Facing Tough Ethical Decisions?

Then consider these thirteen questions:



1. Have you defined the problem accurately?



2. How would you define the problem if you stood on the other side of the fence?



3. How did this situation occur in the first place?



4. Who was involved in this situation in the first place?



5. What is your intention in making this decision?



6. How does this intention compare with the likely

results?



7. Who could your decision or action injure?



8. Can you engage the affected parties in a

discussion of the problem before you make your

decision?



9. Are you confident that your position will be as

valid over a long period as it seems now?



10. Could you disclose, without qualms, your

decision or action to your boss, your CEO, the board of directors, your family or

society as a whole?



11. What is the symbolic potential of your action if

understood?



12. Under what conditions would you allow exceptions

to your stand?



13. What would Jesus do?

surrender myself to walk in the Word in the marketplace. Your word living in me produces the Life in this world.

• The word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. It makes my way plain before me.

• I boldly and confidently say that my heart is fixed and established on the solid foundation – the Living Word of God! Amen



Learning, application and commitment: James 1: 22-25

• “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.

• Do what it says. • Anyone who listens to the word but does not do

what it says is like a man who looks at his face in the mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

• But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it - he will be blessed in what he does.” (NIV)
