Katekesis sa Santos nga Misa

Sa Abril 22-24, ang Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SSVP_Philippines), magahiwat sang ila national convention sa Punta Villa, Iloilo City nga may tema “Witnessing the Faith with the Poor.” Sa sini man nga okasyon, magaselebrar sang bicentennial (200th) birthday si Blessed Frederic Ozanam, founder sang Society sa Abril 23. Madamo nga mga delegado ang magaabot halin sa Luzon, Visayas, kag Mindanao. Ang SSVP isa ka international nga organisasyon nga ang mga

katapo pulos tanan laiko. Subong, makita ang iya presensya sa 148 ka mga pungsod sa bug-os nga kalibutan. May mga katapo ini nga malapit isa ka milyon, kag 1.5 milyon nga mga volunteers nga nagabulig para sa mga imol. Diri sa Pilipinas, may yara kita nga mga 6,000 ka katapo, sa 10 ka rehiyon sang pungsod.

Kabay pa nga ang pangamuyo kag malipayon nga pagpanaksi sang Ebanghelyo sang mga katapo sang pamilya, urna, MKK, kag mga religious organizations diri sa aton parokya magbulig sagod kag patubo sang binhi sang bokasyon sa aton mga kabataan agod sila mangin maalwan sa paghalad sang ila kaugalingon sa pag-alagad sa Dios kag sa ila isigkatawo.

Ilakip naton sa pangamuyo ang dose (12) ka mga seminarista sang aton parokya: tatlo (3) sa ila yara na sa Theology; duha (2) sa Philosophy; kag pito (7) sa High School. I-upod ta man sa aton pag-ampo ang mga manugsulod sa seminaryo sa sini nga tuig. Pangamuyo para sa mga Bokasyon, luyag ko balikan kag ipaambit sa inyo ang kasaysayan sang pagtawag

sa akon sang Ginuo sa pagkapari. Suno sa akon ginikanan,

diutayan lang ako masunog sang ako isa ka bulan kag tatlo ka adlaw ang edad. Nasunugan ang apartment nga gina-istaran namon sa Manila kag daku na ang kalayo sang natalupangdan ni Nanay nga wala pa ako gali nakuha sa kwarto sang akon pakaisa nga nagabantay sa amon ni Manong. Gani, nagdalidali si Nanay dalagan para luwason ako. Nasapwan niya ako nga nagakatulog sing mahamuok sa pihak, nga dako na ang kalayo.

Maski matuod nga wala pa ako sing buot sang sadto nga tion, nagapati ako nga ang inang hitabo may dako nga kaangtanan sa akon pagkapari. Naluwas ako sa kalayo agod matuman ang handom sang Dios para sa akon nga mangin pari.

Halin Grade III hasta high school, nagabulig na ako sa amon parokya bilang akolito. Ginapukaw gid kami ni Nanay adlaw-adlaw agod magsimba. Maski manami pa

ang magtulog, nagakadto kami sang akon magulang sa simbahan agod magsirbe sa misa.

Isa man ako ka Legionary sang una. Diri ko natun-an ang magpalangga kay Maria kag magpangamuyo sang Santo Rosario. Nagaduaw kami sa mga masakiton kag mga priso kag nagaagda kami sa iban nga magsimba ilabi na gid sa adlaw sang Domingo.

Ang akon parish priest sang una nga si Rev. Fr. Patricio Salarda, nga subong isa na ka Monsignor, amo ang naghatag sa akon inspirasyon nga mangin pari. Isa sia ka simple kag mapinangamuyuon nga alagad ni Kristo. Sa akon lamharon nga edad bilang akolito, naghandom ako nga sundon ang iya maayo nga ehemplo.

Nagsulod ako sa St. Vincent Ferrer Seminary sang June 6, 1998. Sa karon, tatlo na ako ka tuig sa pagkapari kay gin-ordinahan ako sang Oktobre 26, 2009.

64. “Banwa sang Dios.”Pinasahi ini nga ngalan

tungod kay ang nagtukod sini nga Banwa amo mismo ang Dios nga Amay. Ang nagapangulo amo si Kristo kag ang nagahatag kabuhi amo ang Balaan nga Espiritu. Ang ganhaan ukon ang sulodlan agod mangin katapu sini nga banwa amo ang Pagbunyag. Ang mataas nga dignidad ukon kadungganan sini nga banwa kag sang iya mga katapu amo Kahilwayan bilang mga anak sang Dios. Ang Kasugoan amo ang Paghigugma. Kon ini nga banwa nagapabilin nga matutom sa Dios kag nagapasulabi sang mga bagay sa ginharian sang Dios, magabag-o ini sang kalibutan.

