GOSPEL OF DR LUKE

Written Before A.D. 70--probably A.D. 57 LUKE (meaning Luminous)

Very little is known about this Gentile Medical Doctor -- the only Gentile writer in The New Covenant Scriptures. He may have been a convert to Judaism before becoming a Christian. What is Biblically known is that he first appears in Troas - Acts 16:10-17. Other places where he appears are usually with Paul the Apostle Acts 20:5-15;21; 27, Colossians 4:14, 2 Tim 4:11 and Philemon 24. This is the Gospel for common Sinners - No Magi -- but shepherds -common people - came to see their Savior--Simeon saw his Savior Anna saw her Savior Dr Luke omits King Jesus's baptism as JUDGE by John The Baptizer (Matthew does) Why? Because baptism was identified with common people. Baptism STARTS HIS ministry by taking HIS place in the synagogue at Nazareth and quoting Isaiah for Himself

Common style in this gospel: ' Repent for ……is near . Dr Luke records His compassion for the widow at Nain THE Guest of Zaccaeus -- The Great Sinner Parables continue this identification e.g. START with A CERTAIN MAN e.g.s. THE EARLY DATE OF DR LUKE — A.D. 57

As mentioned before Dr Luke must have written this gospel well before A.D. 70.Why?

Consider this:

Dr Luke never puts the hated Romans as enemies in his gospel.

King Jesus for example predicted Jerusalem's utter destruction (by the Romans). Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in A.D. 70 yet the gospel never mentions this most momentous event in Israel's history. IF Dr Luke wrote the gospel after A.D.70 he would not have made the Romans look as friends or miss this A.D. 70 war.. Furthermore DR Luke makes no mention of events happening between A.D. 60-70 He misses out the A.D.70 destruction and Emperor Nero's mad persecution of Christians. He also misses out on the martyrdom of King Jesus' earthly brother Yacov (James) THE LEADER of the church at Jerusalem--yet he does talk of the deaths of James ben Zebedee and Stephen and Paul his fellow traveler who died in AD 64 (In the book of Acts, Paul is still alive in chapter 28 -- awaiting his trial in Rome city) Thus this is unthinkable if the book and Acts was written after A.D. 70. Acts deals with events important to the young assembly before A.D. 70.

After the temple's destruction in AD 70 these issues like pagans coming into the assembly and how to deal with their cultural baggage was no longer relevant as the temple was destroyed. Whereas before A.D. 70 it was ' cool ' to try and be Jewish --that's right, pagans wanted to be Jewish -- after A.D. 70 no Gentile wanted to. The Romans are portrayed as friendly or indifferent in this Gospel- and Acts- i.e. before A.D. 64 's Nero and his persecution.

5:5 Night fishing was very common in Israel 5:27 Publicans were Tax Collectors for Rome and had different classes. Rome got rich capitalists called the ' publicani ' as tax agents to collect taxes on their behalf. The agency got a fee from the taxes. The publicani had joint stock venture companies with their own general manager called a ' magister ' usually resident in Rome itself.In Rome the publicani were ranked between the senators and the public. They were very influential in Roman society. The New Covenant though talks of the lower class of Publicani, the ' Portitores ' who were the Publicani's sub-contractors in the provinces. These Portitores were normally men from the same provinces. They were supervised by the Sub -Magistri who reported to the Magister in Rome. Zacchaeus was a Sub-Magistri Matthew Levi (the writer of Matthew's Gospel) was a Portitores, a simple tax agent. These tax collectors especially the native ones were detested as traitors and because they added ' extra fees ' on the Roman taxes. Thus Jewish tax collectors were treated as heathen, not allowed in The Temple or in synagogues or to give testimony in Jewish courts, Their presents given to the Temple were rejected and cut off from their friends. They were considered social outcasts or deviants SITTING at the Tax Office was a normal ancient custom. No one stood at work in Israel.

