Blood platelet concentrate in a plasma-free medium. Method for storage of blood platelets in a plasma-free medium which comprises cen- trifuging plasma to obtain a platelet pellet, removing the supernatant plasma, and resuspen- ding the platelet pellet in a balanced salt medium. The balanced salt medium is an isotonic solution and may be selected from well known physiologically tolerable salt mediums. Additives to enhance platelet storage can be ad- ded to the salt medium.

The invention relates to an antibiotic poly- peptide compound, or addition salt thereof. having a molecular weight no greater than 10000 and possessing bactericidal and bacteriolytic ac- tivities in respect of Gram-positive bacteria, the said compound comprising within the molecular structure thereof amino acid derivative units of formulae See Patent for Chemical Structure wherein NH2-RI-COOH, NH2-R2-COOH, NH2-R3-COOH. NH2-R4-COOH, NH2-R5- COOH, NH2-R6-COOH and NH2-R7-COOH respectively represent isoleucine, phenylalanine, alanine, aspartic acid. glutamic acid, lysine and glycine and See Patent for Chemical Structure represents proline The invention further pro- vides a process for the preparation of antibiotic polypeptides by the aerobic culturing of a strain of S. epidermidis. The invention also provides compositions comprising antibiotic substances and methods of treatment therewith. The inven- tion further provides a new strain of Staphylococcus epidermidis which produces the antibiotic polypeptides, compositions con- taining the said strain and a method of cosmetic or prophylactic treatment of the human skin with such compositions.

Microvesicles are stabilized by the incorporation of a polymer having aliphatic lipophilic groups with a chain of at least six atoms attached to the backbone thereof. Such microvesicles may in- corporate a physiologically active substance such as an antigenic material, an anti- inflammatory agent, a hormone, etc.
