Remembrance and Peace
Lord Jesus Christ,
Those whom we remember this month are examples of your words.
Greater love than this no one has than to lay down one’s life for a friend.
This month we remember all those
Who lived and died for us; their energy and their effort to defend
Our freedom for our loved ones and for our country
Teach us to appreciate the value of patriotism…
A true and Christian love of country
Let us grow in a love for our country that consists not of following blindly.
But of working together to make it the land of goodness that it should be.
Let our patriotism be such that it will not exclude
The other nations of the world, but include them
In a powerful love of country
That has room for all others too.
Amen
November is a significant month of remembrance. All Saints Day, All Souls Day and Remembrance Day invite us to be mindful of those who have made sacrifices for us. As a Faith Community, we ask that God grant them rest and help us to continue to live our lives through our good words and actions. Let us also pray that God gives us strength to be peace keepers. Please join us at 10:50 a.m. on November 11th for our Remembrance Day Ceremony.
Thank you to all those who have helped make the first two months of the school year successful. Students have settled into a routine, completing their work to the best of their ability. As always, if you have concerns regarding your child’s progress, please contact the classroom teacher.
Thank you to staff, parents and students for generously donating to our Thanksgiving Food Drive. Your donations were truly appreciated!!
A reminder that all sacramental registrations are done through St. Mary’s Church. If you have any questions regarding sacramental preparations, please contact the church. We appreciate the opportunity to work in

School Hours
Our school day starts promptly at 8:30 a.m. It is essential that students arrive on time for school to participate in all aspects of classroom learning. Students who arrive late miss important teaching and learning time, and, they interrupt the learning of the entire class. Please ensure your child is at
school by 8:25 a.m. each day.
If your child will be late or absent, please call (905-450-0571) and leave a message on our answering machine. This will assist in making certain that students are safe and accounted for.
Inclement Weather Procedures
During the winter months, inclement weather may cause disruption of transportation and regular school operations. On days when the weather is extremely hazardous, we ask that you listen to the announcements that are broadcast on local radio stations.
IF SCHOOL BUSES ARE CANCELLED IN THE MORNING DUE TO SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS, THEY WILL NOT OPERATE FOR THE TAKE-HOME RUN EITHER, EVEN IF THE WEATHER CONDITIONS IMPROVE.
You may go to www.stopr.ca for daily bus cancellations or delays.

ECO-Schools
St. Kevin’s Elementary School is an ECO SCHOOL and, the past two years, we have received GOLD Certification. Every year we must apply to maintain
or exceed this status.
We need to qualify at the Gold level for three years in a row before we can move to the next level, which is Platinum! So, we are going for GOLD in 2017!
Each class has two designate representatives who will assist with various ECO-Green Team initiatives throughout the year. How can you help? Pack a litter-less lunch, use recyclable containers, and bring a re-fillable water bottle. Every little bit helps Keeping it Green at St. Kevin’s!
Pizza Days
Movie Night on October 28th featuring “Finding Dory” was a huge success. Many thanks to the Catholic School Council for
organizing and sponsoring the event! A huge “Thank You”, as well, to the parents and guardians who volun-
teered their time to assist that even-