Note: The one who says "The old is good" is not King Jesus but anyone drinking "old wine." King Jesus Christ is not uttering His own opinion, but the opinion of those who have a taste for old wine. He says simply that anyone with a taste for old wine does not care for new. This is the case. Drinking alcohol fathers an appetite for stimulants and not for alcohol-free juices. King Jesus’ saying is not His judgment regarding the superiority of old, fermented

wines.New wine = non alcoholic grape juice because not even new wineskins could withstand the gas pressure made by fermenting new wine. Pure unfermented new wine was either filtered or boiled

DR LUKE 16:19-31 LAZARUS: PARABLE OR REALITY? PROLOG I have other papers, which detail the Reality of HELL and Heaven

Most people say this is NOT a parable because the prolog of the account says ' there was a Certain Man ' which is not parable language. IF there was no Rich Man then this was a lie! But in Dr Luke 12:16 a repetitious phrase ' a certain rich man ' is used and yet it is called a parable! See also Dr Luke 13:6, 20:9 and ' a Certain Noble man in ' Dr Luke 19:12--- all three are parables. Dr 16:14-15 applies this illustration to the Pharisees This was written in the past tense i.e. ' there was a certain rich man ' but had not yet been completed. And the first parable of Dr Luke 16: written also in past tense was not fulfilled then but later by the Pharisees. --Verse 14 Prophets used this style of writing events in the present tense even though they were for the future e.g. Isa 1:7 c.f. Matthew 23:38 which came 175 years later. Others say this is NOT a parable because the prolog of the account says ' there was a Certain Man ' which is not parable language. IF there was no Rich Man then this was a lie!

Others say it is NOT a parable because they are people's names like Lazarus whereas parables never use such personal names. But parables do use personal manes e.g.s. Balak in Numbers 23:7, 18, 24:3,15 and Job 27 and 29 ' and he took up A PARABLE and said Balak….of Moab brought me from Aram...come curse Jacob..defy Israel ' Finally others say the Bible here does not directly call it a parable so it must be historical. But even in Dr Luke's Gospel there are 43 parables e.g.s. 5:34-35, 5:36, 5:37-39, 6:39. 6:41-42, 6:43-45, 6:48-49, 7:32, 7:41-47, 8:5-8, 8:11-15, 8:16, 10:30-37, 11:5-8, 11:11-13, 11:21-22, 11:24-26, 11:33-36, 12;16-21. 12;24, 12:27, 12:35-40, 12:40,12:42-48, 13:6, 13:19, 13:21, 13:25-27, 14:8-11, 14:12-14, 14:16-24, 14:28-30, 14:31-33, 14:34-35, 15:4-7, 15:8-10, 15:11-32, 16:1-13, 17:7-10, 18:1-8, 18:9-14, 19:12-27, 20:9-18, and 21:29-31

Note that out of these 43 parables, 32 ARE NOT called parables by King Jesus!

That is about 75%. Some people insist that even if the Lazarus Account is a parable it is still an historical story of an Israeli man called Lazarus. Some Bible parables were never historical though e.g. Dr 6 :41-42

Did people in Israel in AD 30 really have logs in their eyes? Numbers 24:15 ' star out of Jacob. 'Did an actual heavenly star come out of Mr Jacob? No it was a parable prophecy about Messiah's arrival. 2 Sam 12 has two men (rich and poor men) compare Dr Luke 16:25 Rich man had many flocks -- Dr Luke 16:25--poor man had only one lamb The lamb grew up with the children -- cf. Dr Luke 16:21 It even lay at the bosom c.f. Dr Luke 16:22 The account is not stated to be a parable but it was. Prophet Nathan said the rich man was King David and the poor man, Uriah the Hitite,a Gentile. The parable was about King David stealing another man's wife. The bosom was simply the favored place of someone--John 1:18, 13:23

SO WHAT IS A PARABLE?

Dr Luke 14:7 a doctrine or precept illustrated in symbolic or figurative ways. IS DR Luke 16'S LAZARUS A PARABLE? Recall that in Psalm 78:2 Messiah was predicted to speak in parables or puzzling words. King Jesus did -Matt 13:34-35 Mark 4;33-34 Why ? to hide truth from rebels while exposing their wicked hearts and to show truth to those with humble hearts--Matt 13:10-17

This parable was spoken TO the rebel Pharisees--Dr Luke 16:14, Matt 5:20. In this instance King Jesus did hide the truth from them. Notice the reactions of the phonies in Mark 12:12, Dr Luke 20:19. Dr Luke's Gospel has many instances of Believing Gentiles being accepted into the Kingdom and the Unbelieving Jews being cast out. They even wanted to kill HIM --Dr Luke 4:28-30, 11:53-54 20:14-20 See also 1 Peter 2;9 Acts 13:46-49 Matt 21:43 Read through all the parables and see this motif clearly expressed.

who was laid at his gate, full of sores ( heikoo ),(Gentiles called converts or strangers at the gate--Ex 20:10, Deut 5:24. Jewish zealots sometimes called them scabs --the sores of this parable)

And eagerly desiring to be fed from the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the puppy dogs came and licked clean (apoleicho) his sores (helkos-ulcer) .

