The obligatory Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church � Monday, May 21�

Pope Francis has decreed that the ancient devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, under the title of Mother of the Church, be inserted into the Roman Calendar.� The liturgical celebration,�B. Mariæ Virginis, Ecclesiæ Matris, will be celebrated annually as a Memorial on the day after Pentecost.� In a decree released on Saturday by the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, Cardinal Robert Sarah, its Prefect, said the Pope’s decision took account of the tradition surrounding the devotion to Mary as Mother of the Church.�The Holy Father wishes to promote this devotion in order to “encourage the growth of the maternal sense of the Church in the pastors, religious and faithful, as well as a growth of genuine Marian piety”.� Honoring Mary as Mother of the Church on the day after Pentecost also highlights for Catholics that Mary was present with the disciples on Pentecost, praying with them as the Holy Spirit descended. Cardinal Sarah said that Mary, "from the awaiting of the Spirit at Pentecost, has never ceased to take motherly care of the pilgrim church on earth."��On this Memorial Day we will have two Masses in our parish at 8am and 6:30pm. �

“There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of service but the same Lord; there are differ-ent workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone.” (1 CORINTHIANS 12:4�6) All of us are blessed, regardless of our own individual circumstances; God has given each of us many gifts. How we use those gifts is our gift back to God. For God’s plan to work, each must do what we are called to do and guess what � we are not all called to do the same thing! �

REFLACTION��

After his resurrection Jesus “breathed” on his disciples and gave them the Holy Spirit. With the gift of the Holy Spirit a new creation begins. God recreates us for his glory. Jesus’ gift of peace to his disciples was very important. His peace included the forgiveness of sins and the fullness of everything good. The Lord Jesus offers each one of us the gift and power of his Holy Spirit. He wants to make our faith strong, give us hope that endures, and a love that never grows cold. He never refuses to give his Spirit to those who ask with expectant faith. Jesus instructed his disciples to ask confidently for the gift of the Spirit: “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! The Spirit instructs us in the ways of God, and guides us in living according to God’s will. The Spirit is the source and giver of all holiness. Isaiah foretold the seven�fold gifts that the Spirit would give: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. Let us pray to the Holy Spirit to come and make our souls temples of thy Spirit. Baptize the whole Church with Your fire that the divisions soon may cease. Grant us all the fruits of thy Holy Spirit: brotherly love, joy, peace, patience, goodwill and faithfulness.� Preserve all nations and their leaders from hatred and war, and build up a true community among nations, through the power of thy Spirit. �

Papież Franciszek ustanowił nowe Święto Maryi, Matki Kościoła� I wprowadza dla kalendarza liturgicznego dla całego Kościoła Powszechnego na dzień 21 maja, �w poniedziałek po uroczystości Zesłania Ducha Świętego. To Święto zostało wprowadzone do polskiego kalendarza liturgicznego 4 maja 1971 r. przez Episkopat Polski � za zgodą Pawła VI. Dzień ten został wybrany dlatego, że Zesłanie Ducha Świętego było początkiem działalności Kościoła. Jak podają Dzieje Apostolskie, �w momencie Zesłania Ducha Świętego w Wieczerniku obecni byli wszyscy Apostołowie, którzy "trwali jednomyślnie na modlitwie razem z niewiastami, Maryją, Matką Jezusa, �i braćmi Jego" (Dz 1, 14). Matka Najświętsza, przeżyła �w Wieczerniku wraz z Apostołami zstąpienie Ducha Miłości na Kościół. Od tej chwili Maryja, Wspomożycielka Wiernych i Matka Kościoła, towarzyszy Kościołowi. Biskupi polscy złożyli Pawłowi VI z gorącą prośbe o ogłoszenie Maryi Matką Kościoła �i oddanie ponowne Jej macierzyńskiemu Sercu całej rodziny ludzkiej. Episkopat Polski włączył wówczas do Litanii Loretańskiej nowe wezwanie: "Matko Kościoła, módl się za nami". Wniósł równocześnie prośbę do Stolicy Świętej, aby wezwanie to znalazło się w Litanii odmawianej w Kościele Powszechnym, i aby papież ustanowił Święto Matki Kościoła również dla całego Kościoła Powszechnego.�Radując się z decyzji Papieża Franciszka o wprowadzeniu tego Święta dla całego Kościoła powszechnego zapraszamy naszych parafian do udzialu we Mszy świętej, aby modlić sie do Matki Kościoła o potrzebne łaski.� W naszej parafii w tym dniu będą Msze święte o godz. 8:00 i 18:30. �

REFLEKSJA�

�

W uroczystość Zesłania Ducha Świętego powróćmy myślą do 7 czerwca 1991 roku. Na zakończenie Eucharystii, sprawowanej w Płocku, św. Jan Paweł II powiedział wówczas do zgromadzonych: „Drodzy bracia i siostry, do wszystkich mówię słowa Apostoła: „Różne są dary łaski, lecz ten sam Duch; różne też są rodzaje posługiwania, ale jeden Pan; różne są wreszcie działania, lecz ten sam Bóg, sprawca wszystkiego we wszystkich”. Niech każdy odnajdzie się w tych słowach, niech każdy strzeże swojego daru, swojego charyzmatu i według niego działa w Kościele, według niego działa też dla dobra tej wielkiej wspólnoty, jaką jest nasza Ojczyzna. „Papież wezwał w ten sposób swoich rodaków do wdzięczności Bogu oraz otwarcia na Ducha Świętego. �I pokazał, że nie jesteśmy samowystarczalni. Potrzebujemy mocy z wysoka, aby blask zmartwychwstałego Pana mógł przedrzeć się przez ciemności naszej duszy. Św. Paweł w Liście do Rzymian pisze, że obdarzeni życiem nadprzyrodzonym będą nie ci, którzy żyją zgodnie z duchem czasów, ale ci, którzy żyją według Ducha: „Ci bowiem, którzy żyją według ciała, dążą do tego, czego chce ciało; ci zaś, którzy żyją według Ducha � do tego, czego chce Duch. Dążność bowiem ciała prowadzi do śmierci, dążność zaś Ducha � do życia i pokoju”. Wiara, jak i życie ludzkie w ogóle, potrzebuje wspólnoty. Wspólnotą, którą kieruje w niewidzialny sposób Duch Święty, i którą obdarza On swoimi darami, jest Kościół. Chrześcijanin to człowiek, który żyje we wspólnocie Kościoła i pozwala się prowadzić Duchowi Świętemu. Głos tego Nauczyciela dociera do niego z głębi sumienia i nauczania Kościoła. Pomaga też iść za wolą Bożą, gdy trzeba dokonać wyboru. Bóg „nie ze względu na sprawiedliwe uczynki, jakie spełniliśmy, lecz z miłosierdzia swego zbawił nas przez obmycie odradzające i odnawiające w Duchu Świętym, którego wylał na nas obficie przez Jezusa Chrystusa, Zbawiciela naszego, abyśmy, usprawiedliwieni Jego łaską, stali się w nadziei dziedzicami życia wiecznego”. �
