• VSP has become a ISO-9002 certified company produces 3 million tons liquid steel & 2.66 million tons of salable steel per annum.

Coke ovens: Takes raw coal as input and produces coke. Blast Furnace: Output is liquid iron.

COMMUNICATION

Communication is the transfer of meaningful information from transmitter to receiver.

• A Modem communication system is concerned with sorting, processing and storing of information before its transmission.

• The invention of telephone in 1876 has marked revolution in world’s telecommunica- tion system.

• Modem switching system is effected automatically as on the Strowger, Crossbar and electronic system of interconnection.

• Electromechanical switching system will afford a high degree of versatility through the program stored in the memory.

• Digital rather than analog. Speech signals will be multiplexed by pulse methods with channels interleaved in time instead of frequency.

• Time division multiplexing is a technique used for transmitting several analog message signals over a single channel.

EXCHANGE

In the field of telecommunications, a telephone exchange or telephone switch is a system of electronic components that connects telephone calls.

Manual switching system is operator controlled and Connection will be takes place by the order of the caller subscriber.

Automatic exchanges automatically senses an off hook (tip) telephone condition, provides dial tone to that phone.

THE 3000 LINES TOWNSHIP TELEPHONE EXCHANGE

• HIPATH 4000 Exchange is IP enabled fully ISDN exchange with hot swappable, and of stored program controlled using PCM & TDM.

• The design of the exchange is based on Universal Port architecture to enable Interchanging of peripheral cards like line cards and trunk cards in slots.

• ISDN: Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) is a set of communications standards for simultaneous digital transmission of voice, video, data.

• Feature of ISDN is that it integrates speech and data on the same lines, adding features that were not available in the classic telephone system.

• There are two kinds of access interfaces to ISDN defined as Basic Rate Interface (BRI), Primary Rate Interface (PRI).

• The entry level interface to ISDN is the Basic(s) Rate Interface (BRI), a 128 kbit/s service delivered over a pair of standard telephone copper wires.

• The other ISDN access available is the Primary Rate Interface (PRI), which is carried over an E1 (2048 kbit/s) in most parts of the world.

3.SWITCHING EQUIPMENT

• Switching equipment is housed in 4 cabinets that are divided into CONTROL UNIT& PERIPHERAL UNIT

• CALL PROCESSING: Total call processing is divided into two parts a) signaling b) speech transfer(slc)• Different types of cards using: SLMA 24, RGE, SIUX, DPC-5, HDD/MOD

4.MAC CONSOLES

For MAN MACHINE INTERFACE: Interaction is of command prompt type and not a graphical user interface(GUI) based.

For CALL BILLING: All the out going calls or organizations can be recorded into a PC with the help of this system. provides call billing extension

For IVRS: By dialing different codes different functions will be takes place.

SLMAC: it interfaces between the system and analog devices converts analog – digital and digital - analog

5.MAIN DISTRIBUTION FRAME EQUIPMENT

• All the subscriber lines and junction lines from exchange are terminated on one side and field cables on other side.

• it provides protection to exchange by employing PTC and GD tubes.

• The Exchange side of MDF consists of six columns of 100 pair module blocks and The line side consists of 12 columns of 100 pair module blocks each.

• AUTOMATIC LINE TESTING EQUIPMENT: MDF is provided with ALTE. It is a PC based system through which the testing of the subscriber is done.

• In township exchange KRONE-MDF is being used which is provided with IPM s so as to protect exchange equipment from high currents and voltages.
