Students in school are currently inthe process of taking mandatoryStandards of Learning tests (SOLs). These test are very long and stressful for bothteachers and students, so here is a way your lodge can reward students for their hardwork and dedication. Woodmen of the Worlds American History Award is a programthat has been around for a very long time. This plaque is designed to be presentedto individual students (selected by the school), who are most proficient in American

History. This plaques can be presented to High School, Jr. High and even grade school. Here are a few tips thatyou need to be aware of when presenting these awards.

Make sure the School provides you the correct spelling of the students name.

Make sure the School has a permanent History Plaque for you to update.

Be sure to abide by the schools time frame while presenting this award at theSchools Annual Awards Assembly.

Make sure you get a great picture so that you can upload it to your lodgesFacebook page.

Before the presentation find out if the school needs any flags, patriotichandbooks, or is interested in the StarLab program. If they are, have all of thatwith you to make the presentation even stronger in front of the children, teachersand parents.

Contact Scott or Sheri for these awards.

    FOR THE GEEK SQUAD:

I'd like to share an inspirational Memorial Daystory, The Boys of Iwo Jima by Michael T.Powers, from his book Heart Touchers - Life-Changing Stories of Faith, Love, and Laughter. It's a powerful reminder of the reason wecelebrate Memorial Day.

    Memorial Day Prayer

    Dear Heavenly Father,

As we remember those who have made theultimate sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoyevery day, we think of how they have followed inthe footsteps of your son, our Savior, JesusChrist. Please hold our servicemen and womenin your strong arms. Cover them with your sheltering grace and your presence as theystand in the gap for our protection.

We also remember the families of our troops. We ask for your unique blessings to fill their homes, and we prayyour peace, provision, and strength will fill their lives.

May the members of our armed forces be supplied with courage to face each day and may they trust in theLord's mighty power to accomplish each task. Let our military brothers and sisters feel our love and support.

In the name of Jesus. Amen.
