CHILDREN’S DAY
4th NOV, 15
Children’s day was celebrated in at OMK with great enthusiasm. The
celebration began with the morning assembly conducted by the
teachers which was followed by a beautiful song by Mr. Rajdeep
(E.T). The Principal, Mr. Madhukar Jha addressed the students and
encouraged to dream big and work hard. Children’s day without the
felicitation of the children is of no use. Keeping this in mind the top
five scorers of grade 5 to 8 were appreciated. The celebration ended
with fun and frolic.
PRE PRIMARY WORKSHOP – 31ST OCT
Oxford University Press organized a day long workshop on new
teaching methodologies for the pre – primary teachers at Buddha
Heritage Hotel on 31st Oct 2015. The objective of the workshop was
to enable the teachers to occupy their necessary skills and attributes of
modern teacher concept. OMK has sent three teachers Ms. Mamta
Raj, Ms Neha and Ms Priti to attend the valuable workshop.
SHIKSHA DIVAS
10th Nov 2015
The Bihar government has organized a two day event on the occasion
of shiksha Divas at S.K Memorial Hall on 10-11 Nov, 14 to
commemorate the birth anniversary of India’s first education minister
Dr. Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad. Open Minds – A Birla School,
Kankarbagh also participated in this colourful event. The students of
grade 4-5 were awarded with a certificate and a momento trophy from
education Dept., Bihar. The group was accompanied by the team of 6
teachers Ms. Tabassum, Ms. Kyati, the dance teacher Anita and
Richa, Ashutosh Sir along with the Activity coordinator Ms. Sania
Jan.
PIDILITE SCIENCE PROJECT
30th Oct, 2015
The students took active part in the science Project conducted by
Fevicol, Pidilite. Pidilite science project is an annual nationwide
competition that identifies the talent from across the schools in the
country. The students of grade 7 and 8 prepared the 3-D model of
their interpretations of the topic given. The winners of the competition
were awarded with certificates.
AXIS BANK DRAWING COMPETITION
21st Nov 2015
The school organized a painting competition in collaboration with
Axis Bank. The students of grade 3to 5 actively participated in this
painting competition. The themes of the painting were given by the
Bank. The winners were awarded with certificates and the gift
hampers from the Bank.
OUP WORKSHOP FOR ELT
28th Nov 2015
The Oxford University workshop was organized in Hotel Gargee
Grand on 28th Nov, 15 for the English teachers. The main objective of
the workshop was to enhance the Higher Order Thinking Skills in the
students. The resource person Ms. Mala Palani aimed at introducing
ideas about how lessons can lend themselves for the integration of
various skills. Ms. Manisha Prakash and Ms. Sania Jan attended the
workshop from OMK.
CPR WORKSHOP – 5th Sept. 2015
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) workshop was conducted by
Dr. Rajneesh of American Heart Association. The teachers were made
aware about the various causes of heart attack. To deal with the
situation the staff members were taught how to Dr. Rajneesh and his
team also answered various queries put up the teachers. The workshop
was also attended by our director Dr. Reinhold and honourable
Principal Mr. Madhukar Jha.
DAINIK JAGRAN SANSKARSHALA
20th Nov 2015
Dainik Jagran Sanskarshala was conducted in the school on 30th Nov,
15 across grades 3 to 8. Dainik Jagran through sanskarshala, attempts
to contribute to the holistic learning process so that our kids of today
become aware, responsible and confident citizens of tomorrow. The
students enthusiastically participated in their test of moral values. The
exam was coordinated by Mr. Mukesh Raj.
Foundation’s Day
12th December 2015
“High Standards are the foundation of great achievements”
Open Minds – A Birla School celebrated its 3rd Foundation’s Day on
12th Dec, 15 with gusto, ardor and enthusiasm. The middle school
presented a vibrant and colourful show on this day. Our Principal Mr.
Madhukar Jha also presented the annual report on this occasion.
Felicitation Ceremony for Perfect Attendance
12th Dec, 2015
The students of grade V to VIII were felicitated for the achievement
of perfect attendance. The students were awarded with the certificate
for their efforts. Good attendance helps kids succeed in school and
bolster their self esteem.
Christmas Celebration
24th Dec 2015
The festival of Christmas was celebrated with gaiety in the school.
The school were a festive look. The special assembly was organized
on this day by Primary students. The children sang in a very festive
mood and danced to the Christmas numbers. The school echoed with
the holy hymns recited by the students and teachers.
National Level of GOF
5th February 2016.
The National Level of Green Olympiad Foundation was conducted in
school premises. Live Olympiad assessment is based on a common,
neutral syllabus that allows students from various boards to
participate. About 750 students participated in school level and about
130 students were selected for the national level students from all
subjects and classes are made to sit together and are provided with
tablets to take assessment.
Berlin Test
20th Feb 2016
An International level Math Olympiad was conducted for all students
of Grades 7 and 8 on 20/02/2016.
The key competences tested are logical combination and practical
application of mathematics, not just pure knowledge of formulas and
the use of them. The test gives the student the possibility to compare
his understanding of mathematics with the international school-level
expected from his grade in other countries (like Britain, USA,
Germany, Switzerland, Australia).

