Radiant Air Conditioning Systems: Sustainable Energy Efficiency

(USGBC GBC/CMP, AIA SD/HSW, CSI, AIBD, BOMI, FBPE, NARI, NKBA)

Presented by: Termobuild

Provides an overview of how sustainable radiant air conditioning technology leverages the

scientific principle of thermal mass through the integrated use of hollow core slabs, night

pre-cooling, and “smart floors.” As well, the course addresses how radiant air conditioning systems

can be utilized to help reduce/eliminate the need for heating and cooling energy from

non-renewable sources and compares this technology with conventional systems.

Small Wind Turbines: A renewable Energy Solution for On-site Generation

(USGBC GBCI/CMP and AIA SD/HSW)

Presented by: Urwind

This course provides an overview of small on-grid connected wind turbines. The goal of this

presentation is to educate design professionals, and anyone interested in on-site renewable

energy, on the basics of evaluating different turbine models and integrating them into projects.

On-site renewable energy is one of the best ways to create a net zero energy, sustainable project

and this course will guide you through this design and implementation process.

BREAK

Daylight and Energy: Designing with insulating Glass unit with integrated cord-free louvers

(USGBC GBCI/CMP and AIA SD/HSW)

Presented by: Unicel

In this session, you will learn: the benefits of designing with daylight, several strategies for daylight

optimization, what IGUs with integrated cord-free louvers are, discover several ways IGUs with

integrated cord-free louvers improve energy efficiency and control heat gain, go over several

application examples and explain the sustainable design features of each, learn about the

operating options for IGUs with integrated cord-free louvers and the sustainable design benefits of

incorporating IGUs with integrated cord-free louvers into your project

LUNCH

Specifying wood doors: Attributes and sustainability issues Break

(AIA SD/HSW, CSI, AIBD, BOMI, IDCEC, NARI, NKBA, NAHB)

Presented by: Lambton Doors

Provides a comprehensive overview of wood doors and includes discussions on materials, faces,

fire doors, specialty doors, and specifying the appropriate door to meet current green building

standards.

BREAK

Hardware is NOT that hard

(AIA HSW)

Presented by: Summum Woodwork

This lesson will help you increase knowledge and comfort in picking the type and number of

cabinet hinges and the best drawer system, narrow the hardware choices and make selections

relevant to the project needs, recognize the importance of comparing BHMA and the Architectural

Woodwork Standards requirements for hardware and reduce the design and development timeline

for woodwork elements, resulting in more effective billable hours in the office.
