Sunday mornings - 10:30a.m., in #601 Wednesday evenings - 7p.m., in #601

College Bible Study--Our college and young adult ministry is going through a new study on the book of Hebrews titled “The Incomparable Christ." Recent high school graduates, college age students and young adults are invited to come explore Hebrews, an amazing book of the Bible that encourages us to stay strong in our commitment to Jesus amidst intense cultural pressure to

back away from our faith. This class meets every Sunday in room #601 at 10:30am.

Feedback Needed! TODAY during our Bible class, we will be having an open forum discussion with all our 7th-12th grade students about their hopes and dreams about the future of our youth ministry and our next full-time Youth Minister. Please come ready to share. We’ll be meeting in room #604 at 10:30am. The Life—Next week, our Youth Ministry will be resuming our Sunday morning Bible class titled “The Life,” which focuses on what it means to live as a disciple of Jesus in the 21st century. Small Group Kickoff—Join us for our first Youth Ministry Small Group of the semester TONIGHT (8/25) from 5-7:30pm at church in room #604. This semester, our theme will be “The Case for Christ,” a book by atheist-turned-Christian Lee Strobel. The book takes a hard look at some of the big claims the Bible makes about Jesus, and examines the evidence for Christianity both inside and outside of the Bible. To kick off that theme, we’ll be watching the movie “The Case for Christ” during tonight’s small group. Wednesday Class—Join us every Wednesday for dinner (5:30pm) and our Youth Ministry class (6:30pm), taught by Justin Chase.

Everyone is invited to a come & go wedding shower in honor of Caitlyn Marshall & Chad Alyea TODAY from 1:30-3pm in #520. Caitlyn & Chad are registered at Bed Bath & Beyond and Target.

GriefShare begins TODAY from 10:30-12:00pm in #520. Facilitated by Rod & Mary LeGrand, GriefShare is a 13-week combined class and support group for those who have lost loved ones. The meetings consist of a DVD and time of discussion, during which valuable tools and support are provided for those walking through the process of grief. Many people have found GriefShare to be a helpful way to begin putting their lives back together after the loss of a loved one. This class is open to Westside members and individuals from the community as well. For further information, call the church office (831-4460).

Women of Worship, or W.O.W, will resume Thursday, September 5. Please join us and bring your thoughts and ideas to help plan the 2019-2020 year. There will be a time for fellowship at 9:45am followed by a planning session at 10am. Hope to see you there!

DivorceCare is a 13-week seminar/support group that can help those who are divorced or separated heal from the hurt of these experiences. Facilitated by Marcy Bligh and Kevin Back, DivorceCare will be held Wednesday evenings beginning August 28 from 6-7:30pm in #520 and is open to community residents as well as Westside members. DivorceCare is a warm, caring environment that incorporates a 3-part approach to serving those who participate -- a video seminar, weekly small group discussions, and a personal study workbook. If you need further information, please speak to Marcy or Kevin, or call the church office (831-4460).

Westside 101—If you are new to Westside and would like more information about getting involved and taking your next steps, then please join us for a special “Westside 101” reception on Sunday, September 22 at 10:30am in #521. You’ll get a chance to meet our key leaders, hear about our vision for sharing the Gospel in Bakersfield, and discovering ways to connect with a loving church family. Delicious refreshments will be provided!

Wedding Shower

Back to Church Sunday—A recent survey revealed that 82% of people would go to church if someone invited them, but only 2% of churchgoers have invited anyone to church in the past year. That’s why we're

organizing a special worship service designed to welcome our friends, family and neighbors "Back to Church” on September 22. The heart behind Back to Church Sunday is to invite people into a loving and supportive faith community, no matter how long it's been since they've set foot in a church--or even if they've never been to church at all! Check out a few of the “Back to Church Sunday” videos in the church app or website and start praying about who

you'd like to invite Back to Church on September 22!