(CCC 781-786) Ang Banwa sang

Dios katulad sang asin nga nagahatag kanamit; katulad sang tapay “levadura” nga nagapanalupsup; katulad sang kapawa nga nagatabog sang kadulom. 65. “Lawas ni Kristo”Paagi sa Sakramento sang

66. “TIAYON NI KRISTO”. Ang mag-asawa

amo ang matuod nga imahen sang dinalan sa Genesis 2:24: “Tungod sini, ang lalaki magabiya sang iya amay kag iloy kag magapuyo upod sa iya asawa, kag sila nga duha mangin isa.” Ang paghigugma ni Kristo sa Simbahan tama ka himpit nga ginapaangid ini sa suod nga pagtamdanay sang mag-asawa. Ginahigugma gid ni Kristo ang Simbahan katulad sang nobyo nga nagahigugma sa iya nobya. Tungod sini nga paghigugma ginhatag niya ang iya kabuhi para sa iya kag naghiusa sia sa iya sing walay katapusan(CCC 796). Ang handum ni Kristo para sa aton tanan amo nga hatagan naton sing daku nga kabilinggan ining iya paghigugma.

67. “TEMPLO SANG BALAAN NGA ESPIRITU”

Ang Simbahan amo ang duog sa bug-os nga kalibutan sa diin ang ESPIRITU SANTO yara sing bug-os (CCC 797-

801, 809). Ang Banwa sang Israel nagsimba sa Dios sa Templo didto sa Jerusalem. Wala na ini nga templo subong. Ginbuslan ini sang Simbahan, nga wala nahamtang sa isa lamang ka duog. “Ang tion maga-abot, kag nag-abot na, nga ang matuod nga mga manogsimba magasimba sa Amay, sa Espiritu, kag Kamatuoran” (Juan 4:23). “Kay kon sa diin ang duha ukon tatlo nga nagatipon sa akon ngalan, yara ako sa tunga nila (Mateo 18:20).

Ang Simbahan nagakabuhi tungod sang Espiritu ni Kristo. Yara sia sa Pulong sang Balaan nga Kasulatan kag sa mga Balaan nga Tanda sang mga Sakramento. Nagahigugma sia paagi sa mga tagipusuon sang mga nagahigugma kag nagahambal sia paagi sa ila mga pangamuyo. The full-fledged members of the Children of Mary are active recipients in this cause for change, having lived the grace and piety of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We take part in exchanging. Engaged entirely with a lot of activities, piled paper works and assignments in school which the urban life brings, and even being enclosed in glamorous life yet we are focused on one certain dimension of society, that is, the onslaught of children in squatters’ areas. We ask ourselves, how can they, innocent as they are not able

of the Children of Mary had their catechesis last summer from the start of Flores de Mayo. That was the start when they had met these little children who came back every afternoon for the lectures about God, Jesus and Mary. The COMers also taught these kids the basic prayers and, more especially, how to pray with proper disposition.

After catechizing the children of Tabuc Suba, the COM full-fledged members decided to conduct a series of formations for the children in order to be received as Mary’s Angels. With the support of their Chapel Organizer, Mrs. Lourdes Alquisada, the formation activity ran smoothly.

The number of candidates for COM reception was trimmed down to those truly willing to devote themselves to Mama Mary

at their young age. There were 33 candidates for Mary’s Angels and 5 for affiliates.

The reception on February 24, 2013 was witnessed by key persons in the COM association: Sr. Antonia Cortez, DC, Spiritual Directress of COM of Colegio de San Jose, and Miss Estrellita Monroy. the Archdiocesan President of the COM-VMY Philippines. With them were

three 2nd Year Theology students who observed the reception.

The reception started with the Holy Mass presided by Rev. Fr. Nathaniel Gentizon and the reception proper occurred after the Homily with the children in their white dresses and polos together with their parents. After the Eucharistic celebration a simple Agape followed sponsored by the COM full-fledged.

Subong nga Domingo, ang ika-apat nga Domingo sang Paskwa sang Pagkabanhaw, ginatawag man nga Good Shepherd Sunday.

