The 3-dBcoupler can be used:

• As a decoupled power spliter with a ratio o 1:1

• For the decoupled combining o two transmitters with a

requency spacing as narrow as desired (at 3 dB loss)

• For the decouped combining o two receivers with requencyspacing as narrow as desired

• For the decoupled combining o two transmitter/receiver units,

whose integrated duplexers are within the same requency

range

• As a requency-independent 90° phase shiter

• As a component to orm combiners

Function:

The 3-dB coupler has our ports, two o which are decoupledrom each other. For example, eective power entering into

port 1 is distributed into ports 2 and 3. Port 4 is decoupled and

without power i ports 2 and 3 are ideally matched. In practicean absorber o suitable power at port 4 is to be planned in

accordance with the mismatch o ports 2 and 3.

Decoupled combining can be achieved via the diagonallyopposite ports 2 and 3 or 1 and 4.
