The hotel is under man- agement by Kimpton Ho- tels, based in San Francis- co, as its eighth hotel in Southern California and first in Orange County. The Kimpton portfolio includes 64 hotels and more than 70 restaurants, bars and lounges nationwide. “We’ve been looking for the right opportunity to partner with Kimpton as the recognized leader in the boutique sector and when this came along, we jumped at the chance to work with them,” said Troy Furbay, DiamondRock’s CIO. The hotel is within The Strand, a mixed-use com- mercial development in- cluding retail, office and parking, which also changed hands in Febru- ary. Cypress Equities in Dallas bought the 100,000- square-foot center for an undisclosed amount from CIM Group of Los Angeles. The Shorebreak in- cludes 157 guest rooms, wa- terfront views, 3,920 square feet of meeting space and a fitness center. Kimpton has brought in Brent McNally as its gener- al manager for Shore- break. McNally previously was an assistant general manager for a Kimpton at its Cypress Hotel in Silicon Valley. Aimee Grove, a Kimpton representative, told the Re- gister there were no imme- diate renovation or décor changes planned. Guests will find traditional Kimp- ton amenities, such as themed robes and yoga mats in the room, Grove said. Executive Chef Brian Drosenos at the hotel’s res- taurant, Zimzala, will stay on under Kimpton man- agement. The hotel is at 500 Pacif- ic Coast Highway. Kimpton was acquired in January by hospitality giant InterContinental Ho- tels Group, which is based in the U.K. DiamondRock Hospital- ity is a self-advised real es- tate investment trust that owns 28 hotels with more than 10,700 rooms. The company has positioned its hotels to generally be oper- ated under the leading glo- bal brands, such as Hilton, Marriott and Westin, as well as lifestyle hotels. On the move Southland Industries, an engineering, construc- tion and energy solutions provider, has hired Richard Holzer as the managing principal engineer of the company’s Southern Cali- fornia division in Garden Grove. Holzer will lead the division’s design engineer- ing, building information modeling and construction departments. He will also help guide engineer- ing servic- es at a re- gional and national le- vel. Bob Pe- terson was hired as vice president of invest- ments for Passco Cos., an Irvine-based real estate firm that focuses on multi- family and commercial properties throughout the nation. Peterson will work to identify, negotiate and acquire industrial and re- tail properties in the U.S. Before joining Passco, he was the managing director at Buchanan Street Partn- ers in Newport Beach. Milestones Century 21 Real Estate awarded Century 21 Dis- covery in Fullerton the Art Bartlett 2100 Cup Award. The award is given to a company that demon- strates the highest levels of leadership, customer ser- vice and professionalism. It has only been awarded 13 times in the 44-year history of Century 21. The Fullerton company, at 100 W. Valencia Mesa Drive, accepted the award at the Century 21 Global Conference in Washington, D.C. Unire Real Estate Group in Brea is celebrating 15 years in business this year. Unire Group has grown from managing 1 million square feet in 2000 to more than 35 million square feet in the beginning of 2015, ad- ding more than 6 million square feet to its portfolio last year. The company specializes in property, transaction, construction and asset management, with properties through- out the six-county South- ern California region, as well as the Greater San Francisco Bay area, and Las Vegas. New ventures San Juan Capistrano- based energy solutions company Regatta Solu- tions has acquired Wedge Consulting, a Costa Mesa- based energy efficiency and sustainability firm. The acquisition will allow several services for Regat- ta, including bench mark- ing, retro-commissioning and energy analysis for complex buildings, includ- ing laboratories and data centers. Regatta distri- butes, maintains, engi- neers and consults for Cap- stone microturbines, which are used as alterna- tive methods of power gen- eration. Costa Mesa-based Do- nahue Schriber Realty Group, a real estate invest- ment trust that specializes in shopping centers, re- ceived $250 million in cap- ital from investors. The money will fund acquisi- tions focused on grocery- anchored neighborhood and community shopping centers. It also will go to- ward power centers along Coastal California to the Pacific Northwest. An affiliate of Palo Alto- based Menlo Equities has bought Campus South County in Foothill Ranch from New York-based Met- Life. The Shorebreak in Hun-tington Beach is under newmanagement after the bou-tique hotel was sold lastmonth to DiamondRockHospitality.

The hotel is under man-agement by Kimpton Ho-tels, based in San Francis-co, as its eighth hotel inSouthern California andfirst in Orange County. TheKimpton portfolio includes64 hotels and more than 70restaurants, bars andlounges nationwide.

“We’ve been looking forthe right opportunity topartner with Kimpton asthe recognized leader inthe boutique sector andwhen this came along, wejumped at the chance towork with them,” said TroyFurbay, DiamondRock’sCIO.