22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels (The Begger or Gentiles carried or given the promised blessings to Israel which national Israel refused by rejecting Messiah Jesus. Recall all parables prior this show King Jesus kingdom being offered to Israel but being rejected by the leaders. Hence Israel was buried in AD 70 --Acts 28, Remnant of believing Jews -Gal 3:28-29

So believing Gentiles put into Abraham's Bosom--Gal 3:7, 14, 29, Romans 2:29-29, 9:6-8, Philip 3:3 ) and was carried by the angels ( Angels will literally carry Abraham's true seed --Jews and Gentiles into the future Kingdom of King Jesus, the Millennium --Matt 24:31 ) into Abraham's Bosom

( If tradition is right then where did Adam or Noah or Enoch go to at their deaths? This Bosom was not there before Abraham was it? Bosom simply means ' favored place or status ' :See 2 Sam 12:3, Isa 40:11, John 13:23 not paradise. This was God's Blessings promised to Abraham--the Land of Israel and New Jerusalem of Gen 12:1-3, 15:18, Heb 11:8-16, Rev 21)

The rich man also died, and was buried; ( Nothing said about unrepentant Israel--the rich man--and angels carrying them. Only that in 40 years after A.D. 30 Israel was destroyed by the Romans

Josephesus' ' War of The Jews ' states over 1million Jews were killed and 97000 Jews sold as slaves into the pagan countries called in Ezek37:12 ' graves ' The rich man was indeed buried. Jer 24, Dr Luke 13:7, 34-50 --warnings came true. But God will bring them back again--Ezek 37:12, Rom 11:25) 22 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's Bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; 23 And in Hell (Hades) he lift up his eyes, ( This parable has Israel in Hell-hades speaking. Compare Judges 9 when trees talk and Isa 14's proverb of the Babylonian king 's defeat. Do people talk in Hades?. Do trees really talk? See Isa 14:8 Hades not hell is meant here. Hades or Sheol is the GRAVE.

1 Cor 15:55 ' O GRAVE --HADES-SHEOL where is thy sting where is thy victory ?

DECAPTITATED BODIES IN HELL?

' But I say unto you that whosoever is angry with his brother WITHOUT A CAUSE shall be in danger of The Judgement ( that is the council of three in the Local Synagogue) and whosoever shall say ' RACA ' or ' FOOL' shall be in danger of GEHENNA FIRE (Hell fire. King Jesus used 'Gehenna ' a proper noun , the valley burning with fire in Jerusalem--- Dr Luke 12:5 . He said ' ye serpents , ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the Damnation of Hell -Gehenna ? ' for this generation? When did this come on these self-righteous Pharisees? And citizens of Jerusalem-Matt 23:37

Answer:' that particular generation'--Matt 23:36.

That is in A.D. 70 with the Roman invasion. Josephesus an eye witness says '' they cast ( the dead ) into the valleys(of Gehenna) beneath ….so

(General) Titus commanded that THE HANDS of many (Jews) caught …BE CUT OFF …' Matt 5:30 ' and if thy right hand offend cut it off…and not that thy whole body should be cast into Gehenna 'A human being can after being decapitated and asked in vain to change or repent be thrown into Gehenna (valley of Jerusalem) but if Gehenna is changed to mean ' Hell ' as most Bible have it, the

verses do not make any sense. How can arms, legs be spared from or going into Hell? Without the rest of the body?

The Bible says the whole body goes into the grave -- Gen 3:19, Eccless 3:20, Job 34:15. Yes, how can a dead body be thrown into Hell minus a few body parts?

