While arriving on March 26, 2017, your team members must bring their original CNICs, Institute Ids and authority letter for registration in the event they compete for as per schedule of the festival. CHARACTER BUILDING SOCIETY

Essay writing competition

Rules: Essay can be written in English and Urdu. Essay must contain at least 500-1000 words Essay must not be plagiarized Essay must be submitted on [email protected] before 21th March Essay must be relevant to the topic.

Topics:

1. Corruption – A social menace. 2. Corruption—A cancer for social fabric. 3. Corruption--- Its causes and strategies for its eradication.

Time for Qiraat will be 3 to 5 minutes. Any verse from the Holy Quran can be recited. During Qiraat, verse will not be repeated. Marks will be awarded on the basis of pronunciation and delivery.

Only one participant can participate from each institute. Decision of judges will be final

Ÿ Competition will be bilingual that is in English and Urdu.Ÿ The competition will comprise of two rounds.Ÿ Four teams will qualify for final round along with two individual speakers from each language.Ÿ There will be team participation comprising of two speakers, however, an individual competitor may

also participate.Ÿ This is a compulsion for a team that if one member of the team chooses a serious topic from one

language, the second member will choose a humorous topic from the other language and vice versa.Ÿ Time limit will be minimum 03 minutes and maximum 05 minutes, in the initial round & 4-6 minutes in

the final round.Ÿ Paper reading will not be allowed.Ÿ Speakers will not be allowed to make objectionable, vulgar or indecent remarks about any religion,

Lyallpur Parliamentary Debating Championship 2017 (LPDC ‟17):

The Debating Club, UAF has been conducting the Parliamentary Debates since 2014 . In this regard, the Debating Club has earned its repute in the national circuit to be quite something! The Society is going to organize

rdthe 3 edition of Lyallpur Parliamentary Debating Championship 2017 (LPDC’17) and we proudly present it to you as a rigorous debating venture, where you shall have an insightful and unforgettable experience. LPDC’17 is a British style debating championship. The medium of debate will be Urdu only.

**Registration fee per team is Rs.1000/-. (Including three days accommodation) Rules and Regulations of Parliamentary Debating Championship 2017 I. The debate will consist of four teams of two persons each (persons will be known as "members"), a chairperson (known as the "Speaker of the House" or "Mister/Madame Speaker" and an adjudicator or panel of adjudicators. II. Teams will be given 20 minutes‟ time for the case preparation after the announcement of the topic. III. Members will deliver substantive speeches of 7 minutes duration in the following order:

Model United Nations (AGMUN’ 17)AGMUN is the Model UN event of the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad which has been becoming bigger and better,since its launching in 2015. AGMUN has now grown up into a 2 committee Model UN simulation event with the committees named PNA and UNGA. The topics for table talk to the delegates will be given via the Facebook page of the Debating Club, UAF (www.facebook.com/thedebatingclubuaf).Be there at the AGMUN so that together, being a part of the Model Pakistan National Assembly (PNA) and the United Nation General Assembly (UNGA) we can propose policies to counter the global and national threats to the country. The first and the last minute of every speaker’s speech will be the protected minute during which no member from the opposition teams will be allowed to question the speaker, the team will be penalized in case the member is found violating the protected time. Mushaira Competition 1. There will be ten categories for the competition: Urdu Ghazal, Urdu Nazm, Punjabi Ghazal, Bait

Bazi, English Poem, English Short story and Urdu Afsana, Punjabi Nazm, Urdu Essay and English Essay. 2. Plagiarism will be checked for all written competitions.

Rules and Regulations:

· Ghazal should be written according to the given Traha Misra.

· Ghazal should not be more than 5 verses and the one which exceeds the limit will get negative marks.

· Each participant has to submit four copies of the Ghazal, at least, one hour before the start of the competition.

· Each University/College can nominate only one participant for the Urdu Ghazal competition.

· The criteria of judgment will be based upon: o Behr/wazan o Presentation and Pronunciation. o Quality of thought.

· Decision of judges cannot be challenged in any case. · Registration fee: Rs. 500/- per participant.


· The Nazm should be according to the given title.

· Only Azad Nazm or Paband Nazm is acceptable.

· Nasri Nazm will not be entertained.

· Presentation of Nazm should not exceed the time limit of three minutes; one which exceeds the time limit will earn negative marks.

