THANK YOU to our VOLUNTEERS!

Since the reopening of our collaborative, our faith-ful volunteers in both parishes have never ceased to amaze me. "I love my parish," someone said, "and I will do whatever it takes to help." Week after week, or even day after day in some cases, our amazing volunteers show up faithfully to make sure that we can open our doors safely. They have taken on so many different tasks and responsibilities such as greeting and ushering parishioners, cleaning, sanitizing, checking the temperature, turning off the lights, and even making sure the church is secure and locking up every door before they go home. It is impossible to put a price on what they do on a regular basis. For all these and for every little act of kindness they perform every day through grace, I'm grateful beyond words. I feel blessed to be at your service here. I really am. I have seen some parents alongside their entire house-hold teaching the next generation the meaning of the love of God and the love of neighbor. Every day I have seen also single women and men, husbands and wives, and staff members giving a 'helping hand,' when we need it the most. Every day I pray for you and your fami-lies trusting that you may never lose the reward of your great labor of love. Since the beginning of the pandemic, I have participated in many webinars held by the Archdiocese of Boston. During those webinars, priests across the Archdiocese of Boston often speak of the great kindness and hospi-tality of their parishioners. Here in Walpole, not only do I see the depths of your love for God and for one anoth-er by what you do and say, but I also notice first hand your great love for the common good. I was worried ' sick' during the lockdown about keeping our doors open and our employees on the payroll. Time and time again, your generosity has come through. Those who can't come to Mass due to physical illness or for fear of catching the virus watch the Holy Mass on Boston Catholic, but they do not forget their weekly contributions to the parish. Every week, we receive

their loving gifts along with some heartwarming notes in the envelopes, which read in part "I miss you, I miss my church" and "I hope to be back soon." In the mean-time, know that I'm praying for you and your loved ones that you be safe. These lovely notes remind me of God's kindness, and His concerns for humanity. He has be-stowed every spiritual and material blessing upon us. And at the proper time, He gave us His Only Begotten Son to save us from sin and eternal death. Just as we can't put a price on love, I can't put a price on your great love for God and His Holy Church. For all you have done and do, from the bottom of my heart, a big thank you. Until I see you all in our pews packed with good and faithful daughters and Sons of Our Only True and Living God, know that I hold you dear in my heart. Be stay safe and healthy. WELCOME BACK!

The Archdiocese of Boston has provided guidelines as we slowly re-open our churches. We ask that everyone follow these guidelines strictly and be patient as we begin to move forward.

1. Cardinal O’Malley has dispensed everyone, of our Sunday obligation indefinitely. With this in mind, people in vulnerable populations (over the age of 65), especially the elderly and those who have existing health concerns are encouraged to watch Mass from their homes on the television or internet (CatholicTV). People who are not able to wear a mask for health reasons should also stay home and partake in the cele-bration of Mass through CatholicTv and the internet.

2. Mass Schedule: Blessed Sacrament Parish 4pm Mass on Saturday, and 8am, 9:30am, 11am Mass on Sunday. St. Mary's 4pm on Saturday and 7:30am, 9am and 11:30am on Sun-day. There will be no hospitality until further notice. Churches will open 15 minutes before the scheduled time for Mass. Daily Mass at 8:30am will be held at St. Mary's Monday-Wednesday and Blessed Sacrament Thursday-Saturday. St. Mary's will be locked after Daily Mass. Private prayer continues in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. 3. Attendees at the Masses will be severely limited due to the need to maintain distancing. Families and those who live to-gether may occupy one bench or row. Single individuals will be distanced from each other by 6 feet. When the churches are “full” based on these seating restrictions, parishioners will be asked to attend another mass. Attendees will need to reserve a spot each week on our SignUp portal or call the parish offic-es. Also, it is very important that you please make sure you arrive on time or early for Mass since there is an added step now with signing people in. To reserve a spot for either a WEEKEND or DAILY Mass or to VOLUNTEER please use our website or call the parish offices (Blessed Sacrament 508-668-4700 x1024 or St. Mary's 508-668-4974) to have your name added to the Mass attendee list. **Updated SignUp's will be available on our website on Mon-day and will close on Friday at 3pm so that we can prepare for the weekend. Also, people need to register each week for a Mass time slot and due to our space limitation, it is important that you cancel your registration if necessary so the spot can be offered to another parishioner.

4. Both churches will utilize one entryway (Main entrance at both BSP & STM – handicap entrance will be available too). Parishioners will be asked to proceed up the center aisle and either sit on the inside pews or continue around to the outside pews. Keeping in mind the 6’ social distance rule.

5. Missallettes have been removed and there will be no con-gregational singing, nor will choirs be allowed until further notice. Mass will not begin with a procession nor will there be an offertory procession. Baskets will be placed at the doors for

the offertory collection. We encourage on-line giving and mail ins. There will be no sign of peace or the holding of hands dur-ing the Our Father.

