It’s been a busy year with a lot going on. Our Premier Truck Group dealerships are performing well and I hope everyone is having a great summer.

Earlier this year we launched our first bi-annual employee engagement survey. Almost 94% of employees participated in the survey, which resulted in great actionable feedback that will be used to make Premier Truck Group better. The open and honest feedback was shared with all employees and action plans are being developed by location to improve upon identified areas of opportunity.

Two topics I’m personally driving are training and communication. These two topics were consistent across most locations and it is evident we need to implement curriculum on many topics and improve upon how we communicate across geo-graphically diverse operational locations. We had a great start with our inaugural NADA class and APEX leadership training on July 24th but we need to do a lot more. Watch for more announcements in these two areas in the months ahead.

It’s long overdue but we were finally able to find a suitable property to expand our Tulsa body shop operations. Located less than a mile from the main dealership, Terry Morrow and his team will relocate later this year to a brand new 25,000 square foot facility. We are in the final stages of preparing the lease and submitting engineering plans to the county for building modifications that we plan to make in advance of beginning operations. This new facility will enable Terry to expand business and with a brand new paint booth, frame machine and overhead crane, they will improve their efficiency and service to our customers as they will no longer have to rely on sublet vendors.

At the end of August we’ll reclaim 6 acres at the east end of our Fort Worth dealership that we are currently subleasing to a landscaping company. Their sublease expired on September 1st and we have been successful in negotiating a long term lease with the landlord that will enable us to expand our operations in Fort Worth. are up and measurable rainfall is down. But we will not let the weather change our course of service. Business has increased in both locations of our region. The oilfield has afforded us many opportunities in the Permian Basin and continues to grow stronger on a daily basis. We strive to improve our service to the customers, both internally and externally. We appreciate all the employees who participated in our employee survey providing their honest feedback. We are anticipating some exciting changes in response to the results of the survey. These changes will inevitably improve customer satisfaction throughout the dealerships.

Additionally, our New Cascadia is making quite a splash in the market, and we have already ordered several trucks for customers as a result of our demo units.

New and Used Truck Sales activity is up and Fixed Operations remains strong which resulted in a strong 3rd quarter with Sales and Fixed Operations exceeding budget. As we moved through the third quarter of the year, kids were out of school and many people around the country were taking vacations. From an order intake perspective summer is generally a period of slower activity. This is not to say that business is not good. In fact, we finished the first half of the year in great shape. Our Used Truck Team is ahead of their sales plan and the New Truck Team is within sight of their goals at the midpoint. The great news is that we have a very strong order backlog, as many of our large customers placed orders to be delivered in the second half of the year. It’s always nice having some wind in our sales!

In the heavy truck industry the strongest period for ordering tends to be from October through March, with the largest customers in the US and Canada starting the order cycle by placing orders in Q4 for delivery the following year. As the year comes to a close and the new year kicks off, we start to see heavy order intake for the mid-size fleets, meaning our sales team spends a lot of time now through the end of the year ensuring we are in good shape with our customers and prospects and investing time building presentations and proposals that will drive our business next year. Selling to fleet customers - large and small - requires a lot of trust to be built between the sales representative and buyer as well as between the customer’s company and Premier Truck Group. Our team will demonstrate the features, advantages and benefits of our company and our products. They work with customers and OEMs to customize

truck specifications to meet the unique needs of the customer’s application. They provide detailed guidance on engine parameters and gearing so that our customers will have a competitive cost advantage by driving the most fuel efficient trucks possible.

While all this goes on behind the scenes, summer is a great time to continue to spread the Premier Truck Group story, introduce customers to the Freightliner and Western Star products we represent and get to know our customers and prospects better. I would like to point out a couple of recent events supporting these efforts. Our Knoxville team is very involved in a market segment called Expeditors. These are tandem axle sleeper trucks like the Cascadia that are stretched and equipped with a van body to be used in the delivery of specialized and highly time-sensitive freight. There are really only a few dealers across the country that specialize in this market and Premier Truck Group is one of them. Just last week our team participated in the Expedite Expo in Lexington, KY. Working a trade show is one way we can meet new customers and establish our reputation in the given market, but there is a lot of effort involved. Traveling with demonstrator trucks to the show, booth setup, truck cleaning, tear down, and traveling home. All of this surrounds the real point, being there, representing our product and our company for several days. Representing PTG at the show were Knoxville Sales Manager Steve Noland and Sales Representatives Sandra Robinson and Ron Moles. The team did an amazing job, as demonstrated by winning the “Customer’s Choice” award for the 4th year in a row! Great job team!

