Adsorption dryerecodry KEN-MT multitronic

“Heatless” adsorption dryersfrom the ZANDER factory benefitfrom a simple but effectivedesign and many years experien-ce manufacturing for all climateconditions. The principle advan-tages of the KEN-MT range are

• Self cleaning wedge wire des-iccant support on the wet side

• High efficiency desiccant• The main and blow-off valves

are separately controlled• Over dimensioned and reliable

non-return valves

These guarantee a continuousservice reliability and rapid avai-lability.

The secure basis…

The KEN-MT adsorption dryersuse the multitronic Microproces-sor control as the controlsystem on the dryer.

When the multitronic Micropro-cessor control is used in con-junction with the pressure dew-point sensor ZHM100, it allowsa precise monitoring of the loadon the dryer in a system wherethe compressed air demandfluctuates. The dryer then opera-tes in its most economicalmode.

The combining of the adsorptiondryer KEN-MT with the “Advan-ced Filter” ZANDER XP and ZPfilters means you are buying themost efficient system with secu-rity!

...adsorbs and regenerates...adsorption the desiccant retainsthe moisture contained in thecompressed air. ZANDER utili-ses exclusively high capacitymolecular sieve type desiccants. These desiccants have a longservice life at high input tempe-ratures or low pressure dewpoints.Regeneration takes place incounterflow with respect to

adsorption. A fraction of thedried compressed air is decom-pressed to atmospheric pressu-re and passed through the des-iccant bed which is to be rege-nerated. The moisture whichwas retained during the adsorp-tion step is released into andremoved with the stream of dryregenerating air.

The regenerating air requirementof 14.3% for cold regeneratedadsorption dryers is based on:• Working pressure 007 bar • Inlet temperature 035 °C• Pressure dew point –40 °Cwith a cycle of

- 5 minutes adsorption, - 4 minutes desorption and - 1 minute pressure build-up.

The ZANDER 10 minute cycle,

...in the ZANDER 10 minute cyclewith 5 minutes adsorption, gives 12 load alternations perhour. The customary 6 minutecycle of market competitors, with 3 minutes adsorption, gives20 load alternations per hourand thus necessarily requires5.6% more regenerating air.ZANDER 10 minute cycle opera-tion implies energy saving andless wear.

multitronic, the control systemwith new trendsetting functionsand new design, perfectly matched to cold regeneratedadsorption dryers of the series K-MT, but with consideration ofhighly effective adaptation of theadsorption dryer for utilisationalso under extremely diversifiedoperating conditions.

From permanently visible statusindication to pressure dew-pointcontrol of the adsorption dryerwith the multitronic system, theadvantage for the operator isconsiderable.

The multitronic system, accom-modated in a clearly designed

readily accessible switching cabinet:

• is a microprocessor controlsystem for all ZANDERheatless dryer systems

• permits flexible adjustmentof the drying times up to 240 h

• with LED's on the front side for the individual functionssuch as- Operation- Adsorption - Desorption

• Selector switch I-0-2 for fixedcycle or variable cycle for synchronisation with the compressor

and as option:• direct pressure dew point

measurement includingdigital display

• with floating output for pressu-re dew point limit value

• and possibility for the custo-mer to set the desired dewpoint optionally in the rangefrom –25°C to –40°C

The load situation for adsorptiondryers is subject to continualfluctuation caused by pressurechanges and changing inputtemperature with correspondingvariable moisture load. The com-bination of the microprocessorcontrol system multitronic withthe dew point measuring deviceZHM 100 from Zander makes itpossible for the first time, astrendsetting and efficient unit,to control also smaller coldregenerated adsorption dryers inload-dependent manner. In principle, a change of theinput variable affects the outputvariable, i.e. the load situationat the input of the dryer affectsthe pressure dew point at theoutput of the dryer in the courseof time. The limit value pressuredew point for switchover can beset by the customer to any des-ired value in the range from -25°C to –40°C.

...which pays offThe adaptation of the requiredregeneration energy of theadsorption dryer to all conceiva-ble load situations is performedcontinuously and automaticallyby the multitronic controlsystem. Whereas the regenera-tion time is held constant, theadsorption time is varied exactlyproportional to the load situa-tion. The signal „economy cycle“ indi-cates: This operating mode

saves energy and considerablyreduces the operating costs. A special feature of the multitro-nic control system is the perma-nent adjustment with respect tothe set limit value. Advantage:Only the actually required frac-tion of regenerating air is used, without the customary excess inother systems.

Adsorption dryers treat compres-sed air, which requires a lowhumidity with a dew point of -25˚C or better. Two adsorbervessels continuously work in

The vessels are manufactured tothe latest international codes.ZANDER also offers vessel con-struction following, for exampleChina Stamp; SdM; UDT; ASME;ISPESEL etc.

parallel, one drying by adsorp-tion and one desorbing.

ZANDER adsorption dryers KEN-MT use a stainless steelself cleaning wedge wire desic-cant support on the inlet to the vessel. The wedge wire support is a very effective water separator:

A look inside an adsorption dryer

is the ideal system supplement, which is utilised whenever cleaningof the compressed air is necessaryin addition to drying it. Adsorption dryers of the Series K-MT and activated carbon dryersof the Series AK constitute a relia-ble purification unit which meetsextreme requirements when thecompressed air must not only bydried, but also be odourless andfree from oil.Dependable constant high quality inthe course of time is achieved withcareful process engineering design. Co-operation of the individual com-ponents such as the pre-filter ofthe Series XP, the adsorption dryer

of the Series K-MT, the activatedcarbon stage AK and the after-filter of the series ZP ensure maximum reduction of theconcentrations: • residual moisture down to

–70°C• residual oil fraction down to

0.003 mg/m3

and corresponding to the highestquality grade DIN/ISO 8573-1.The purification unit KA-MT is pre-destined for utilisation in laboratorytechnology, in the foodstuffs indu-stry, in the pharmaceutical indu-stry, in semiconductor production,in painting shops and for integra-tion in air conditioning systems.

KEA-MT, as unit with activated carbon stage

• As the compressed air passesfrom a small pipe into a largevessel, the velocity is reducedthus making the adsorptionmore efficient.

• The desiccant is protected fromcondensed water.

• The wedge wire desiccant sup-port guarantees that the com-pressed air flows through thecomplete desiccant bed andavoids channelling.

The KEN-MT range of dryers usesonly the finest desiccants in theadsorber vessels. This is usuallymolecular sieve or equivalent. Thisdesiccant material in combinationwith the vessel construction ensu-res the most effective result. Thevessel construction and the defi-ned quantity of desiccant controlsprecisely the dwell time of thecompressed air through the desic-cant bed. This means that thecompressed air is dryed effective-ly and economically.

ZANDER has decisively contributed tothe market trend for adsorption dryers. The new generation of adsorption dryersrevolutionises the cost-benefit ratio: Highest quality and safety with favoura-ble operating costs.
