Thank YouWe thank the CLCs for their donation of $500 to our Capital

Campaign and $400 donation to our second annual vacation bible school this summer. As always, we are extremely grateful to all the CLCs for the generous donations to our parish and their example of service to others. The CLC members are a great blessing to all of us! If any young woman from the ages of 18 to 110 want to become a member, please see any CLC member or speak with Tess Rahrig.

Honoring “OUR” Adult SeniorsWe would like to invite all our seniors to a special luncheon on June 15th at 12:00 at the Depot. This is a great time for us to gather, enjoy each others company and to thank you for your presence in our lives. Anyone 65 and older that has any ties to Landeck is welcome to attend. We will be happy to supply car rides for anyone in need. For more information please call the parish house 419-692-0636 or Dave and Shelly Kroeger 419-233-7316.

Vacation Bible School MeetingLast year we began our annual vacation bible school. For all those involved it was a great event. This gives us an opportunity to gather our young parishioners and teach about the great love of God for each of them. If anyone would like to be part of the planning for this summers vacation bible school, there will be a meeting in the parish house on Wednesday, May 23rd at 7:30 p.m. All adults and teenagers are welcome to attend this meeting. We are hoping that our teenagers take the lead in this project as they did last year. \

Servers for Cemetery MassIf anyone would like to distribute Communion, altar serve or lector for our cemetery Mass on Memorial Day, May 28th, please see Sister!

Cemetery MassOn May 28th, Memorial Day, we will have a special Mass on our cemetery grounds. It gives us a special opportunity to pray for all those buried in our cemetery and ask them to pray for us, as we all journey to heaven. Mass will be at 9:00 a.m. instead of 7:00 p.m. We ask if people could please bring their own lawn chairs or blankets for your children. If it rains, Mass will still be at 9:00 a.m., but in our Church instead of outside. We will also have a special collection at this Mass for the upkeep of our cemetery. We will have coffee, juice and donuts after Mass. Our cemetery is truly “Holy Ground” for all of us!

Spring Clean-UpOn Saturday, May 26th, we will have a spring clean-up day. We will be raking, spraying for weeds, edging, trimming bushes and much more. If anyone has some time, please feel

free to come and help. We will begin with donuts, juice and coffee at 9:00 a.m. and then begin to work. Please bring gloves, rakes, or any garden tools that you think is needed. Lunch will be provided.

Gratitude for our Sunday TeachersThis week is the last of our weekly religion classes so it gives us the opportunity to thank all our religion teachers. We are deeply thankful for the great work done by Dave and Shelly Kroeger, Dorothy Trentman, Rosemary Youngpeter, Sister Mary Margaret, Heather Bonifas, Chris Grothaus, Terry Knebel, Kathy Rostorfer, Matt Etzkorn and Martha Miller. It is a great honor to pass on the faith in the hearts and minds of the next generation. Saint John the Baptist parish is blessed with many wonderful religion teachers. As we all know, our kids learn more from actions than with words, so I am grateful for the religion teachers’ faithfulness in attending Mass every Sunday and being a central part of keeping Saint John the Baptist alive and well.

We also want to thank Louise Haunhorst, Brenda Gallmeier, Jamie Rahrig, Martha Miller and Mary Jane Youngpeter for all their work, patience and commitment to our children and junior high choirs. There is nothing better than hearing the voices of our young people praising God for His great goodness and love for each of us. Thank you to all!!!

Choir Break Over the next few months, our choirs will be taking a break from their “work of love.” We want to take this time to thank all of our wonderful choir members, both children and adults for giving countless hours of time to practice and lift our spirits to God. We thank everyone involved in the ministry of music for our parish. We congratulate Rob Carpenter for his ministry as choir director. As St. Augustine wrote, “Singing is praying twice.”