In Canada, our team came together to engage customers from throughout their AOR (Area of Responsibility) and introduce them to the New

Cascadia and DD5 engine. This event, called Experience the Future was a true team effort which included personnel from throughout the dealerships in the Toronto area, support from our corporate marketing team, and participation from Freightliner and Detroit representatives. The event was held at the Woodbine Race Track in Toronto which was a great venue to display and demonstrate our industry leading products. The event included product presentations, the Detroit Drivetrain trailer which is like a rolling showroom and ride and drives where our trained drivers were able to get the trucks out in traffic and demonstrate the adaptive cruise control system as well as the quality and comfort of the New Cascadia, and customers could drive our DD5-equipped M2. They also offered collision mitigation demonstrations showing how the truck will stop itself if necessary to avoid a collision. The customers that attended were hosted after the event at the Dare to Dream Garage. This venue provided each customer a very rare opportunity to view one of the finest private car collections in North America, from classic Porsches and Jaguars to modern supercars like the Bugatti, Ferrari la Ferrari, Porsche 918 and the McLaren P1. This is an experience they won’t forget and allowed our sales team time to get to know their customers better in a non-selling situation.

While the visible part of sales is when our team signs an order and delivers a new truck to our customer, it’s really only a very small part of the process. It is the culmination of many actions and a lot of effort in doing things the right way to build lasting customer relationships and meet the unique needs of each and every one of our customers. This is something the Premier Sales Team does very well and I feel very optimistic about our company’s future because of it.

SALES & MARKETING

• Fostering a culture of Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

• Valuing Honesty, Ethics and Integrity in all we do

• Encouraging Risk-taking and Ownership for mistakes

• Providing great Facilities in great Locations

As you look through each of the points above, it is clear we are heading in the right direction. It all begins with hiring and developing the best employees. This year we have rolled out Rev-Up to familiarize new employees with the PTG culture. We have also introduced APEX, which is a development program for recently promoted managers and we have a group of managers attending the National Automobile Dealer Academy in VA. We firmly believe the investment in developing

people is the right thing to do.

I want to thank each of you who work diligently every day to exceed our customers’ expectations. I know we have been shorthanded in some areas throughout the Central Region and you have done what it takes to ensure great customer service.

Thank you for embracing our mission. This is going to be the differentiator between Premier Truck Group and the competition.

It’s a fact that more than 16 percent of all workplace falls result in injuries or illness that affect the productive environment of a workplace. It becomes essential then to employ means to prevent falls at the workplace. Falls at the workplace are mainly of two kinds: those that happen in single-story structures and those that occur from a higher level. Most falls occurring from slips and trips at the same level are caused due to slipping on a wet/oily surface or tripping over an object. A fraction of the falls occurring from different levels happen when people fall off ladders, steps or a higher floor. It is also a fact that falls at the workplace can be prevented. Although accidents are not easy to guess, it’s still quite possible to prevent them from happening. Doing away with unsafe acts

and conditions can control such accidents. Look for ways to prevent slips, trips and falls from occurring at the workplace. Once these hazards are eliminated you can usually prevent accidents from taking place.

Some of the precautions you can take to avoid accidents are:

• Ensure that all spills and wet surfaces are immediately cleaned up from the floor. Do not allow any residual slimy leftovers to be lying around on the floor as it could be a cause for a potential slip or fall.

• See to it that all walking pathways in the office are clutter-free. Do not allow normal walkways to be littered by any object that might result in people tripping and falling over. 5

Fort Worth’s Amy Brandt Had an Idea That StuckAmy Brandt, our new Cashier at PTG Fort Worth, submitted an idea to Idea Central, and though she didn’t win the big prize, she was sent this wonderful participation prize. What was her idea? Amy wanted to be able to provide a gift to the kids that came into the Parts department with their parents over summer break. Candy was suggested, but she threw that idea out. “How about Stickers,” she said? Not just any kind of sticker though, she wanted truck shaped stickers with the logo so once the kids are done with the sticker, they can stick it somewhere and it’s a constant reminder of Premier Truck Group.

can best use this additional, much needed space.

