There are two basic formats used in radio communication, analog and digital.
The difference between the analog format and the digital format is that using analog, a person’s voice signal is transmitted over the air, while the digital format uses a string of 1s and 0s to represent the voice signal.
If someone were to lock on to the frequency used for an analog conversation they could actually hear the users’ voices.
In the digital format the observer would need to decode the 1s and 0s before hearing the conversation.

The GPRS brings few new network elements to the GSM network. The most important ones are the Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN) and the Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN). Another important new element is the Point-To-Multipoint Service Center (PTM-SC) which is dedicated to the PTM services in the GPRS network. Also a new network element is the Border Gateway (BG) which is mainly needed for the security reasons and is situated on the connection to the Inter-PLMN backbone network. The Inter-PLMN and Intra-PLMN backbone network are also new elements, both IP-based networks. In addition there will be few new gateways in the GPRS system like the Charging Gateway and the Legal Interception Gateway

There are multiple spreading processes involved in IS-95, using three different spreading codes.
The process resembles shipping a package containing a diskette on which data has been recorded. The disk is put in a cardboard mailer for protection. The mailer is then put in an overnight letter package with an address label. The package is shipped through the shipping transmission system in the company of many other unrelated packages. The recipient tears open the overnight letter package and finds the cardboard mailer inside. She rips open the cardboard mailer and finds the floppy disk. The disk is placed in a drive and the data is recovered.
CDMA uses spreading codes to play the roles of the containers. The spreading codes accomplish protection of their contents and make it possible to address the shipment to its proper destination.
