Dan 2:1 “And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams,

wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep

brake from him.” 603BC

God uses dreams to arrest attention: Pharaoh (Gen 41:8); Nebuchadnezzar

(Dan 4:5).

Joe 2:28 “And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men

shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.”

Dan 2:2 “Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers,

and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams.

So they came and stood before the king.” Gen 41:8 “…in the morning that his spirit was troubled; and he sent and called for all the magicians of Egypt, and all the wise men thereof: and Pharaoh told

them his dream; but there was none that could interpret them unto Pharaoh.”

Dan 2:3-4 “3And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to

know the dream. 4Then spake the Chaldeans to the

king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy

servants the dream, and we will shew the

interpretation.” Daniel 2:4b to 7:28 is written in Aramaic. The rest of Daniel is written in

Hebrew.

Dan 2:5-7 “5The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill. 6But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof. 7They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it.”

{FE 412.1} “The historic events related in the king’s dream were of consequence to him; but the dream was taken from him, that the wise men by their claimed

understanding of mysteries, should not place upon it a false interpretation. The

lessons taught in it were given by God for those who live in our day. The

inability of the wise men to tell the dream, is a representation of the wise men

of the present day, who have not discernment and learning and knowledge

from the Most High, and therefore are unable to understand the prophecies.”

{6T 227.2} “Through Joseph the life of that whole people was preserved. Through Daniel God saved the life of all the wise men of Babylon. And

these deliverances were as object lessons; they illustrated to the people the

spiritual blessings offered them through connection with the God whom Joseph

and Daniel worshiped. So through His people today God desires to bring

blessings to the world.”

{CW 101.2} “The very first exhibition of God’s power to the Hebrew captives was in showing the defective wisdom of the great ones of the earth. The

wisdom of men is foolishness with God. The magicians revealed their

ignorance of the light before the Lord revealed His wisdom as supreme. The

wisdom of human agents who had misappropriated their God-given talents,

God showed to be foolishness.”

these;” Dan 2:22 “He revealeth the deep and secret things…” Psa 25:14 “The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.” “Latter days” is a reference to the “time of the end.” Dan 10:14 “Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.”

By no means; it was the secret of his power; it secured for him favor in the eyes of the ruler of Babylon. In God’s name Daniel made known to the king the heaven-sent messages of instruction, warning, and

rebuke, and he was not repulsed. Let God’s workers of today read the firm, bold testimony of Daniel and follow his example.”

that were of iron and clay, and brake them to

pieces.” “Thou sawest till” implies a delay for the process of “cut” to begin (Investigative Judgment – 1844 Dan 7:9-10) “Stone” (Strong's #H69, Ezra 5:8; 6:4) “Cut out” from what? The Mountain - Daniel 2:45 Why “without hands” or “which was not in hands”? No human involvement – Dan 8:25 “… he shall be broken without hand.”

presented to me the case of Nebuchadnezzar. The Lord worked with power to

bring the mightiest king on the earth to acknowledge Him as King over all

As nations forget God, in like proportion they become weak morally. Babylon passed away because in her prosperity she forgot God, and ascribed the glory of her prosperity to human achievement. allegiance to God. As they forgot Him, they sank lower and

still lower in the scale of moral value. The vast empire of

Rome crumbled to pieces, and from its ruins rose that mighty

power, the Roman Catholic Church. This church boasts of her

infallibility and her hereditary religion. But this religion is a

horror to all who are acquainted with the secrets of the mystery

of iniquity. The priests of this church maintain their ascendency

by keeping the people in ignorance of God’s will, as revealed in the Scriptures.”

Clay represents people in their relationship to the Creator expressed through

religions, both true and false. Religions exert power parallel to the political

power of nations.