6. All parishioners over the age of 5 are asked to wear a mask that covers their nose and mouth during Mass. At Com-munion time, parishioners are asked to come to communion by the center aisle and return by the side aisle, observing the 6 feet distance markers on the floor. Everyone should leave their seat or bench, even if you do not plan to receive Com-munion, in order to avoid people having to step over one an-other. Please fully extend your arm with hands cupped as the priest/Eucharistic Minister drops the host into your hand. Please step to the side, where the floor is marked, lift up the bottom of your mask and place the host in your mouth before returning to your seat.

7. At the end of Mass, please leave the church immediately by the front side doors but do so, row by row, maintaining the 6-foot distance requirement. Please leave in an orderly fashion and please go directly to your car – there is no gathering al-lowed.

8. Daily Masses have resumed at 8:30am and will be Monday-Wednesday at St. Mary’s and Thursday - Saturday at Blessed Sacrament. Sign up on our website for Daily Mass or call St. Mary's 508-668-4974 or Blessed Sacrament 508-668-4700 to place your name on the attendee list. 9. We are in need of volunteers to help manage the flow of foot traffic, ushering at each Mass and to help clean between Masses. Please sign up on our website.

10. Only priests and deacons are allowed in the sacristy.

11. Confessions: Wednesdays 7-8 pm Blessed Sacrament Sanc-tuary (Saturday 3pm Confessions have been suspended).

12. Parishioners are invited and encouraged to bring their own hand sanitizer to Mass. We will also have hand sanitizer availa-ble throughout the church.

*In the case of our discovering that someone at Mass tests posi-tive for COVID-19, we want to be able to inform all of you so that, in consultation with your physician, you can take the appropri-ate steps. If you registered to come to a Mass, we already have your con-tact information, and will reach out to you if we learn that some-one here has tested positive. If you did not register, and if you wish to be contacted, please call or email the rectory with the appropriate contact infor-mation so that you can receive a notification. Even if you do not choose to leave your name, please know that we will make any announcement of a positive test on the parish website as well, so please check the website on a regular basis. Also, If you are not feeling well please stay home and if you find you need to change your weekend plans please cancel your timeslot so that we can offer it to someone else. Thank you.

Group baptisms will still be taking place on the sec-ond Sunday of the month at 1pm at St. Mary's and again at 2pm, if numbers warrant. Group baptisms at Blessed Sacrament take place on the third Sunday of the month at 12:30pm and 1:30pm, if needed.

Cardinal Seán O'Malley has announced a Year of the Eucharist to bolster the faith of those who already believe in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist and to encourage those who struggle with this belief. Over the course of the next year and a half, the Cardinal invites all Catholics in the Archdiocese of Boston to learn more about the Eucharist and to spend more time before the Eucharistic Lord, ask-ing Him to reveal Himself to you.

One way to learn more about the Real Presence and help others is to become a Collaborative Mission-ary or Witness. A Missionary will commit to prayer, participate in Collaborative events and promote the power of the Eucharist. A witness will have the opportunity to share a testimony on the impact the Eu-charist has had on their life. If you are willing to commit to the three P's - Prayer, Participation, and Promotion, then please register through Constant Con-tact and the Archdiocese will send you a Eucharistic Missionary pin, prayer card, and commitment guide. Please note, the Archdiocese will for-ward each coordinator the names of those who sign up in your our commu-nity, (a person doesn't have to be a part of any one parish or school to be-come a missionary. S T S How should we read the Bible in the 21st century? Often we hear that the Bible is unscientific or even immoral.

Some simply say an ancient text has no claim on our lives today. Over four, seminar-style sessions we will look at

reading the Bible within the Tradition of the Church according to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Sec-

ond Vatican Council’s teaching Dei Verbum, and Pope Benedict XVI’s Verbum Domini. The goal of our time to-

gether will be to deepen our Faith in the Word who is “the same yesterday, today and forever” (Heb. 13:8) and

equip students for evangelism in the mission fields of their schools.

The sessions are aimed towards students in high school and college but open to anyone. The sessions will hap-

pen mid to late July. The exact times, dates, and location will be determined collectively by the group interested

in order to accommodate the most possible students.

The instructor is Josh Lehman. A local catechist, Josh holds an M.A. in Theology from Holy Apostles College and

Seminary. He is a father of 5 and a graduate student in philosophy at Boston College.

Since Jesus invited His first followers to, “Come, follow me”, the image of journey has been used to describe Christian faith. A journey marked with moments of con-version along the way….. from unbelief to faith, from sin to repentance, from painful isolation to the joyful experience of a loving community, from fear to love.

Faith, conversion, repentance, celebration and commu-nity – five basic elements that are present in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). The RCIA provides a small group setting where the journey of faith and mo-ments of conversion can be celebrated within the local Church community. The purpose of the RCIA is literally “to set our hearts on spiritual gifts” as St. Paul wrote to the church in Corinth.