Painting reflects the artistic side of human brain. This improve
students imagination power as well as expressive power. Students
dream and portray the dream into a piece of paper. With the attempt
of developing the artistic brain of a student, we came up with a poster
making and painting competition, which took place on 17 th April
2015. Once more our program was a success with students making
wonderful paintings and posters clearly demonstrating their thought.
We appreciate their efforts and encourage them to further continue
this unique form of art.

COMPETITION CONDUCTED ACROSS GRADES 4-8
We believe in an all-round development of a kid, therefore we want toappreciate those 22 children who took part in the 21st Patna district taekwondochampionship, which took place on 18th and 19th april 2015. It is an honourfor us to say that out of the 22 students 12 of them won medals. 3 won goldmedals, 4 won silver medals and 6 won bronze medals. We really appreciatethe efforts of all participants and congratulate all who have won prizes. Wewould also like to encourage all the students to actively participate in otherco-curricular activities.
TELEGRAPH APTITUDE TEST
24TH APRIL 2015
The telegraph aptitude test was conducted on 24th april 2015. In this test, thestudents had to complete the Sudoku puzzles published in the telepgraph bythemselves or with the help of the answers given in the same newspaper butdifferent page. This would sharpen the brain of a kid, as we know puzzles areequivalent to gym for the brain. Moreover this would also develop the readinghabit of a student as they would have to search the entire newspaper for thepuzzle as well as the answer by reading the topic that is the headline. Thestudent s had to cut and paste the puzzles on their scrap book. The more thenno. of puzzles the more the point and the student with the highest point wins.The students actively participated in this competition and did their level bestto collect as many scrap books as they could.
ENGLISH HANDWRITING COMPETITION

COMPETITION CONDUCTED ACROSS GRADE 1-8
"First impression is the last impression". The first impression of a student isjudged by his/her handwriting. Keeping this in mind we organised ahandwriting competition for our students; encouraging them to inculcate abetter handwriting by giving them a lure of fame and prizes. The competitionwhich was organised on 30th april was a great success, with participationrate, cent percent. Students truly worked hard to improve their handwritingresulting in a more legible, mature, neat and beautiful one.
VISIT OF MAYURESH WADKAR
6TH MAY 2015
6th May 2015 was an important day, when the students of our school wereface to face with a personality whom they always admired on their televisionscreens. The person was an upcoming face in the field of dance andchoreography i.e. Mayuresh. He is an awesome dancer and is a product ofDance India Dance (DID). Today he is among the choreographers of DID lil'champs and DID super Moms. His live performance on stage and his crazewas such that not only students had a wave of Mayuresh's magical dancemoves but also the teachers. Students had a crazy to shake hand with him andtake his autograph. The students really enjoyed seeing his flexible dance moves,it seemed that his body had turned into a fluid.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR
6TH AND 9TH MAY 2015
This unique book fair was organised in our school from 6th to 9th may 2015.Books were displayed in the classroom and were kept for sale so that thestudents could choose their favourite book and buy them. This would improvetheir reading skills and develop a reading habit, improving the vocabularyand word-stock of the student simultaneously.
CCE WORKSHOP
18TH JUNE 2015
CCE workshop was organised by the school on 18th june 2015 for the teachersincluding coordinators by the principal Mr. Madhukar Jha to providecomprehensive guidelines for effective implementation of CCE in Open MindsA Birla School, Kankarbagh. About 80 teachers including the coordinatorsattended the workshop which lasted for an hour.
The key objectives of the workshop were
" To give comprehensive information to CCE teachers about effectiveimplemention of CCE in all subjects.
" To provide guidelines for effective implementation of CCE by teachers.
" To provide class wise action plan for formative assessment activities.
" Give an idea about evaluation of activities for formative assessment inall subjects.
" To give a model format of record to be maintained by the subject teachers.

Workshop was organised by the school on 19th june 2015 for the teachersincluding coordinators by the CCE coordinator Mukesh Raj to providecomprehensive guidelines for preparation of the question paper in Open Minds- A Birla School, Kanakarbagh. About 80 teachers including coordinatorsattended the workshop which lasted for an hour.
The key objectives of the workshop were
" To understand the effectiveness of teaching learning.
" To check the level of understanding of students.
" Assessment for identifying the weak areas of students and adopt suitableremediation measures for the same.
" To award judicious grades to students in various competencies.
INTER HOUSE KABADDI CHAMPIONSHIP

The finals of Inter House Kabaddi Championship was held in the schoolpremises for various categories of boys and girls.
HORLICKS HEALTH CAMP

Experience shows that poor health hinders the learning progress, interest inactivities and overall growth of children. The school along with Horlicksorganised two day medical checkup camp for the students in the schoolpremises. The camp was organised for all the Grades for Nutritional and growthelements like height, weight, BMI and nutritional deficiencies.
