with gratitude
Thank you for a fantastic festival season!
We appreciate your support of the 41st Annual Atlanta Jazz
Festival and are honored to be the keepers of this proud
tradition. It is with great pleasure that we provide this platform
for both aspiring and renowned musicians, as well as provide
this rich cultural experience for residents and visitors.
This year the Atlanta Jazz Festival presented an exciting and diverse
array of jazz talent on three stages in Piedmont Park throughout
the festival weekend, including a full day devoted to female-forward
performances on all three stages. With 31 Days of Jazz, we presented
or partnered in 52 different jazz events throughout the months of May.
We simply could not have made this happen without the
support of Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and the Atlanta City
Council, our sponsors, media partners, Atlanta Jazz Festival,
Inc. Board of Directors, AJF Society Members, 31 Days of Jazz
Entertainment Partners, OCA staff members, festival crew, and
our festival patrons. To every single one of you: thank you!
We were honored to present the 41st Atlanta Jazz Festival with your
support. We look forward to continuing to entertain aficionados
and expose new listeners to the rich heritage of Jazz music.
Yours in Jazz,
Camille Russell Love
Executive Director,
Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs
City of Atlanta

aboutAtlanta Jazz Festival is regarded as one of the
largest FREE jazz festivals in the country. An
annual celebration of the music, culture and
art of jazz begins in May and culminates each
Memorial Day weekend, with an outdoor festival
featuring jazz artists from all over the world.
Atlanta Jazz Festival (www.atlantafestivals.com) is
produced by the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office
of Cultural Affairs (www.ocaatlanta.com). It is FREE
and open to the public. Atlanta Jazz Festival
is funded through the support of the City of
Atlanta, corporate sponsorships, as well as
Atlanta Jazz Festival, Inc., a non-profit entity
dedicated to preserving the legacy of the
Atlanta Jazz Festival.
missionThe mission of the Atlanta Jazz Festival is to
expose and entertain a diverse audience of Jazz
aficionados, young Jazz enthusiasts and aspiring
musicians to the rich heritage and variety of
Jazz as an authentic form of American music.
summaryThe Atlanta Jazz Festival kicked off its 41st
year of free jazz concerts in Piedmont Park
over Memorial Day Weekend, May 26 – 27,
2018. The festival feels fortunate to be able to
showcase the talents of so many artists year
after year. Jazz is a musical genre that can get
overlooked, and this festival strives to show
younger generations how truly innovative jazz
is and how it influences the music of today.
Leading up to Memorial Weekend, the Mayor’s
Office of Cultural Affairs scheduled 31 days of
jazz performances throughout metro Atlanta.
Various artists performed at specified MARTA
stations for MARTA Mondays, the Colony
Square Helipad for Jazz in the Sky on Tuesdays,
Suite Jazz Lounge for the Suite Jazz Series on
Thursdays, Twilight Jazz at Atlantic Station on
Fridays, Jazz in the Airport Atrium at Hartsfield-
Jackson International Airport, local public parks
for the Neighborhood Jazz Series and more.
The festival in Piedmont Park featured three
stages: the Next Gen Stage, the Contemporary
Stage and the Legends Stage. On Saturday,
all three stages featured all female headliners
including Linda May Han Oh Quintet (Next
Gen Stage), Jazzmeia Horn (Contemporary
Stage) and Dianne Reeves (Legends Stage).
The Next Gen Stage and the Contemporary
Stage also spotlighted rising stars such as
Sasha Berliner Escapades, Shayna Steele, Cory
Henry & The Funk Apostles over the weekend.
The Wind Creek Legends Stage was honored
to headline great talents such as The Bad
Plus and Jon Batiste with the Dap-Kings.

social media app SpokeHub. The app, which focuses on real-
time social media engagement, included a main Atlanta Jazz
Festival “Hub” and three “Sub Hubs” for each stage at the
festival. In the two-day span of the festival, the Hubs received

31 days of jazz
The Atlanta Jazz Festival attracted 500,000+
participants throughout the 31 Days of Jazz
program. 31 Days of Jazz features festival-
produced events - such as MARTA Mondays,
the Neighborhood Jazz Series, and the Late
Night Jazz Concerts – as well as featuring
jazz-related events produced by our
Entertainment Partners in their own venues.
Our partners get the opportunity to highlight
their establishment as a member of the jazz
community, while the Atlanta Jazz Festival
provides marketing, public relations and
promotional support through press releases,
social media and collateral materials. Together,
we ensure there is jazz to be heard in
metropolitan Atlanta every single day of May!
