3G / WCDMA PROJECT
Name of the Project: Signal Processing in WCDMA Radio Network System
Objective : UTRAN (UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network) is one of the important subsystems in 3G / WCDMA architecture It connects the 3G mobile user to the WCDMA backbone for getting connectivity and user applications. This project gives exposure on UTRAN nodes , their connectivity structure and the signal processing carried out by each part of the UTRAN system .
Inputs : (I) Node B (ii) Radio Network Controller
(iii). OMC - R
Practical: 1. Study of Sub systems including antenna system in Node B 2. Configuration / Reconfiguration of Node B 3. Configuration of RNC 4. VSWR Measurement 5. Fault / Alarm management
Observations : Practical observations by the way of 1. Viewing the existing configuration of UTRA through OMCR2. Viewing the of different events and processing outputs3. Viewing of different logs connected with UTRAN

GSM PROJECT 1
Name of the Project: Radio Network planning in GSM Technology
Objective : Designing of air interface in GSM is one of the vital part in GSM planning. The main objective of achieving the proper coverage depends upon the way in which the RF link is planned. This project involves in a study of how the air interface in mobile environment is planned and engineered.
Inputs : (i). RF Planning tool (ii) .Digital map
(iii). Parameters like latitude, longitude, ARFCN in RF environment (iii).System/Laptop
Practical: 1. Preparing Digital map suitable for RF planning 2. Selection of locations and Creation of sites 3. Assigning proper parameters for the sites created 4. Calculation of different coverage levels for the sites created
Observations : The following practical observations are made based on the calculations on the planned coverage areas.
1. Whether frequency planning has been done correctly so that there is no interference
2. Whether optimum coverage is achieved in all the areas included.3. To ensure that there is no left out area in the planned coverage map

GSM PROJECT 2
Name of the Project: Call Processing and analyzing SS7 messages in GSM switching Network
Objective : Network and Switching System is the core network of GSM architecture. Switching of calls within the GSM Network and outside the GSM Network is handled by MSC by querying Location registers Viz. HLR and VLR. This project involves the study of complete call flow in GSM Network by analyzing the call management messages through protocol Analyser.
Inputs : (i). MSC + HLR + VLR
(ii). OMC-R (iii) TEST SIM
(iv) UTILITY TOOLS
Practical:1. Study of GSM Architecture and Interfaces and SS7 Messages.2. Configuring GSM Channels in OMC-R.3. Understanding Mobile originated Call and Mobile Terminated call.4. Creation of Trunks and Routes5. Making calls of different scenarios.
Observations : Practical observations by the way of 1. Analyzing the existing internal configuration of BSS and NSS. 2. Viewing the various configuration of Channels in OMC-R.3. Testing the trunks and routes created with TRAVER tool.4. Understanding the structure of SS7 messages. 5. Analyzing the SS7 messages of different call scenarios through Protocol

Name of the Project: Radio Signal Processing and analyzing the signal flow in GSM Network
Objective : RNS is one of the important subsystem in GSM architecture It connects the mobile user to the GSM backbone for switching. This project involves in a study on the functions carried out by each part of the system and how the nodes or equipments involved in GSM Radio network are connected to each other .
Inputs : (i). BTS(ii). BSC
(iii) Tilcoam(iv). OMC - R
Practical: 1. Study of Sub systems including antenna system in BTS 2. Connectivity between the nodes 3. Software loading mechanism in BSC 4 .Analyzing the BTS signal parameters 5 .Configuration of all Radio Network elements
Observations : Practical observations by the way of 1. Viewing the existing configuration of RNS through OMCR2. Viewing the of different types of alarms and events3. Viewing of different logs connected with RNS

Name of the Project: HLR Datafilling and Subscriber Management in GSM switching Network
Objective : Network and Switching System is the core network of GSM architecture. Switching of calls within the GSM Network and outside the GSM Network is handled by MSC by querying Location registers Viz. HLR and VLR. This project involves the study of subscriber management by creating subscribers by assigning various basic services, supplementary services to them, the Location Management with HLR&VLR and SS7 signalling messages between MSC, HLR and VLR.
Inputs : (i). MSC + HLR + VLR
(ii). OMC-S (iii) TEST SIM
(iv) UTILITY TOOLS
Practical: 1. Study of GSM Architecture and Interfaces. 2. Study of Mobile Services Switching centre , HLR, VLR.
3. SS7 Messages. 4. Datafilling HLR tables for Subscriber creation, Services activation, SIM
replacement and Roaming. 5. Location registration of mobile subscriber
Observations : Practical observations by the way of 1. Analyzing the existing internal configuration of NSS 2. Subscriber creation, activation, replacement and deletion3. Testing various subscriber services4. Viewing the subscriber profile in HLR and in VLR with location details.5. Analyzing the SS7 messages between MSC, HLR and VLR.

Name of the Project: RF Optimization of GSM Coverage Area using tool. (AGILANT Tool)
Objective: This project involves methods and procedures followed In collection of different quality and capacity parameters in GSM coverage area and post processing of data for
identifying the coverage problems in the network.
Inputs: GSM BTS OMC-R. Agilant Tool
Practical: 1. Viewing the OMC_R Daily statistics report 2. Analysing Quality / Capacity parameters 3. Collection of data using optimization platform software 4 Post Processing by Analysis Reporter software
Observations: Practical observations taken in OMC-R and Tool.

CDMA Network planning and measurement
Name of the Project: Planning & Measurement of RF Coverage Area using tool. (ATOLL Tester)
Objective: Proper coverage in any CDMA Network depends upon the way in which the link is planned and engineered. This project involves in a study of how the air interface in mobile environment is planned and engineered.
Inputs: CDMA BTS CDMA Sub Eqpts. Atoll tester
Practical: 1. Preparing Digital map suitable for CDMA NW planning 2. Selection of locations and Creation of sites 3. Assigning proper parameters for the sites created 4. Calculation of different coverage levels for the sites created
Observations: Practical observations taken using Atoll Tester.
