MDS EDUCATION ROAD MAP: YOUR GUIDE TO MDS EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES MDS is dedicated to improving the way visitors use the website when searching educational content. The
Roadmap to Educational Resources is intended to help navigate the many available educational resources
on the MDS website. These resources include videos, Movement Disorders Journal papers and articles,
Movement Disorders Clinical Practice content, MDS rating scales, CME activities, webcasts, and much
more.
Navigate educational content according to three levels of Movement Disorders experience: beginners,
intermediate and advance. The beginner content is geared towards students, residents, primary care
providers, internists, allied health, non-neurology specialists, and industry who have limited to no
movement disorders experience. Intermediate content is geared towards Neurology residents, movement
disorder fellows, neurologists; advanced practitioners, allied health, and industry with some movement
disorders experience and advance content is for Movement disorders specialists and fellows; neurologists
and other practitioners who have extensive movement disorders experience. Visit the MDS-Education-

MDS YOUNG MEMBERS GROUP The mission of the MDS Young Members Group is to support and expand the network of outstanding
young neurologists, basic scientists and other allied health care providers who have an interest in the field
of Movement Disorders. The focus will be on advancing collaborations amongst young members and
focus on educational activities and training. All members of the MDS who are under age 40 may join the
MDS Young Members Group.

COURSE DESCRIPTION Led by internationally recognized movement disorder experts, the fifth annual International Parkinson
and Movement Disorder Society's Pan American Section (MDS-PAS) Movement Disorders School for
Neurology Residents offers broad education on movement disorders, the latest research, and potential
career paths in the field.
Course topics include Parkinson's disease, Function and Structure of Basal Ganglia, Motor features in
early and advanced Parkinson’s disease, Non-motor features in Parkinson’s disease, Botulinum toxin:
Science and practical application, Deep brain stimulation: Science and practical application, health care
disparities and more.
The virtual program will feature an “ask the experts” session about on-demand lectures, case-based
lectures with questions and answers, patient clinical rounds, a panel discussion about a career in
movement disorders, and a participant video case competition.
COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
Examine a patient with a movement disorder
Reach a diagnosis on straightforward movement disorders cases
Propose a differential diagnosis on more complex movement disorders patients
Present a movement disorders case history
Design, review and modify a patient treatment plan

EDUCATION CREDIT STATEMENT This course does not provide continuing medical education credits.
