With the cooperation of JIRA (Japan Industries
Association of Radiological Systems), JETRO (Japan
External Trade Organization) is pleased to participate
in ECR (European Congress of Radiology) 2010, as
part of the Japan Pavilion.
Medical diagnostic imaging equipment/systems range
from diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy equipment,
typified by CT and MRI systems, to the related
equipment and accessories that are necessary for their
clinical use, as well as IT equipment and software. In
Japan, all of this equipment is made with “Japanese
Quality,” utilizing Japan’s world-leading technology
in areas including basic and applied technology,
production management, electronics, and IT. The
result is enhanced accuracy, precision, convenience,
and speed for medical providers together with greater
peace of mind and safety for patients.
You can view a variety of medical diagnostic imaging
equipment/systems of “Japanese Quality” on display
in the Japan Pavilion.

The Japan Industries Association of Radiological Systems (JIRA) consists of member companies that develop, manufacture and sell diagnostic imaging equipment/systems such as Medical X-ray equipment, CT, MRI, ultrasound scanners, radiotherapy systems, and related products. JIRA was founded as a small association when it was established in 1924 by seven companies including manufacturers and importers of Medical X-ray equipment. Since its conception, JIRA has continued to grow with the development of Medical diagnostic equipment/systems as well as radiotherapy systems in Japan. On behalf of JIRA, I am proud to announce that as of September 18, 2009 we have become a 170-member organization through the growth of the industry and participation of the medical IT business.Since its foundation, JIRA has maintained a close relationship with related academic societies, governmental agencies, including the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, as well as relevant international associations. Through these ties we have extensively addressed standardization, regulatory law, and safety issues related to the development of diagnostic imaging technologies, thus contributing to provide timely solutions to human health around the world. JIRA’s contributions include countermeasures against tuberculosis in the postwar period, early detection of stomach cancer, cerebral and cardiovascular disease, prevention against adult disease (currently referred to as life-style related diseases), and other demands of the times.
