with the most money in their jar got the thrill of getting a pie in thrown in their face. However, due to some sneaky Youth Council boys, there was more than one person who got a pie in their face! Probably the favorite part about TLC for everyone had to be meeting all the new people. Eve- ryone of the TLC delegates went home with at least ten more friends than what they had when they showed up on Monday. It is definitely an experience of a lifetime. To the TLC delegates of 2012: the Youth Council hopes to see you all again next year! Brookings, SD– 105 teenagers were placed on the campus of South Dakota State University to learn not only about leader- ship, but about themselves. Teen Leadership Conference (TLC) is a conference that helps teens excel in leadership potential. Through out the week the dele- gates attended workshops rang- ing from mechanical engineering to choral education, future ca- reers, community workshops, and the end of the week wrapped up with fun workshops. Whether it was blasting off water rockets in the 90 degree weather or learning a new dance move, delegates were tested to step out of their comfort zone. To start out the week, delegates were split up into countries, which were their teams for the week. Through these teams, they participated in numerous activi- ties ranging from physical training to saving their “angry bird”. The week was full of eventful chal- lenges for the countries to take part in. When asked what was their fa- vorite part about TLC numerous answers were given. Learning numerous dances from different people during the two dances is always a plus. Anyone in the mood for a little talent? Each country had to provide a skit that included the question “Do you believe in miracles?” Or one of the more funny moments of the week included raising money for the state-wide community service project.
