Dear Members,
Spring is in the air and activity is a buzz at Heron Creek. Congratulations to all of our recent Tennis and Golf Club Champions! Summer is fast approaching, but let’s not slow down yet. Management has been working with the Social Committee and will be finalizing the active summer social calendar, which will be featured in the May Newsletter. Heron Creek’s next big event is Easter Brunch. Due to tremendous support, it is sold out again this year. Make plans for the Spring Member Dance, Poolside, on April 10th! Everyone loves a pool party and this one won’t disappoint as Heron Creek’s own, DJ Kevin Smith, will be the entertainment for the evening. Please read the Social Committee update in this Newsletter for more information on upcoming events.
Please contact me directly if there is anything the Club, my staff or I can do to make your experience and your use of the Club more enjoyable. [email protected]
Chris Trottier, PGA COO/ General Manager
"Our three months stay in Heron Creek is coming to an end in a couple of weeks before we head north to the ice and snow. Our experience has been just super and second to none from the moment we stepped in the front office and on the tennis courts. The team is just awesome, we were welcomed with open arms by everybody including members. The level of attention to detail, customer service and responsiveness is over and beyond. From the minute a member steps in your office Peggy can-not be any more helpful and enthusiastic. She answers three phones at a time helping all members very efficiently and profes-sionally. Richelle is just awesome, she cannot jump out of her office fast enough when she hears a member's voice and comes out to see how she can also help, that team is just great.
As for Mike Smith and the tennis staff, they are simply the best. They welcomed us from the first day, included us, introduced us to all members one by one, Mike's attention and dedication to the tennis program is over the top. We remember coming to HC many years ago and we would go to the tennis courts looking for a game and the courts would be empty with no one around and no structured play. The golf team as a whole does a great job, they have such a full schedule and are very accom-modating.
In closing, we would like to thank the entire HC creek team and members for our experience and warm hospitality. They are the reason we have chosen HC to be our winter home moving forward. You should be proud of the Heron Creek family. All the best," Melanie and Sameh Ghobrial
"Chef Butch, tonight (St. Patrick's Day) was awesome...Dinner was wonderful, (especially the Soda Bread, thanks) and this year we really enjoyed the entertainment too!" Sue and Rich
Dear Members, I want to thank those of you who have taken advantage of our Membership Referral Program. Just a reminder for every new member you refer, in advance of them joining, you receive a dues credit applied to your account. The dues credit is based on the level of Membership the members join as:
Platinum $500 dues credit
Silver $250 dues credit
Bronze $150 dues credit Once again, per the Club’s Referral Policy, you must call me before the members close so I can make sure your referral is reflected on your statement. Referrals placed after the new members join the Club are not eligible for the incentive.
Information will be coming soon about a seminar series that Heron Creek will be offering. This seminar series will feature topics such as Health, Finances and Personal Safety and Well-Being. Be sure to watch for details.

Jean Clendaniel - Nifty Niners Secretary
March has seen a lot of unique competition within the Nifty Niners. Congratulations goes to the team of Nona Mougel, Carol McDonald, Dee Bayer, and Jean Clendaniel for the winning team score of 11 in the game of TENS. Nina had a great long putt on Marsh #3 for a beautiful birdie! Great going gals.
Other exciting games and competition was the 2 day club championship held on March 17th and 18th. The ever popular 3 Queens and 1 King is scheduled for March 24th with a luncheon to follow.
Our nominating committee has been working hard behind the scenes, putting together a proposal for the new Nifty Niner Board with our soon to be president Theresa Truchot.
The Nifty Niner season ends on April 14th with a pre-paid luncheon after golf. Some of our 'snow birds' will be travelling north soon to cooler climates, (hopefully the snow and ice will be gone), so have a safe trip. You will be missed. Meanwhile, enjoy the warm sunshine and balmy breezes of sunny Florida while you can.
See you all on the greens,
As it warms up, our season is starting to wind down. The fun isn’t over yet, as was experienced at our annual Member-Guest. This year’s “Monopoly“ themed event was a big success thanks to co-chairs Marki Raposa and Terri Hartman and their crew. The practice round was followed by cocktails and appetizers along with putting, chipping, bank transactions and ladies being hauled off to jail. Banker Mike, jailbird Ron and police officer Kevin were there to keep everyone in line. The tournament had everyone pass “Go” and collect $200 only to lose it on the golf course. Mr. Monopoly himself (aka Don) was on the Oaks number 9 for a chance to win more.

March 26 following golf will be the HCLGA By-laws luncheon. This will be brief as it was determined that no changes are necessary to the by-laws this year. Lunch will be provided by the HCLGA, and a special 50-50 raffle will support the March of Dimes to support “Team Mighty Mason Hummel”!
Our Suncoast team has their last event on Thursday, April 9. As they are most certain to bring home the winning plaque, plan on meeting up at the club house that afternoon to celebrate with everyone that played in Suncoast this season.
Hard to believe, but closing day is April 16 with a “shamble”, lunch, the election of officers, awards and farewells.
Finally the “Jack and Jill” tournament will be April 22 and 23.

Hours of Operation
What a busy and successful season of events and activities! In addition to planning ahead for social activities, the committee provides feedback to management. Activities have been well attended and the Grille Room and Dining Room have been very busy. As we look ahead to substantial growth and ensuring that service is efficient we are committed to improving the experience for all Members of Heron Creek. To help improve the level and timing of service in the dining room on busy nights we encourage diners to arrive close to their reservation time, which have been scheduled to work with service timing and continue a smooth flow of ordering and serving of meals.
Large groups might want to consider scheduling their party for a night when a buffet is served, like Italian Pasta Bar, which would ensure that all tables in their group are having their meals in a timely fashion. Wines by the bottle are becoming more popular with the expertise guidance of our own Certified Sommelier, Gus Arredondo.
Social activities for April through June include the Spring Member Dance( poolside), a Sandwich night, Name that Tune and continuing with our successful Birthday Blast and Italian Pasta Bar . Courtside Café is scheduled to remain open into the month of May. This is to be contingent on the demand, as it needs to cover its daily operating costs. In June we will introduce Friday night options to include a Steak Out with a live grill station on the patio, Thanksgiving in June, and an evening of chef specials which might include Rack of Lamb, Duck or Surf and Turf.
During the summer we will offer a special Wine Dinner paired with 4 wines, an International Night with a live sushi station, poolside party and a karaoke pub night featuring a Country Western Dance theme.
Beyond the gates… we are looking ahead to planning a Wine Tour for Napa Valley in October. Gus is involved in assisting with the itinerary and making arrangements for tours of the vineyards. He will be a big help to Debi Morgan as the tour details come together. As soon as we have dates, itinerary and prices we will send an email notice.

What a strange winter! The weather has been unusual to say the least. It was not overly cold, however there were a lot of days that were below average or raining and it seems we had very few classes.
Now as Easter approaches our Snow Birds will be leaving. Although it is sad to see them leave we wish them all safe travels until we meet again next winter.
We have had some new people join us lately and that has been great. If you have been thinking about trying a class just do it! You won't be sorry. It is a fun way to get a great workout! No stress, no sweat, no experience nessesary. You do not even need to know how to swim. So come give it a try. Classes are Monday and Friday @11:00am. All are welcome!