Sa Santos nga Ebanghelyo, si Jesus nagsiling nga kilala sang Iya mga karnero ang Iya tingog. Si William Barclay, isa ka biblical scholar nagsulat nga ang mga karnero sadto nga panahon tama kalapit sa ila mga manugbantay ukon manugtatap sa bagay nga kilala gid sang mga katapo sang panong ang tingog sang ila manugtatap kag amo lamang ina nga tingog ang ila ginasunod. Amo ini ang isa sa mga rason kon nga-a sa estorya sang nadula nga karnero, ang manugtatap kampante nga nagbilin sang 99 niya ka mga karnero para pangitaon ang isa nga nadula. Iya nahibaluan nga indi maglakat ang 99 kon indi sila makabati sang iya tingog. Amo ini ka suod sang relasyon sang manugtatap sa iya panong. Sia nagabantay sa ila pero indi lang ini ang iya ginahimo. Sia nagatatap gid sang ila mga kinahanglanon kag sia handa man sa paghalad sang iya kabuhi para sa ila. This total devotion of the shepherd to his flock is reciprocated by the total loyalty of the said flock to their shepherd. That

Ini nga tingog sang manugtatap ginatawag nga Shepherd’s Voice nga nangin palatandaan sang pagpalangga kag pag-ulikid sang manugtatap sa iya panong. And so we call Jesus as the Good Shepherd. We know that His love is unconditional and willingly went through pains and sufferings that culminated in his death because of this love.

John 10:27-30. “My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. What my Father has given me is greater than all else, and no one can snatch it out of the Father’s hand. The Father & I are one.”

John 10:27-30 speaks of how much Jesus loves His flock, His children – those who have been faithful and loyal to Him – and how protective He is to them. They are the ones who listen to His voice, and follow His teachings. In some instances they may have gone astray, but Jesus always snatches them away from evil, because He will never allow evil to snatch His children away from Him. Once they are gone and enter the after-life, Jesus promises to bring them to His eternal Kingdom in heaven. Jesus is the only gate of the people of God, and He alone can call somebody to take care of His flock. There is no merit or claim of our own that could give us access to the people of God.

Each day of our life, Jesus walks with us. He is always beside us; He always keeps us safe and away from evil and danger. He listens to our little problems. Even if we don’t tell Him and just keep these thoughts to ourselves,

He knows. He can read our mind. He knows when we need help, and even gives help even without our asking. He knows when danger or evil lurks in the corner, and guides us away from them. As we go through our daily routine, however, we sometimes fail to realize that little miracles like these actually happen. Worse, we sometimes take them for granted.

There have been so many instances in my life when such miracles did happen and made me realize that Jesus is actually beside me. He is with me anytime, as he can be with you, and millions or billions of others more, at the same time. He is omnipresent.

More than a decade ago, my friend received a check worth about P60,000.00 from his insurance. This was unexpected. He was happy, and he started to think what to do with it – save or splurge. When he arrived home in the evening, his sister was worried because his father could no longer endure his stomach pain and had to be brought to the hospital to be operated upon. Wasn’t that coincidence a miracle? Jesus provided him with the needed cash just in time! For him, it was a miracle and it strengthened his faith in God much more. This was

repeated many times after that. There was a time when he nearly collided with another vehicle and Jesus veered him away from it just at the right time.

E v e r y o n e e n c o u n t e r s problems almost every day, and many times we feel that we have been driven into a corner with no ray of hope, no solutions in sight. But we should never give up because Jesus will always lead us to a solution. But we do not just wait for solutions; we must exert effort to find one, and Jesus will always hold us in His arms and lead us to where the solution lies.

My friend always tells me and our other friends that he is a born survivor. Why? It’s all because of his great faith in God. He is afflicted with many ailments – heart problems, diabetes, arthritis, etc. He has witnessed many who were driven to depression under these circumstances, but Jesus always shows him the way. Jesus makes him understand and he is able to adapt to the discomforts brought by his

ailments. Jesus provides him with loving and caring relatives and friends.

Every day, upon waking up, I first thank Jesus for giving me another day of my borrowed life and I surrender myself to Him. I pray that He blesses me with enough courage and grace to accept whatever is in store for me, and grant me peace of mind and peace in my heart. The choir of the Family for Christ Community (FFC) is greatly challenged of the assignment given them by the Jaro Cathedral. It has to serve the 6:30 morning Masses during Sundays.

