

A caveman dummy telling a human nerd how to meet girls?! Nick Pawlow – a lab technician in the dental industry who moved from Philadelphia to Pennsauken, New Jersey, a year ago – says he has a “warped sense of humor and fell into the act by accident.”

Page 7: "30 SECONDS TO FAME" Sample Publicity Materials by Lyla Foggia

Talk about bathroom humor! Adam Burger of Reston, Virginia, does some amazing things with toilet plungers. Wonder where he was sitting when this inspiration hit.

If you’re impressed by what Olympic competitors do on a balance beam, how about double the acrobatics on a pole held by two guys that flexes with every landing? Meet The Metchkarovs from Las Vegas. (Two of them are from Bulgaria and Moscow, respectively.)

Somebody call 911! Bob Foehlinger, a student at the University of Nebraska, nearly sets the stage on fire with his burning twirling batons.

C’mon, settle on an outfit! The Manjos Family of Orlando (by way of Russia) change clothes faster than you can blink.

Gregory Hines take a lesson! New York tapper Jared Grimes moves faster than a hummingbird.

Precision dancers and rappers The Twisted Dance Troupe from Las Vegas. Shallyn McComb-Stewart, an office clerk, says her jeans ripped in the back the first time she performed. Kalvin Phirakhong, a nurse, adds that his pants came off once during a performance while sliding across a carpeted floor.

Twirling glow sticks faster than a speeding bullet! Kyle Brender (aka Head Rush) of Oak Lawn, Illinois, formerly of Chicago and a cook in his grandmother’s restaurant, once hit himself in the eye really hard while getting the knack of unusual talent.

And coming to you from Branson…Eddy Asher, the yodeling guitarist…Gregory Popovich, who juggles while balancing on one-sided ladder…and singer Nicole Starling.

And that’s not all! Tune into KDFW FOX 4 for a full-hour of FOX’ “30 Seconds to Fame” this Thursday, starting at 8 pm. (Our all-new episode airs at 8:30 pm.)

Pitching Progress Report Client: Fox’ “30 Seconds to Fame” Effective: Wednesday, August 28, 2002 A representative of Launch Radio Networks (a division of Yahoo) contacted me yesterday as a result of seeing our Branson release on PR Newswire, and asked for (and received) all of the information about the rest of our markets – which he disseminated to all of their stations in each city. Beginning with Chicago and Orlando, I have expanded the radio stations contacted to include any appropriate station in the market – rather than just those cited on the lists I was given by DP. I’ve also sent the release to every available DJ with an e-mail address across their schedules. New York Audition – Monday, August 26 New York Daily News TV Editor Richard Huff received the release and said they will try

to fit it in tomorrow. New York Post TV columnist Michael Starr already an item on the audition on

August 16. Newsday I e-mailed the release to TV editor Andy Edelstein and left a

message. Have not been able to reach him today. New York Times TV editor Mike Hale says they have no way of using the

announcement. The only section of the paper, he thought, that might use this kind of information would the their weekly city section, which has a long lead time.

Star Ledger TV editor Steve Hedgepath asked me to send it to Matt Seitz,

which I did yesterday and tried to call. Matt was not in today, so have no way of knowing if it’s running.

The Record TV coordinator Raymond Edel says they no longer have a TV

notes column, but he will consider it for their “People” in case they’re short on celebrity gossip tomorrow.
