4 Tips for Writing Acknowledgement

Introduction

We often focus on the larger sections while writing, editing, and proofreading academic paper, such as the overall structure, information flow, methods, observation, conclusion, and language.

A small section like Acknowledgement is overlooked and considered unimportant.

However, the Acknowledgement section of your manuscript provides the editor with the required relevant information and must be written precisely by including all necessary details.

In this presentation we present four tips that will aid academic writers and those editors into PhD paper editing while writing or editing the Acknowledgement section.

Introduction

The list for expressing gratitude may be endless, but it is advisable that you rank and sort people as per crucial roles played.

Limit the people by qualifying only those who truly deserve an authorship.

Example: A co-worker who helped you set up the lab and arranged samples for the research experiments or the statisticians who helped you with data analysis.

Avoid over thanking. Gratitude must be sincere, clear, and concise. Refrain from using flowery language and overtly polite words.

Tip#1:Thanking significant contributors Sponsors are an integral part of your work, and expressing your gratitude to your sponsors is as essential, for their contribution has helped fuel your project

Furthermore, this act of courtesy will earn you goodwill, and the sponsor may be further willing to aid you for your future work.

Tip#2:Specifying sponsors and their role 5A statement declaring conflicts of interest should be listed even if there are no COI among the authors.

Numerous journals provide a separate section for submitting COI information. However, for those journals that do not mention this exclusively, it is advisable to list COI in the Acknowledgement.

Tip#3:Declaring Conflict of Interest (COI)When writing remember if paper is written in American English then the letter e will be omitted and if in British English then e will be added.

Example: American Spelling - AcknowledgmentBritish Spelling- Acknowledgement

Nevertheless, it is recommended to check the standing instructions given by the journal when writing/ PhD paper editing.

Tip#4:Avoiding letter e errorThank You
