MARGINALIZED STREET CHILDREN AND WOMEN BY PRODUCING ENVIRONMENT
FRIENDLY BAGS WITH CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENDANGERED SPECIES
THEMES (GREEN BAGS)”IRA/SGP/OP5/STAR/CC/12/27(

The Charity of Emam Ali Society is an active group helping the street children and their
mothers or women headed
households through three
established Khaneh Elm to get trained in
order to leave the street jobs.
Through this project supported by GEF SGP environment friendly bags are being
produced advocating climate change and endangered animals themes which not only
would help consume less plastic bags but will also help empower the marginalized children
and women headed households
5.Supporting and empowering women care givers
Main objectives are:1.Promoting people to use green bags instead of plastic bags (Every family in Iran at least purchase 20 plastic bags every week, This means 280 million plastic bags are going to plastic wastes during recycling)2.Supporting endangered species and informing people about them by printing their image on green bags3.Make children interested about endangered animals
4.To help overcome barriers to children’s education
•The target is to cover 40 children in the community.
• This project started with 7 street children; painting the bags after finishing their school time. •5 months later the project involves 12 children who paint 20 bags a day which means 4800 bags in a month.
