RE: Tattoo and Body Art Studio

We are asking for a Special Use Permit to open a custom tattoo and body piercing studio at the
above mentioned address. I have permission and support from the landlord and neighboring businesses,
and have signed a 5 year lease agreement.
My husband's story is one of real American dreams. He comes from Havana, Cuba, where dreams don't
mean anything. From a young age, he knew that tattoo art was his passion, and would do anything to
pursue it. Tattooing in Cuba, at that time, was highly illegal, so he knew he would have to leave in order
to follow his dream. In 2006, he left behind his entire family and came over without knowing any English
or having a dollar to his name. Over the first two years in America, the road was tough for him. He lived
in his car and bathed in gas station bathrooms. With hard work and a singular focus, he learned English,
became a legal permanent resident and began his journey to a career as a tattoo artist, here in the US.
He's never accepted any government help and has built his business and reputation completely on his
terms.
Now, just ten years later, my husband's artwork brings high paying clients from, not only from Georgia,
but all over the US, Canada, England, Australia and Germany, just to name a few. He has been tattooing

over 20 years and has won over 60 awards for his work. His artwork has been published in magazines
and can be found on, internationally recognized, industry YouTube channels and social media pages with
hundreds of thousands of followers. He is sponsored by 4 industry leading companies, which fly him all
over the country to represent them at various conventions and gatherings.
We will be located next to a high end pawn shop and car dealership, that will both benefit from the type
of clientele we attract, and vice versa. We will operate during normal business hours, mostly by
appointment, from lOam until 8pm. We will not tolerate misconduct, either inside the studio or on the
premises at any time. 24 hour video surveillance will be in place with appropriate signage posted. All
artists will be licensed through the Gwinnett County Board of Health, and our studio will adhere to the
guidelines and regulations set forth by the county.
We are aware that the board has recently approved, Valley Boyz Ink, LLC, in the Stonebridge Shopping
Center. We feel that we will be an asset to the community and surrounding businesses, and hope to be
granted this Special Use Permit, so we may proceed with obtaining building permits and health and fire
inspections. The tattoo industry, nationally, is a growing 2 billion dollar a year business, with
international numbers exceeding that. We look forward to joining the many great businesses in
Gwinnett County, and changing the misconceptions about body art collectors and enthusiasts.
