Wednesday October 31, 2018 4 DISTRICTS Four gamblers nabbed with Rs 3,725 stake money STATE TIMES NEWS BARI BRAHMANA: Police on Tuesday arrested four gam- blers and recovered Rs 3,725 stake money from the gambling spot. As per the details, acting on a tip off, a special team from Police Station Bari Brahmana headed by Inspr Ravinder Singh Rakwal, SHO Bari Brahmana and under the direct supervision of Sunil Kesar, SDPO Bari Brahmana raided the gambling spot at Ward No. 4 Bari Brahmana and arrested four gamblers along with stake money of Rs. 3,725 and play- ing cards from the spot. The gamblers were identified as Nitu Kumar son of Babu Ram resident of Palli, Mukesh Singh son of Mohan Singh resident of Bihar at present Bari Brahmana, Rajesh Kumar son of Chand Ram resident of Bari Brahmana and Satpal son of Parkash Chand resident of Dhiansar. Taking cognisance into the matter, all the gamblers were booked under section 13 of Gambling Act at Police Station Bari Brahmana. ATM fraudster held within 12 hours STATE TIMES NEWS POONCH: Police on Tuesday nabbed an ATM fraudster within 12 hours of receiving of complaint with regard to fraudulent withdrawal of money from an account. As per the details, one Mohd Aslam son of Salam Din resi- dent of Mamankote Tehsil Chasana (Mahore) lodged a writ- ten complaint in Police Station Poonch that while withdraw- ing money at SBI ATM located in Poonch, an unknown per- son came there and he managed to exchange his ATM and later withdrew Rs 38,000 from the account. Taking cognisance of the matter, police registered a case vide FIR No 184/2018 under section 420 RPC and a police party led by SHO Poonch under the supervision on SSP PoonchRajiv Pandey swung into the action. With the strenuous efforts and with the help of CCTV footage of incident, the accused person got identified as Liyaqat Hussain son of Abdullah resident of Kanuyian Poonch and was arrested. During interrogation, he confessed the crime and the ATM of complainant along with money Rs 38,000 cash was recov- ered from his possession. Woman among two injured in leopard attack STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Two persons were injured after they were attacked by a leopard in Marothi locality of Tehsil Chenani in Udhampur. According to a report, a leopard attacked a woman identi- fied as Krishani Devi wife of Nasib Chand and Darshan Singh son of Sansar Chand residents of village Marothi in Chenani. Before the victims could have escaped, leopard crit- ically injured them. On hue and cry raised by victims, locals reached the spot and forced leopard to flee. Both victims were shifted to Distinct Hospital Udhampur from where they were referred to GMC Jammu. JCB operator dies as landslide hits highway STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN: A JCB operator died when a landslide hit the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway resulting in its closure for few hours in Ramban district Tuesday, police said. The landslide on the highway at Digdool in the district on Monday night resulted in closure of the highway for traffic, they said. While men and machines were pressed into service to clear the highway of the landslide, another landslide hit the area trapping a JCB under it, they said. JCB operator Jamsheed (26) died in the landslide. The highway was cleared for traffic around 8.30 AM. Bootlegger nabbed with 28 bottles of liquor STATE TIMES NEWS DODA: Police on Tuesday arrested a bootlegger and recov- ered 28 bottles of liquor from his possession. As per the details, on a tip off, Doda police raided in the area and apprehended one Dev Raj resident of Raryot who was indudged in selling illicit liquor. In all 28 bottles of liquor from his possession. The accused was arrested and a case under relevant section was registered against him. Cong leader condemns BJP for horse-trading STATE TIMES NEWS KATHUA: Judicial Magistrate, Ist Class Billawar R.K Tadyal on Tuesday awarded two years imprisonment and fine of Rs. 4,500 to Abdul Gani, son of Taj Din, resident of Dharalta Tehsil Billawar, district Kathua facing trial in a case of assault and use of criminal force with intent to outrage modesty of a woman, under Sections 354, 457 and 323 RPC . According to the complaint lodged with Police Station Billawar, the Abdul Gani entered the room of victim on 30th October, 2012 at about 11:00 PM and pressed her mouth with criminal intention to outrage her modesty. The victim resisted and was able to cry when her mother-in-law reached the spot. The accused seeing her mother-in-law released the victim and fled. The JMIC after hearing both the counsels for the State and the defence held the accused as guilty and liable to be convicted. Accordingly the Court awarded simple impris- onment of 2 years and a fine of Rs 4,500 for commission of offence under aforesaid Sections. STATE TIMES NEWS SUNDERBANI : Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) held a meeting of DPs -1947 at Sunderbani in which large number of DPs from Kalakote and Nowshera also participated besides locals. While taking stock of prob- lems faced by DPs in con- nection with the disburse- ment of relief package of Rs. 5.5 lakh the speakers expressed their strong resentment against the lack of interest of authorities towards early clearance of the cases in spite of complet- ing all the formalities. They said that some DPs have been denied acceptance of their cases for compensa- tion on the grounds that their records are dilapidated or decayed where there is no fault of theirs. They said that the previous coalition government failed to con- centrate over the issue which is languishing for the last more than two years due to which the DPs are suffer- ing. In their address President JKSAC Gurdev Singh and General Secy Netar Parkash told that the matter has already been brought to the notice of concerned authori- ties and even discussed with Advisor to Governor B.B Vyas last month. The advi- sor agreed with the griev- ances and assured that the measures to redress the grievances will be taken soon.