Earlier this year we announced plans to develop a Shared Service Center (SSC) to centralize our accounting functions. We anticipate that the SSC will be fully operational by mid-4th quarter this year. The SSC will consist of 40 employees and we plan to build out an additional 6,500 square feet of the parts mezzanine in our South Dallas dealership.

In North Dallas demolition is underway of the old sales building. This building was in disrepair and had surpassed its useful life. Earlier this year the floors were raised and leveled in the end of the service building and the parts warehouse, and drainage in the parking lot was improved. Our North Dallas dealership, prior to the construction of our South Dallas location, was the headquarter location and it continues to serve as a strategic location just north of downtown Dallas in the heart of trucking activity. Recently I visited the dealership and learned that the employees there have affectionately nicknamed the location “The Bully”, short for Irving Boulevard. Joking aside they have also been holding bilingual parts vendor meetings with customers in an effort to better connect to the local Hispanic population. These meetings have been well received and demonstrate to the customers our focus on their needs.

In addition to these active projects, many other facility improvements are in the works. As we continue to generate profits we’ll invest them back into our facilities for the benefit of our employees and customers.

We have great products, great employees and with continued investment over time, we’ll have great facilities we can all be proud of.

Ardmore had an opportunity to celebrate a win for the team! • In case you need to reach up to something that’s high up in the office,

always use a safe stepladder. Never use chairs or desks to climb up to access things above your head.

• Make sure you only carry loads that you can safely handle. While carrying objects, make sure your line of vision is not blocked and that you’re not carrying a load that is too heavy - heavy objects may make you stumble under their weight.

• Always have good illumination around the work space. Whether indoors or near to the exteriors, ensure that lighting is adequate and visibility is not affected.

• Always wear good footwear when you are walking around, we may not have control over the condition of the surface that we walk on but we do have control over what we choose to wear on our feet. Increasing friction between the soles of your shoes and the surface on which you are walking greatly reduces the risk of slip-injuries.

• Follow safety tips to choose the right shoes for the prevailing conditions. Wear hard rubber soles on concrete or wood flooring. Soft rubber shoes are good on dry surfaces. Crepe soles are best on rough concrete surfaces, dry or wet, and neoprene soles are good and safe on most wet or dry surfaces.

One of the areas that we recognize as an organization that needs development is the training of our 1,250+ employees throughout all of our regions. As a growing company, it is clear that many initiatives need to be accomplished here and those efforts have begun.

Many of you pointed to this in our recent employee engagement survey. The concept we have developed is Premier Truck Group University (PTGU) and it will encompass 100, 200, 300 and 400 level courses. Recently, the senior management team met and agreed upon the PTGU concept and we will continue working on it over the next 18 months. To date, the following has been accomplished:

• Onboarding with Ultipro is fully online and will be placed initially in our North region. We now have a consistent training process to get new employees informed and acclimated to the company.

• Rev-Up - Since June 2016 we have had our new hires complete a full day of orientation that we call Rev-Up. Feedback on this effort has been outstanding and in some regions all of our employees have completed Rev-Up regardless of their start dates. Great job to the East region! We continue to modify this program with updates to stay current.

• NADA - 15 of our managers are preparing to complete week 4 (of 6) in this industry-recognized program designed to enhance their leadership and job skills. Appreciation to the following managers who are in the process of completing the program with a December 2017 graduation date.

• Joey Lee- General Manager Odessa • Jeffrey Wieland- Service Manager Knoxville • Darel Dyer- General Manager Chattanooga • Robert Greene- Branch Manager St. Catharine’s • Darcy Schmidt- Service Manager St. Catharine’s • Jason Mackie- General Manager Tulsa • Bobby Smith- General Manager Oklahoma City • Sean Gillam- General Manager North Dallas • Justin Griffin- Service Manager South Dallas • Mikie Robson- Branch Manager Ardmore • Brian Melson- Controller South Dallas • Andy Baker- Sales Manager Fort Worth • Karl Cox- Branch Manager North Texas • Ryan Hadley- VP of Parts • Mark Suter- VP of Remarketing Many of you may not be aware but this has required them to travel to either Dallas or Washington D.C. several times and complete numerous homework assignments. Their commitment has been outstanding!