Bro. Sandy and Sis. Dahlia Jamero, the Pastoral Leaders in-charge of the group feel this is quite a serious responsibility. They feel there is an urgent need to

secure a qualified trainer in order that the performance of the choir would be a worth offering to our Creator. They seek the advice of Rev. Fr. Alejandro Esperancilla, Rector of St. Vincent Ferrer Seminary. He recommended Mr. Rey Agustin Cuanang, a graduate of Philosophy in the said seminary for the task. Serving as organists are Mr. Dante Villanueva with

Mr. Kristopher Balbastro, a fourth year student and Mr. Ryan Calica, a graduate also of St. Vincent Ferrer Seminary.

The performance of the choir has tremendously improved, which is worth listening and meditating by the parishioners. As the saying runs, constant and correct practice makes perfect. Backed up by this

saying their Trainers set every Saturday at 6:30 p.m. for practice in the Jaro Cathedral.

The choir members who, most of them do not have formal music education have benefitted so much from this experience. They are so grateful to their trainers who are instrumental in honing their talents.

Let us do something now to improve our relationship with God. Let us get out of the dark cloud of judging people and resurrect with Jesus to a new life – accepting our shortcomings, mending our broken relationships with people whom we have hurt.

Do not have pre-historic minds, striking to the differences and reviving unpleasant memories.

Last April 6, I have witnessed and enjoyed a Grand Reunion of Hearts in Pototan, at the Pototan Pilot Elementary School. The Grade VI graduates of that public school, where I was once a member of the faculty, had organized an alumni homecoming, which was also the Golden Jubilee Celebration of Class 1963.

Since I have already witnessed some of these celebrations, I thought that it would be the same. However, I was wrong. It was a beautiful occasion which started with a spiritual activity.

At exactly 9:30, Rev. Fr. Lee P. Leonida, Parish Priest of the Spousal of Mary and Joseph Parish in Buntatala, Jaro, celebrated the Mass. Regardless of religious affiliation, everybody went to Mass. Those who were Catholics received Holy Communion. After the Mass, donations to the school and gifts to one another were blessed; the prayer before meal was led by Fr. Leonida. It was beautiful to feel that God was given the first and most important place in the reunion.

After the meal, a program followed where the Lord was mentioned by all the speakers: Mr. Andrei Celis, Principal I of the school, who welcomed the group; Mr. Roger Lesondato, President, PPES General Alumni Association; Atty. Elmer Camarista, President Alumni Association; Choir of 1963, and the commentators.

When Mayor Pablo Perez of the Municipality of Pototan also

gave the Lord his priority, it was very touching.

Dr. Tessie S. Pedregosa, Vice President of the Alumni Association of 1963, also mentioned the Lord now and then in her closing remarks.

I did not regret that I have gone to the Reunion which was spiritually filled. Something tugged at my heart when I saw the grotto which our late District Supervisor, Mr. Vicente Luntao, caused to be built beneath the window by the school’s library. During my time, I made some children pray the rosary after our Physical Education period, and one day, Mrs. Rosa Paniza, a Grade Two teacher, excitedly ran to me, saying that the Mother of Perpetual Help image could be seen on the glass window.

This inspired more teachers and students to have a devotion to the Holy Rosary. It gives spiritual richness. With so many crimes, so

many calamities happening in the world today, we need the Light of Christianity to guide us. We need the beam from heaven.

We have our faults, yes, who doesn’t? But there is always room for change. We cannot stay in the dark forever. We cannot nourish our negative traits and let them control our character.

Let us have a grand reunion of hearts starting with a spiritual overhaul. We know our deficiencies. We know our weak points. But we also know our strength and we know what we can do; above all, we only have to summon our courage and faith, and everything will fall into its proper place again. God is simply waiting.

Let us all be soldiers of Christ, with the cross as our banner, the Blood of Christ as our reminder, the beauty and glory of heaven with God the Father as the crowning glory of our love and sacrifice.

Nagasimbolo man ini sang masakit nga kamatayon ni Kristo para sa aton, nga sa iya daku nga kaalwan ginhatag niya ang iya kaugalingon sa tanan.

Sa pagpamihakpihak sang tinapay, ang selebrante nagapihak sang ostyas nga daku kag ang bahin sini iya ginapakalawat sa mga luyag magkalawat (ginabutang niya ini sa ciborium). Sa sini nga paagi, bisan matuod ang aton
