    Foreword

The AS 355 N twin engine version of the ECUREUIL family is powered with 2

TURBOMECA ARRIUS 1A engines of 520 shp (388 kW) each. It benefits from the

FADEC system (Full Authority Digital Engine Control) which makes piloting easier and

safer. it is the most affordable twin-engine helicopter in the market.

Thanks to its two engines and its redundant systems, the AS 355 N is able to perform

missions such as flights over water, or hostile environments by day and night.

Equipped with options required by the local regulation, it is compliant with the JAR

OPS 3 regulation requirements for operations in performance class 1. More particularly,

it is totally suited for police and MEDEVAC operations over large cities, aerial work and

offshore support operations. It is fully Category A and IFR certified. It can also be

equipped with a 3 axis autopilot.

Thanks to its single engine flight performance, the AS 355 N is able to operate from

building rooftops, to work near power lines or to ensure safe harbour pilot

    transportation.

Criteria for Category A or JAR OPS 3 operations

The twin-engined helicopters that are :

certified according to FAR Part 27

compliant with the FAR Part 29 requirements for CAT.A engine insulation

compliant with the JAR Part 29 requirements, as clarified in IEM OPS 3480

    have the Category A equivalence.

The ECUREUIL AS355N complies with the above-mentioned requirements and thus has the Category Aequivalence, which is mandatory for JAR OPS 3 operations in performance class 1 and 2.

All the conditions relating to the helicopter that are required for the JAR OPS 3 Performance Class 1operations are met by the ECUREUIL AS355N as soon as :

    1. the aircraft is equipped with the "Engines fire-extinguishing system".This installation is available as an optional item on new helicopter (commercial reference05-22004-00-CI) or it can be installed after delivery according to the Service Bulletin n 26-01.

    2. the weight conditions for the procedure on helipad are respected. These are described in the FlightManuel Supplement n 2 "Procedures and performance data on clear airfield and helipad with oneengine inoperative - Normal mode and Training mode".

3 All other equipment items, required by the local flight regulations of the country concerned, are

    installed and serviceable.
