PURPOSE AND TARGET AUDIENCEThe increasing number of acutely ill and injured pediatric patients presenting to Emergency Departments and offices requires that emergency physicians, pediatric emergency physicians, pediatricians, family physicians, pediatric nurse practitioners and physician assistants be prepared to assess, diagnose and expertly treat a wide variety of pediatric emergencies. Diagnostic and therapeutic practices continue to evolve, and patient care recommendations and guidelines continue to improve. This course will feature state-of-the-art teaching formats, including evidence-based lectures, small group discussions, workshops and simulation in procedural skills, resuscitation, and diagnostic reasoning.
COURSE OBJECTIVESUpon completion of this course, participants will be able to:• Describe the clinical presentation, diagnostic
criteria and treatment options for children with COVID-19 induced multi-system inflammatory syndrome
• Elaborate on areas of consensus and controversy in managing pediatric trauma
• Describe newer indications and uses for point-of-care ultrasound in the pediatric emergency department
• Recognize dermatologic conditions in patients with darker skin complexions
• Discuss key aspects of legal and illicit use of marijuana in children

OPTIONAL SESSION( limited for four attendees per session)TeleSimulation — Remotely co-lead a simulated pediatric resuscitation! You will have one screen to monitor feedback and another screen to watch and direct two physicians and one nurse in the emergent care of a simulated patient. In one hour, you will co-lead one simulation and observe two colleagues co-lead another. Everyone will learn and participate in the debrief!
