The 5th International Conference on “Recent Advances in Material Chemistry (ICRAMC 2021)” was organized by
Department of Chemistry during 18-20, February 2021 through virtual mode. ICRAMC 2021 was sponsored by
CSIR, Govt. of India. It comprises of 14 invited talks from International Experts in the diverse field of material
chemistry and 300 oral presentations were conducted through parallel zoom online sessions. The conference was
formally inaugurated on 18th February at 9.30 AM. Dr. M. Arthanareeswari, Convenor, ICRAMC 2021 welcomed the
delegates the and presidential address was given by Prof. T. V.Gopal, Dean CET, SRMIST. Prof. S.
Chandrasekhar, Director, IICT Hyderabad and Director NCL Pune, delivered his inaugural address. Dr. Gopal
Chandru Senadi, Coordinator ICRAMC 2021 proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. P. Gopinath, Coordinator ICRAMC

Invited Talk 1 - Speaker: Prof. Wei-Yu Lin, Ph.D. (18-02-2021, 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM)
Title: “A continuous flow system approach for the synthesis of heterocyclic and internal alkynes”
Prof. Wei-Yu Lin is currently Head, Division of Safety and Health, Office of Safety, Health and Environment, in the
Department of Medicinal and Applied Chemistry, at Kaohsiung Medical University, Taiwan. During his talk, he
shared the role and importance of flow chemistry in developing synthetic methodologies for the quicker and efficient
synthesis of heterocycles
Invited Talk 2 – Speaker: Prof. Li-Fang Wang (18-02-2021, 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM)
Title: External-Responsive Amphiphilic Copolymers for Smart Drug Delivery Systems
Prof. Li-Fang Wang is currently working as Dean for the College of life science, Kaohsiung Medical University,
Taiwan. In her talk she extensively discussed the role of Amphilic copolymers with potential application in drug
delivery systems.

Invited Talk 3– Speaker: Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Todd B. Marder, (18-02-2021, 02:00 PM – 03:00 PM)
Title: Coordinate Organoboron Compounds Light the Way: Synthesis, Optical Properties and Cell
Imaging
Prof. Todd Marder is Chair of Inorganic Chemistry, Institute of Inorganic Chemistry and Institute for Sustainable
Chemistry & Catalysis with Boron, Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg, Germany. He is a senior professor
with vast knowledge in the field of Inorganic Chemistry. During his talk, he has started with basic principles and
elaborated on the preparation of coordinated organoboron compounds and its application in imaging field.
Invited Talk 4– Speaker: Prof. Dr. Sabine Devautour-Vinot (18-02-2021, 03:00 PM – 04:00 PM)
Title: Discovery of highly proton conductive MOFs from an experimental/modelling screening strategy
Prof. Sabine from Institute Charles Gerhardt Montpellier, France discussed about water mediated proton transfer
mechanism in porous solids and emphasized that the membrane processing is still a key issue.

Invited Talk 5– Speaker: Prof. Raji Sundararajan PhD (18-02-2021, 07:00 PM – 08:00 PM)
Title: Analysis of Heat Shock Proteins in Proteomics Studies of MDA-MB-231, Triple Negative Human
cancer cells, treated with Electrical pulses + Cisplatin
She is currently a full professor in School of Engineering Technology, Purdue University, IN, USA. During her
discussion with the participants, she shared exciting ongoing research in identifying heat shock proteins as possible
therapeutic targets when cisplatin was treated along with electrical pulses.
Invited Talk 6 - Speaker: Prof. Tsuyoshi Minami (19-02-2021, 09:00 AM – 10:00 AM)
Title: Self-Assembled Chemosensor Arrays
Prof. Minami is currently working in the Department of Materials and Environmental Science, Institute of Industrial
Science, University of Tokyo, Japan. During his talk he discussed about various chemosensor probes rationally
designed and systematically explored for various applications including real sample analysis and detection of various
analytes.

Invited Talk 7- Speaker: Prof. Chang Woo LEE (19-02-2021, 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM)
Title: Anodes Based on Layered Metal Chalcogenides for Sodium-ion Batteries.
Prof. Chang Woo LEE holds the Director position in the Center for the SMART Energy Platform (CSTEP) &
Electrochemical Energy Storage & Conversion Laboratory (EESC), Kyung Hee University, South Korea. A pioneer
in the field, Prof LEE disclosed various aspects of sodium ion batteries which could play important role in the energy
sector.
Invited Talk 8- Speaker: Dr. Xavier Bugaut (19-02-2021, 02:00 PM – 03:00 PM)
Title: Synthesis of enantioenriched atropisomers by central-to-axial conversion of chirality
Dr. Xavier Bugaut currently working as Maître de Conférences (equivalent to Assistant Professor) in the University
of Aix-Marseille, France. His research work is centred on the chemical manipulation of dicarbonyl compounds to
synthesis of structurally complex and highly organic molecules. During his presentation, he comprehensively
described various approaches to access enantioenriched atropisomers.

