you can even cut or tear fabric into thin strips
organize your yarns by colour in ziplock bags, take small balls off of bigger skeins for portability
tapestry needles with huge eyes work best, and their dull tips prevent the threads from being split and save your fingers
any images that inspire you scissors

also white hockey tape (the kind that looks like fabric) is very useful
I will bring beading kits to class if you would like to buy them, containing beading needles and thread, and beads of assorted sizes and colours, packaged in small bags by colour with a variety in each. Prices will vary.
I bead on a cutting board that is covered with a piece of white felt that is glued on with white glue and I recommend you make yourself one.
This is a very exciting, easy stitch that creates marvellous and interesting results.

Fabric Types: For the straight hem style, use any cotton (light to medium weight) or cotton blends. For the drop hem style, use a lightweight textile with nice drape, such as cotton, linen, voile, shot cotton, double gauze, rayon, lightweight knits, silk, or blends. (Please buy fabric that you would feel confident sewing!) The drop hem looks best when fabric has less body and can billow somewhat as the wearer walks. Think daytime drama! Cut fabric and place pieces in labelled baggies as follows… You will need: 10 Large zippered baggies (or pieces of paper that can be pinned) to keep pieces labeled and organized.

This is the Lightest Fabric. It should be a light tonal print or plain fabric.

In this class we will spend some time discussing colour and layout options with both group and individual direction to make a 60” x 73” quilt. This is a hands-on class where students will be starting to create their quilt in the class & will finish it at home. The fabric requirements are for the completed quilt. While you don’t need to have it all on hand in the class, you should at least bring the assortments of co-ordinating prints and solids.
If you are interested in making your quilt from the fabrics shown, I will have the collection of prints
only available for purchase in the Janome booth prior to the class. With the addition of a few shades of cool grey & white solid fabrics, you will be set to go.
Fabric: 1/2 m. each of at least 8 co-ordinating prints with a range of intensities (light through dark) with at least
one contrasting colour
at least 3 solid fabrics, ranging from light to dark, that co-ordinate with your prints, totalling 3m. 1/2 m. binding fabric
