Arizona’s Economy has been booming with more people choosing the state than nearly anywhere in the country including a highlyeducated labor force and strong net-worth retirees. Arizona ranked third in the nation in percentage growth rate in 2019, according toestimates by the US Census Bureau, only Texas and Florida added more residents. Arizona increased by more than 120,000 residentsfrom 2018 to 2019, a growth rate of nearly 1.7 percent, outpacing states like Utah (1.662), Texas (1.283), Washington (1.210),Colorado (1.185), Oregon (0.857) and New Mexico (0.195).

Yavapai County is near the center of the state and is one of the four original Arizona counties created by the 1st Arizona TerritorialLegislature. It is larger than three U.S. states (Rhode Island, Delaware and Connecticut) and the District of Columbia combined. By 2017Census Bureau Estimates placed the population of Yavapai County at 228,168. This represented a 24.2% growth in the population since 2000.

The Prescott MSA houses ±82,500 residents within the combined tri-city limits of Prescott, Prescott Valley and Chino Valley with a populationbase of approximately ±145,000. The City of Prescott is the County Seat with a trade area of approximately ±220,000, the majority of thoseliving within a 10 mile radius of downtown Prescott. The city’s growth has been steady at about 4% per year for the past decade and is expectedto continue at that rate with an estimated five year market growth projected at 16.2% within a 30 mile radius.

Prescott settled into a strong pace of economic recovery following the 2008 recession. The retail service area extends 50 miles from the center ofPrescott. Many residents in outlying areas travel to Prescott for medical services, employment, entertainment, government offices and shopping.Approximately 500,000 visit overnight each year. Those visitors include a growing number of people from the Phoenix area, who make the 90 minutetrip during the summer to escape the desert heat, as well as the fall and winter visitors looking to take advantage of the year round mild and sunnyclimate. Population gains, which are running more than twice the national average thanks to positive net migration.

Expedia recentlynamed Prescott one of the “Coolest Downtowns in North America”. Aneasy trip from Phoenix, it’s only 100 miles away but feels completelydifferent. It has a four-season climate, thanks to its mile-high locationin Prescott National Forest, the largest stand of Ponderosa Pines in theworld. The surrounding National Forest holds countless opportunitiesfor hikers, cyclists, equestrians and campers with a network of morethan 450 miles of trails winding through the city and into the adjacentNational Forest.