· Each participant has to submit 4 copies of the Nazm at least one hour before the start of competition.

· Each University/College can nominate only one participant for the Urdu Nazm competition.

· Any conflicting issue (caste, religion etc.) in the theme of poem must be avoided and will be discouraged.

· Each participant has to submit four copies of the poem at least one hour before the start of competition.

· Each University/College can nominate only one participant for the poem competition.

· The criteria of judgment will be based upon: o Rhyme scheme. o Presentation and Pronunciation. o Quality of thought.

· The Decision of judges will be final and cannot be challenged in any case. · Registration fee: Rs. 500/- per participant.

Bait Bazi Competition:


· Each team will consist of two participants.

· Each University/College can nominate only one team for Bait Bazi Competition.

· There will be two rounds of the competition, the first round will be of 15 verses and second one of 10 verses.

· All teams must keep in mind the ethical and moral values while selecting the verses.

· A verse, once recited, should not be repeated.

· The conscious attack of Radeef is prohibited; violation will result in deduction of mark.

· The criteria of judgment will be based upon:

· Metre (Behr/wazan)

· Presentation and Pronunciation

· Quality of the verses

· Originality of the verses

· Each verse will carry the value of 3 marks, and each mistake will result in the loss of one mark.

· In case of more than one mistake in a single verse, marks equal to the number of mistakes will be deducted from the total marks of the team.


· If any team fails to respond to a verse from the other team, all three marks of that verse will be deducted from the total marks of that team.

· Decision of judges cannot be challenged in any case.

· Registration fees: Rs. 500/- per team.


· Each University/College can nominate only one participant for the Afsana competition. · Each participant is allowed to write Afsana on any one of the given topics. · Afsana should comprise of 1000-1300 words only. · Criteria of judgment will be based on theme and quality of thoughts. · Any conflicting issue (regarding caste, religion etc.) in the theme of Afsana must be avoided and

will be discouraged. · It must be submitted till 10th March, 2017 via email (in-page file) on mailing address

([email protected]) and will not be accepted by post. · Participants must provide their phone numbers & Institute name in the covering letter of the

email. · Winners will be announced via email or phone. · Position holders will be invited at prize distribution ceremony.· Decision of judges cannot be challenged in any case. · Registration fee of Rs. 300/winner will be received on prize distribution ceremony.

VIRSA MUSIC SOCIETY (SUFI SONGS COMPETITION:) Rules and Regulations:

· Every participating institute can register more then one team (comprising of 2 Members) for the competition.

Ÿ Basic softwares like WAMP server, Adobe Photoshop with extra fonts loaded, Notepad++, Dreamweaver and sublime editor will be available to the participants.

Ÿ Internet will be provided to the participants during the competition to download and use resources such as images, fonts, etc.

Ÿ Teams can't use templates and cascading style sheets that were built by the team before the competition.

Ÿ Individual / Team members will be required to officially register for Website Design Competition.

Ÿ Registration fee is 800/- per team. (Maximum 2 members)

Ÿ The duration of the event is 5 hours.

Ÿ The first round is the qualifying round.

Ÿ Minimum 2 members and Maximum 3 members are allowed to participate in the competition. All the team members' presence is mandatory.

Ÿ The team name and head of the team should be decided before the competition started.

Ÿ Teams should bring their own laptops with required Software's/IDEs installed.

Ÿ Participants must reach in the Lab 30 minutes before the event start so as to test the compilers.

Ÿ Participants are allowed to solve the real world problems in any Programming language.

Ÿ Participants are not allowed to use the Internet during the competition.

Ÿ Participants are not allowed to use the mobile phone during the competition.

Ÿ If any team is caught violating rules and regulations, it will be disqualified from the competition.

Rules & Regulations:

Ÿ Each University can nominate only one participant for Script Writing.

Ÿ Each participant is allowed to write script on any one of the given topics on the day

Ÿ Each participant will write the script on the spot.

Ÿ Criteria of judgment will be based on theme and quality of thoughts.

Ÿ Any conflicting issue (regarding caste, religion etc) in the theme of Script must be avoided and will be strongly discouraged.

Ÿ The decision of judges cannot be challenged in any case.

Ÿ Registration Fee is Rs.1000 per team, Only 1 member allowed per University