The entire parable has the rich man being sent to his grave, literally (1 million killed) and symbolically ( 97000 sold to Gentiles ) in A.D. 70 If Hell and not the grave was meant how did the rich man speak? Recall that trees do talk--Judges 9 even though this is not stated to be a parable all people know it is then in Gen 4:10 God said ' the voice of thy brother's blood cries unto ME from the ground ' How? Literally? Men cannot speak when they are dead-Psalm 6:5,116:17 ' for in death there is no remembrance of THEE, in the GRAVE-SHEOL-- who shall give THEE thanks? The DEAD DO NOT PRAISE THE LORD NEITHER ANY THAT GO DOWN INTO SILENCE..' But dead people can speak in a figuratively way thus ' by faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain by which he got witness that he was righteous, God testifying of . gifts AND BY IT HE BEING DEAD YET SPEAKS..' Hebrews 11:4 being in torments (basanos), and sees Abraham from afar , and Lazarus in his bosom. (Rom 11:25-27 c.f. Ephe 2:11-13 ' so you...in time past Gentiles ..minus MESSIAH being Aliens from the Commonwealth of Israel, and Strangers from the Covenants of Promise BUT now in Messiah Jesus ye are made NEAR by the Blood of Messiah ..' So Abraham's blessings were placed far off for spiritually blind Israel while Gentiles partake of them now.) and crying out he said, father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool (katapsucho) my tongue; for I am tormented

Was the rich man --National Israel in A.D. 30 onwards tormented via famine and water shortage ? Josephus, ' ' War of The Jews ' records the terrible holocaust via famine and torture .He writes ' .they tormented them worse ..invited terrible methods of torment to discover where the food was ..so the (Jews) were whipped ..then tormented with all sorts of tortures before they died...crucified upon the wall of ( Jerusalem) ..Siloam (and other wells) failed….that water was sold by measure....for this ( about ) to die (had) dry eyes and open mouths ' Exactly as ' send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool ( katapsucho ) my tongue; for I am tormented ' )

16:24 ' for I am tormented in this flame ' came true in AD 70 Josephus ' a plain flame broke out…upon the wall….endeavoured to quench the fire…without any regard to the danger that their bodies were in ..upon the Jews seeing this fire all about them their spirits sunk with their bodies ..the temple was seething hot as full of fire …dead bodies lay.. and the (Romans) set fire to the houses where the Jews were fled and burnt every soul in them…houses (with) entire families of dead men ..'

Notice that torments are plural in this parable.

25 But Abraham said, Son, (Israel is Abraham's son . Dr Luke 3:8 ' we have Abraham as our father ') remember that you in your lifetime received your good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and you are tormented. (Having good or evil things in this life is not God's way of judging men's hearts. If so then Abraham should have been in the same place as the rich man since he too was very rich --Gen 13:2. This point alone should tell us that the parable is talking about something else. And that is that God gave Abraham's sons the good things -first--' an exceeding Good land ' --Ex 14:7, Deut 1:25, 3:25, 4:15-22, 6:10-11 ' houses full of Good things ' .Then when Messiah was rejected the Gentiles were brought in en masse ' comforted ' while Israel went into torments. And ever since the Romans destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70 this has continued with Hitler's gas chambers, Stalin's. Massacres, Saddam Huseein's missile attacks on Israel and Arafat's PLO Hamas 666 bandits fire bombings. The Last 42 month Great Tribulation of Jacob (Jer 31 Dan 11, Matt 24, Rev 13 0 will see the Arab 666 Muslims do this ' and it shall come to pass that in the Land (of Israel) says YAHWEH 2 parts shall be cut off and die but the third shall be left there AND I WILL BRING THE 3RD PART THROUGH THE FIRE..' Zech 13:8-9

Then Romans 11 will come true when King Jesus destroys the Arab Muslim 666 armies and Israel is saved. 26 And beside all this, between us and you there has been a Great Gulf (chasm-Rift ) fixed: so that they who would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.(Great Gulf or chasm-Rift is the one that goes 3000 miles from Israel to Africa. And not some strange divide in Hell. I believe in a real Hell but this parable does not talk about. Scripture must be rightly divided- 2 Tim 3:16 2 Sam 18:17-- Absalom thrown into a rift This Great Gulf divided Israel from the Gentiles

