. FCH 에 전달되는 EVRC, SMV data 에 비하여, VoIP 사용시 PPP/IP/UDP/RTP header가Voice Data크기의 배 이상의 무선 bandwidth를 소모하므로, header compression이요구된다.

. 무선 자원은 유한 하며 단위 FA/Sector당 Data Throughput의 성능개선을 위한 노력을고려 할 때, RTP/UDP/IP 뿐만 아니라 PPP header까지 완전히 제거 하여 FCH을 통한기본음성 통신 시의 무선효율을 요구하고 있다.

. 이에 따라, 다양한 HC algorithm이 제시되고 있으며, 이에 따른 Air I/F의 보완까지요구된다.

. VoIP traffic flow 인 경우 MS와 PDSN의 PPP link에서 header striping/regeneration 적용