Invited Talk 9- Speaker: Prof Guillaume Maurin (19-02-2021, 03:00 PM – 04:00 PM)
Title: Computationally-Assisted Advances in Advanced MOF Adsorbents and Mixed Matrix Membranes
for Gas Separation
Prof. Guillaume Maurin is from Institute Charles Gerhardt, Université Montpellier, France, He is one of the
leading scientist in the field of Metal Organic framework. During his presentation, he disclosed latest research
findings from his group.
Invited Talk 10- Speaker: Prof. Allen L. Garner (19-02-2021, 07:30 PM – 08:30 PM)
Title: Biological Manipulation with Electromagnetic Radiation
Prof. Allen L. Garner is an undergraduate Program Chair, School of Nuclear Engineering, Purdue University, IN,
USA. His research interests includes exploring the application of electromagnetic radiation for biological
manipulation including cancer treatment. He shared their latest findings in this field during his talk.

Invited Talk 11- Speaker: Prof Jean-François Halet (20-02-2021, 09:00 AM – 10:00 AM)
Title: On the search of novel compounds featuring thermoelectric properties. some suggestions based
on theoretical considerations
Prof Jean-François Halet is group leader for the Laboratory for Innovative Key Materials and Structures (LINK)
In National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS), Japan. He shared their exciting finding in the field of gallium
based materials.
Invited Talk 12- Speaker: Prof. Sylvain Franger (20-02-2021, 01:00 PM – 02:00 PM)
Title: All solid state microbatteries as efficient energy storage systems for microelectronics
Prof. Sylvain Franger is currently working in Institute for Materials and Molecular Chemistry, University Paris
Sud / Univ. Paris-Saclay, France. His research interests are developing materials for the energy applications.
In his talk he discussed about microbatteries as efficient energy storage device.

Invited Talk 13 – Speaker: Prof. Majdi Hochlaf, HDR (20-02-2021, 09:30 PM – 10:30 AM)
Title: Theoretical investigations of the activation of CO2 in gas phase and at solid-liquid interfaces
Prof. Majdi Hochlaf, HDR is from University of Gustave Eiffel, France. Being a theoretical chemist, his
research group is actively involved in the activation of CO2. He concluded his talk with general remarks
on the importance of long range interactions, charge transfer through strong and weak bonds and the
influence on CO2 capture and sequestration.
Invited Talk 14 – Speaker: Dr. Pascale Chenevier (20-02-2021, 03:00 PM – 04:00 PM)
Title: High energy density lithium-battery anode materials based on graphite-silicon nanowire
Composites
Dr. Pascale Chenevier is a Senior Scientist, in the Lab. of Molecular Electronics at SPEC, Saclay
Institute of Matter and Radiation, France. As expert from industry covering her research in developing
silicon based anode material. Some of her concluding remarks are 1. Silicon is a promising anode material
with high capacity, 2. Nanosize is a prerequisite for the tradeoff between stability and capacity loss and 3.
composite of gaphite and Silicon allow tuning capacity with reducing loss due to swelling

Validectory Session:
The validectory session of ICRAMC 2021 was held on 20.2.2021 at 4.00pm. A concluding report summarizing all
the activities in ICRAMC 2021 was presented by Dr. J. Arockia Selvi, coordinator, ICRAMC 2021. International
speakers including Prof. Majdi Hochlaf, (U.Gustave Eiffel, France), Prof. Jean- Francois Halet (NIMS Japan) gave
their motivating and enthusiastic feedback about ICRAMC 2021. Several participants were expressed their positive
feedbacks actively.
Six panel of judges (Dr.Prasant Kumar Nayak, Dr. E.Varathan, Dr. Ashok Kumar, Dr. Shanmugan, Dr.
Srinivasarao Kancharla, Dr. Susnata Pramanik, Dr. Senthil Andavan , Dr. Samarendra Maji, Dr.B. Baskar ,
Dr Palash Sanphui , Dr. Venkatramaiah , Dr. Ganesh Pandian, Dr. Manab Kundu & Dr.G.Maduraiveeran,
Dr. Prakash, Dr. Anjan Bedi) were constantly conducting and evaluating upto seven parallel oral presentations in
addition to the 14 invited talks from international experts. The full papers presented in the conference ICRAMC 2021
will be processed for possible publication in Material Today: Proceedings Jounral (Elsevier, Scopes Index). Diverse
research problems were discussed and the platform enabled an active interaction between researchers and faculty
members. Based on several key parameters, a panel of judges recommended ten best oral presentation awards. Our
respected Chair, SAS- SRMIST, Prof. D. John Thiruvadigal Sir, and Dy. Dean (Research), Prof. Neppolian,
felicitated the award winners by announcing their names in the valedictory function.
