The counsellors CCounsellors are each assigned a group for the summer. They’re responsible for the daily scheduling of activities for their groups, which includes their time spent in the pool and rainy day activities. We’re happy to have many familiar faces returning this year as well as some exciting new additions to the team!

The Junior The Junior LeadersJunior Leaders (or JLs) are part of a voluntary training program here at MWDC. They are partnered with counsellors to assist the group and to develop their leadership skills while learning from the best!

The Leaders in Training The The Leaders in Training (or LITs) are also part of a training program which focuses on leadership and skill development. They have daily meetings and workshops and afterwards join their assigned groups for the rest of the day. LITs are with a different group every two weeks.

SpeSpecialists Each week we have different specialists at camp who will introduce campers to new activities. These activities will range from yoga and soccer to tie-dye and environmentalism. What a treat to have these special guests at camp!

Camp Mission

Our Our team is committed to providing children with a safe place to enjoy the summer and to grow as individuals and as members of the community. Through a variety of familiar and new activities and experiences we are confident that your child will develop valuable skill sets and cherished memories.

The TeamWe’re so excited about this year’s team, and we know you will be too! So here’s who you’ll be seeing around this summer:

Camp Vision

At MontAt Montreal West Day Camp we are passionate about our community. Throughout the summer we coordinate several fundraising activities, as we believe children are more likely to be involved in a community that gives back. Our goal is to develop confident, respectful, and adventurous young people through engaging activities, weeweekly trips and our training programs, where lifelong friendships are formed.

Office

WWe’ve done some restructuring at camp this year to best support the camp community and ensure you get the information you need, when you need it. Our management team has coordinated a team of talented, passionate and dedicated individuals; whose goal it will be to deliver an unforgettable summer both in the office (a(administratively) as well as out on the fields, the gyms and the pool.

Pool time

We love the pool staff (almost as much as we love pool time!) Every group at MWDC has a daily pool time. With the supervision and help of the lifeguards we’ll have lots of time to splash and swim together. All campers will perform a swim test at the beginning of camp, this will help both the day camp and pool staff identify those campers that may need a little extra help in the pool. Along with this, there are some other very important pool rules we thought you should know:

1 Listen to the lifeguards (and learn their whistle signals) 2 No shoes/sandals on pool deck 3 Swimsuits only, no street clothes in the pool 4 All long hair must be tied back/up 5 All swimmers must shower before entering the pool

Swimming Lessons

Some of our campers take swimming lessons at the Montreal West Aquatic Centre, if the lesson time is during or right after camp, day camp staff will bring your child to the pool. For more information regarding swimming lessons please contact the pool at (514) 489-6472.

Lunch Pogram

We offer a daily lunch program for a cost of $30/week. Solly’s will be providing the lunches (peanut free). For more information about the lunch program and to see the menu, please refer to the lunch program form.

Extended Care

We’re making a big effort this year to provide more programming and special activities on a regular basis for extended care. We’re looking forward to extended care being a fun and interactive environment for campers to meet new friends. Extended care is available everyday for an additional cost.

A.M. Extended begins at 7:30 am. Parents must be present to sign their child in.P.M. Extended ends at 5:30pm. All children must be signed out by 5:30pm.

Week 9 Extension

For those of us who just aren’t ready for the fun to end on August 21. We offer an additional week of outings and activities. For more information contact the Community Centre.