As I am writing this we are preparing for our first APEX Management/Leadership program. APEX is designed for relatively new supervisors, whether internal promotions or outside hires. It is a 3 day course designed to further their leadership abilities while fully acclimating to the company as they develop a better understanding of our policies/procedures and culture. We believe this will benefit them greatly in being outstanding leaders within their respective markets/stores.

I have also engaged a training and development consultant to help us implement a robust program to ensure we provide outstanding customer service environments in all of our stores. She visited our Dallas and Odessa markets over the last few weeks as we develop programs for all customer facing employees. This will include phone skills and customer support/resolution.

Of course, our technical training group led by Monty continues to do an excellent job on the tactical needs within our service departments and we appreciate their efforts.I am very cognizant of the fact that these programs are just a start, but we want you to know that our commitment level is there. To that point, we recently made an investment in Ultipro’s performance management module which will assist us in tracking the background, education, training history, course completion and succession planning needs for each employee and position in the company. This should be fully implemented by year-end.

This is only intended to highlight some of the items we are working on right now. I recognize there is much more to accomplish but want you to know we are committed to the training and development of each one of you. Please feel free to share any ideas you may have with me at [email protected].

As always, our doors are always open, please feel free to reach out to me at any time.

In this day of digital overload, it’s becoming incredibly easy for people to complain, but less likely that people will communicate good news.

The people at Premier Truck Knoxville got us out of a tricky situation. We'd already had an alignment done on our Winnebago 45 RL but the company had not done it right, we’d already torn one tire off and limped the new one in to them. Full of hope that things would be better with another company. (one that sounded like they cared)

We were initially welcomed by Tim (Service Advisor), the following morning we met Annette (Service Advisor) and Rick (Foreman & Master Technician) all the time being made welcomed and supported.

Rick was amazing, detailed, professional and communicated with us throughout the process.

Everyone was friendly and they helped us back on our way home to Florida.

Rick, Annette & Tim will be remembered by us for the service and genuinely friendly attitude they shared.

Premier Group of Knoxville is blessed with team members who truly care and are a credit to their organisation.

We look forward to visiting them again whenever we are in the area to carry out any maintenance work that needs doing.

If ever there was a case for a Freightliner centre of excellence they would get my vote.

Thank you Everyone

First off; I'm new at the way trucks in general work. My job is to order and pick up parts! Luckily Freightliner of Fort Worth is just around the corner. On day one it was sort of intimidating, but after talking to the sales representative at the front in the parts department, I saw the abilities that they have. As time has passed and with all the mistakes i make, I really just want to say thanks for the patience that each person has towards me. Especially Amy! Who made me write this review! Lol!!!!!

This store is fantastic. I have delt with every department they have and its always a pleasant visit. The parts guys jed and jerry are very well trained and can get you just about anything you need and tell you about every part. There is nothing these guys wont do for you. The service department is always on top of their game and have great techs.

Tim and steve will always keep ya in a great mood while your there and patrick stays on top of everything making sure its done right, and if ive ever had an issue mikey has always jumped up and gets it taken care of.

NORTHERN REGION NORTHERN REGION (continued from page 2)

first class events are setting us apart from the competition in the North.

The Medium Duty market remains strong and we are excited to have former Thomas Built Bus Coordinator Jason Liburd join the Truck Sales team as a dedicated Medium Duty sales representative. The demo units equipped with the new DD5 engine have been getting good reviews and will continue to open doors to new opportunities in this segment.

July 1st saw the introduction of Mandatory Entry Level Training (MELT) for new drivers obtaining a commercial driver’s license in Ontario. A government regulated 104-hour in class course must be completed before a road test can be taken. This is expected to put more pressure on the driver shortage in the Province and will challenge our

highway customers more in the months to come.

Our Employee Survey participation was excellent at 94+% and the results were clear, customer service training and facility upgrades will be the focal points for Q3 in the North.

Congratulations to Belleville and Oshawa for obtaining Elite Support Certification again this year. Mississauga is expected to follow and be in place by the time this goes to print. A special thanks to CIC’s Margaret Taylor and Toni Welburn on leading this important initiative.

Thank you to all members of the North Region Team – your efforts are paying real dividends. We are beginning to take a dominant position in the Ontario market place.
