    Vicious brawl between two groups

of juveniles, one casualtyBy Coby Shimabukuro-Sanchez

WINDRIXVILLE, Oklahoma--Two groups of juveniles known as socs and greasers met in a vacant lot in Windrixville, Oklahoma to fight each other due to a territorial dispute on October 8th around 7:00pm. Later after the fight, a boy within the greasers group was found dead after being shot down by police afters due to the fact that the boy held up an unloaded gun.

The group known as greasers were comprised of multiple gangs or "hoods" that formed together during this rumble against the group known as socs. Amongst the greasers were gangs called The Brumly Boys, Shepards gang, and others. Most notably, two of the three boys who were involved in church fire rescue--Ponyboy Curtis and Dally Winston (who joined soon before the fight). There were a total of 21 boys, fighting a group of 22 boys.

Witness Stephen Smith, who lives in the area, saw the entire event. I was just minding my own business when I heard some ruckus going on outside, and I decided to check it out and boy, it was violent. And then a bunch of the kids ran to their cars and drove off. said Smith. Both groups suffered multiple injuries; mostly being bruises due to the fight.

Recalling the church fire on Jay Mountain, the boy that did not attend the brawl (Johnny Cade) suffered severe injuries to his back and was practically dying because of his injuries. Curtis and Winston both rushed to visit Cade after the brawl. Cade died soon after.
