HERKIMER, NY Herkimer Generals womens lacrosse player Danae
Becker was named Region III Female Athlete of the Week Wednesday
(4/1), helping her team to a 2-0 record last week with victories
over Genesee and Niagara County.
Becker - a resident of Cortland, NY - accumulated 12 goals and
two assists against the Cougars and Thunderwolves. Her season high
eight goals helped the Generals comeback and defeat Niagara at home
15-14, seeing the team net five unanswered in the final 17 minutes
of regulation. Then the midfielder had four goals and one assist
against Niagara, all in the first half, watching the team in the
second half win consecutive games at Wehrum Stadium against Western
New York Athletic Conference competition, defeating Niagara
19-1.
Danae is a strong and intelligent lacrosse player, said Head
Womens Lacrosse Coach Dianna Ste-Marie. She uses her vast knowledge
of the game to create ample opportunities for her and the team to
be successful on the field. Not only is Danae a brilliant lacrosse
player, shes a 4.0 student! We are very lucky to have her as a
member of the Herkimer Generals womens lacrosse program.