Even today east-west travel is hard along the Jordan valley's steep slopes. Joshua 1:2 '' go over this Jordan ( the Great Gulf ) ..unto the Land which I do give thee (and) Israel ..' Moses was not allowed entrance only to view it ' get thee up into the top of Pisgah ( a Gentile land ) and lift up your eyes westward and northward and southward and eastward and see…...but you shall not go over this Jordan --Deut 3:27 . And the same was of the Rich Man who ' lifted up his eyes ' Dr Luke 16:23 In the Millennium all true believers - Jewish and Gentile - will inherit this land.) 27 Then he said, I entreat thee therefore, father that you would send him to my father's house: ( The rich man called Abraham ' father ' -another proof it is Israel. ' to my father's house ' --the 12 Tribes of Israel ) 28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. The Bible gives us the 5 names : Judah had 5 brothers from Leah his mother, Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Isachar-Gen 30:20,35:23 Recall too that Israel was later divided into 2.When they came back from Babylon, Ezra called the Judah and Benjamin as ONE MAN--Ezra 1:5,3:1 Thus if the two tribes are shown as one man then the 5 brothers can represent the other 10 tribes i.e. 2 =1 and 5 =10 Judah and Benjamin (the one man of Ezra 3:1) can then be said to have 5 brothers (northern 10 tribes of Israel ) Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and The Prophets; let them hear them. ( Not literal as Moses and all other Old Covenant Prophets lived in another time-frame .This is about Israel having The WORD OF GOD. Dr Luke 24:44, Rom 3:1 ' what advantage has the Jew? Much, chiefly because unto them were COMMITTED THE ORACLES OF GOD ' In fact Dr Luke says ' The Torah (Moses) and The Prophets were until John..'

Is it not a contradiction when some Bible pastors say yes ' Moses and The Prophets ' only means the Word of God but ' Lazarus and the Rich man ' mean two literal persons??

30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will change (repent). ( King Jesus actually resurrected a man called Lazarus--John 11-12--but the nation of Israel did not repent )

QQ 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and The Prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. ( Yes Abraham was correct. The unbelieving Jews did not believe The Prophets--Dr Luke 11:49-50 NOR King Jesus The Wonderful speaker of this parable WHO literally did come back from death on April 17th AD 30. Acts 3-4 gives us the reactions of unbelieving Jews exactly what King Jesus said in this parable.

CONCLUSIONS This parable is not about the after-death (or ' after life ') It is about the rejection of King Jesus by His own (John 1:10-11) and subsequent grace given to us Gentiles.

Hell is real and King Jesus spoke more about Hell than Heaven but this parable is not about that. I stand to be corrected.

Israel will be brought back from ' the iron furnace of Egypt ' and be as a ' fire brand plucked out of the burning ' Amos 4:11, Zech 13;7-9, 1 Kings 8:51, Deut 4:20, Jer 11:4. Dr Luke 21:20-24 summarizes this parable very well.

The following parables of Dr Luke 17:6 - Sycamine Tree and Leper also prove the above.

COMMENTS ON DR LUKE 17:6 The Sycamine Tree was a species of Fig Tree itself repenting Israel--Jer 24, Hosea 9:10, Joel 1:7, Micah 7:1, Habak 3:17. Th sea = Gentiles -Isa 57:20, rev 13:1, Dan 7:3, 7:17,. This short parable shows Pharisaic Judaism being plucked up by the root--------------Dr Luke 17:6 , 2 Chron 7:20 then will I pluck them up by the roots.. and will make it a proverb and byword among the nations ( sea ) . The early Assembly ( ' church ' ) went out preaching--Acts 14:27--and Judaism and its temple was destroyed in AD 70.

Only one -the Gentile came back to KING JESUS THE MESSIAH of Israel. This Gentile was ' made whole ' or given lasting salvation verse 19. NOTES First Eyewitnesses of the resurrection were women. Normally women's testimony was discounted -- Siphre Deut 190 the oldest rabbinic work thus disqualifies women on the strange reasons that witnesses in the Old Testament are referred to in the masculine.

But rabbis did not disqualify women!! See Mishnah (Eduyoth 3:6,Yebamoth 16:7, Ketboth 2:5) Women were allowed to testify where no males were around. Thus Mary Magdalene would have been allowed to testify about King Jesus' Resurrection on rabbinical principles. Paul does not mention Mary in his 1 Cor 15 official list simply because he did not want to give any unbelieving Jews extra reasons for doubting the 1 Cor 15 list. So he only lists the men.
