• A 1% improvement in efficiency will yield a $2 billion-a-year benefit

• ALC strongly supports Infrastructure Australia • National Infrastructure Audit findings:

– Without action, Australia’s productivity and quality of life will be tested

– Greater integration is called for between infrastructure and land-use planning

– Encouragement of improvements in long-term infrastructure planning, project appraisal and selection

arrangements– Developing a consolidated database of infrastructure projects

• The Australian Government will become a founding member• Aims to bring best practice for the delivery of infrastructure to

projects with other development banks• The Infrastructure Bank will improve the delivery and

financing of critical infrastructure that will benefit Australia and the entire region

• Progressing the future of trade logistics in our region must be supported by:– smooth and efficient supply chains, and;– appropriate financial mechanisms to facilitate investment in

infrastructure
