The BCYF Story
The Foundation was organized in 1993 to honor the memory of Catalino D. Yap Sr., Founder of a number of schools around 1945 including St. Anthony College of Technology Pampanga, precursor of the Sact College System, one of whose programs is S.A.O.P. (Saint Anthony
Outreach Program), which includes BCYF as one of its key offices.
Starting with scholarships and programs which assisted those affected by Pinatubo, the Foundation quickly got involved with Sports, Education and Institution-‐Building projects till about the mid 2000s when there was a fortuitous meeting between Mr. Antonio Yap and Dr. Lilian Sison, then Dean of the UST Graduate School. Over the next few years, Mr. Yap would
agree to organize the First Philippine Conference on Research in CSR while preparing suggestions on how UST might be able to get more involved in CSR, particularly CSR
Research. It was clear to Mr. Yap that the wonderful work of various corporations in helping various segments of society, based on anecdotal and other evidence, would only be better
served with such research at UST, at BCYF, and other institutions.
Starting with four Institutes and five Centers in its first 20 years, the Foundation now is organized departmentally into: CRI, ISED, CSR Today, Consulting and Business Services
(CBS), and SPAME (special projects).

Message
Dear Participants, We welcome you to the 3rd instalment of our 3-‐part introduction on CSR for Higher Education Institutions we started through our 1st Conference in 2011 – “CSR 101”. This CSR Research Conference started because of a string of suggestions from Dr. Lilian Sison then Dean of the UST Graduate School. Last September 2, 2011, we invited Dr. Wayne Visser to come and share with us the results of his 40-‐country study on CSR practices. To sum up his key message – “If it is required, it is not CSR”. JJ Moreno was kind enough to review the entire history of governance and its twin CSR in the last couple of decades in the Philippines. Dr. Ben Teehankeee and Ms. Lydia Sarmiento presented the state of CSR Research in the academe, particularly La Salle, for the former, and on the activities of LCF for the latter. In the 2nd conference, the message was that “Doing Good is Not Good Enough”, with Dr. Thomas sharing the status of CSR in ASEAN. During this trail end of our trilogy we will try to show that “CSR is Not Just for Business”. The Conference will showcase the research of some Universities, on the CSR Knowledge in their schools. We await Dr. Rebecca Chung Hee Kim of Nottingham University, who will give us “Current Trends in CSR Research”, Dr. Raul Sunico who will talk about “CSR and the Arts”, and Ms. Maria Ressa who will share her take on “Volunteerism and CSR”. Equally important, we look forward to listening to the participants’ current involvement in CSR and how it can become a significant part of each Tertiary Schools’ DNA. Thank you to all the Presidents, Research Directors, VPAAs, Heads of Extension Offices, NSTP Coordinators, and the Faculty Members interested in spreading the gospel of CSR – which BCYF believes should be a necessary part of everyone’s education. We take personal note of the presence of the Student Leaders, Volunteers, and CSR Practitioners in the Conference. We look forward to meeting all of you during the Conference. Sincerely yours,
Mr. Antonio S. Yap Mr. Gil Miguel T. Puyat Abp. Paciano B. Aniceto, D.D. Founder and Chairman Conference Chair Archbishop of San Fernando BCYF 3rd Philippine Conference Chairman, SACT College System

CSR World was created to ensure that the 'CSR experience' of BCYF interns, volunteers and employees, and those generally interested in CSR is as comprehensive as possible, from wherever they are. CSR Stories, the CSR Bulletin and WikiCSR are just the initial internet and social media salvo of options for the caring and ethical individual or group who is interested in participating in the dream of changing society a step at a time through social entrepreneurship and/or CSR. CSR Life gives an array of options (e.g. Homestay) to better understand CSR. It aims to provide options for young people to experience and learn CSR first – hand. BCYF -‐ CT organises "CSR Youth Fora" in HEIs, runs various school-‐focused Caravans, and has run the First National CSR Youth Congress.
The CSR Research Institute is the Organizer of the National CSR Research Conference which is on its 3rd edition this year.
