Jungle Party’s “Fund-Our-Future” raises critical future funds for Woodland Park Zoo programs that inspire more than one million visitors each year to take action in protecting animals and their habitat. Your generous donation will help us ignite in young people a spark of interest in hands-on science learning and cultivate the leadership qualities our children need to become our planet’s future conservation stewards. By introducing children to nature at a young age, and continuing their science education in their formative years through the zoo’s conservation and animals programs, we help create leaders of the future who will continue the legacy of Woodland Park Zoo.
In the meantime, our zoo is helping lead the way by encouraging our guests to take conservation action. In 2012 we unveiled our newest field conservation project, working in Malaysia with the local population to save the critically endangered tiger. While some of this work is taking place on the other side of the world, we show our guests at the zoo how small things like drinking shade grown coffee or passing up food items made with palm oil can make a global impact and help save tigers in the wild.
Leaders by example, our animal care experts apply their science-learning backgrounds each day. Members of the zoo’s animal management and veterinary care staff each have an important role to fulfill in ensuring the health and happiness of our animals. This is evidenced by our recent baby boom, including sloth bear cubs born in December 2012. With a great mom and the zoo’s top- notch keepers and veterinary staff, these baby bears will someday be leaders themselves!
