“
My late husband, Mayor and State Senator Glenn Cunningham, established the Second Chance program in Jersey City. It's been fulfilling to watch this initiative grow and expand throughout New Jersey. The New Jersey Reentry Corporation has provided critically needed services, including addiction treatment, housing referrals, job training and employment, legal services, and linkage to healthcare, which are all necessary to support persons returning from incarceration.”
—SENATOR SANDRA CUNNINGHAM
“
Many formerly incarcerated persons are ‘super utilizers’ of emergency health care services, due to chronic medical conditions, including Hepatitis C, HIV, and diabetes. The early utilization of preventative diagnostic healthcare services with sustained, consistent treatment will enable persons to access healthcare faster, more reliably, and with anticipated better health outcomes. The NJRC provides valuable research and a practical path to enhance success to date.”
