7IdentityIsolation area
The 4seven identity should alwaysbe surrounded by a minimum area
of space. The area of isolationensures that headlines, text or othervisual elements do not encroach onthe logo.
The area is dened by using one cellof the logo which is referred to as x.A margin of clear space equivalentto x is drawn around the logo tocreate the invisible boundary of thearea of isolation.
This area of separation is a
minimum and should beincreased wherever possible.

8IdentityScale and proportion
There are no predetermined sizesfor the 4seven logo. Scale and
proportion should be determinedby the available space, aesthetics,function and visibility.
There is no preset maximum sizefor the 4seven logo. In print theminimum size is 6mm.
For digital uses the minimum sizefor the standard logo is 25 pixels.25 pixels is the smallest size apartfrom when using an ICO. There is aspecic le for ICOs which is a 16px

When using the 4seven logo thefollowing rules should be adhered
to at all times.
Distorted

The logotype should never be manipulated,stretched, distorted or cropped.
The logo brand colours should not beswitched in their position. The supplied logosshould be used at all times.
The logo should never be placed on aunspecied brand colour. See page x forcolour settings.
The relationship between the four and theseven should never be changed.
The logo should never be have drop shadowsor other graphic effects added.
Take care when placing the logo over animage. It should never obscure the focus ofthe picture/footage.
The logo should not be altered in any way.

Secondary colours
The 4seven brand has four mastercolours which are used for branding
and backgrounds. It also has threesecondary colours which are usedfor typography and supportinggraphics.
Tints of these colours can be usedwhere required.

The 4seven identity uses a bespokecut of the Channel4 typeface called
4seven which comes in threeweights. On screen graphics shouldalways be set in 4seven Headline.
4seven is supplied in the Open Typeformat and is supported by PC andMac. You should always use thisversion.

During the day the backgroundcolour of the OSP graduates througha light to dark palette. At set times(shown right) the OSP backgroundstake on a gradually darker tone.
The information is displayed in setcolours which relate to time. Seepage 15 for this information.

The layout of on screen typographyis constructed on a grid whichshould be used at all times. It isexible enough to handleall the variations within the onscreen package.
The grid is constructed of eightcolumns and four rows. Place thetype in relation to the brandingusing a clear space at all times.The baseline of the rst line of copyshould sit on the top of a row wherepossible. The copy should be leftaligned at all times.

There are two menu types. One forwhen three shows are included andthe other for one and two shows.They are the same apart from theplacement and animation of thetypography. On a two and three upthe type animates from the baseof the copy block. On a one up itanimates off the show title X height.
Menu type animates by apercentage of 25% from its smallerto larger state. The type is set atsize A before being animated.
The leading return between thetype blocks is 75% of a normalreturn.
