This introductory course invites the students to learn sociology by looking at his / her formation as a

human being, growing up and living in society to understand the dynamics of social processes and socialchange. It equips the students with a broader understanding of culture and society; the application ofconcepts and theories on the fundamental and organiational functions of society and the application ofmethods and approaches of social investigation in e!plaining social realities.

The understanding and analysis of current "hilippine issues such as those pertaining to marriage, familyplanning, substance abuse, dreaded diseases and population dynamics and change are likewise stressed.
