Illustrations of God's Workird grader Jackson Shelnutt draws my sermons. As Ipreached on Mother’s Day, he made this drawing.I tell him that he makes my sermons better than theyactually are. Jackson was baptized during our Sanctuaryservice on May 27. On June 3, a young woman, graduatefrom Stanford & UT Law School, will also be baptized.Joining them, this summer we will also be baptizing ahigh school senior, and a courageous woman from AlphaHome. As well as…God is drawing many people, of allages, unto Him through Trinity’s ministries.

Your contributions enable this to happen. On their behalf and hundreds of others touched by our 100+ ministries, I thank you.

is summer is lled with gospel work. Our children, youth, and adults will have special summer experiences. We have mission teams going to the Border, to Haiti, andin areas of San Antonio. Pre-Teen Camp. VBS. Art Camp.Music Camp. Wednesday Noon Bible Studies @ TriPoint.Young Adult Small Groups. Summer Camp for GrownUps. Youth trip to Glorieta plus Leadership Lab.

On June 24, we will celebrate TBC’s 69th Birthday. And on that day everyone is encouraged to make a special birthday gi. By meeting our goal of $180,000 we will be able to wrap up the cost of several past projects and ease our summer cash ow challenge.

Like Jackson’s art work, you and your ministry illustrates a people who are on God’s sacred mission of helping seekers to become believers and believers to become disciples.

Some Books I Am Reading this Summer:

Miracles are God’s work in supra-natural* ways. A sign of God’s authority as Creator of Heaven & Earth, and the giver of salvation. e Bible is full of miraculous stories revealing God’s capacity to reveal His intended best in our sin-sick world. e ultimate miracle is Christ, who performed miracles as a sign & wonder of His authority.

e Gospels include many of Jesus’ miracles. Each story includes a miracle event but more than that, each story reveals how what was going on then is going on now. By “listening in” to each story, we realize that the main event wasn’t the wow factor of how did that happen? But the truth factor that God’s love possesses the power to set us free from the shackles this world will put on us.

is summer we will focus each Sunday on one miracle, and from that story see the bigger promise God is wanting us to claim. Helped by the insightful questions suggested by Cayce Harris, we will listen in for the answers to:

Who needs healing? Where are they from? What’s their background? What is their need/s? How was the need made known? Who made it known? How did the miracle happen? What was said? Done? By whom? What happened? Was the person healed? How did the person respond? How did the

people around respond? How was faith expressed? Not expressed? What is the Holy Spirit highlighting to you?

Jesus-truth jumps o each Gospel page to show us His answers to these questions. By applying them, we position ourselves to have the same power working its truth into our lives... Unto you O’Lord we open ourselves for your freeing work.

Great Books Discussionsfor SA at TriPoint

e third of four Great Books Discussions on the Gospels will be ursday, June 28 and will focus on the gospel of Luke. is discussion is for believers and for those with questions about the Christian faith. It will be co-led by Pastor Les and a friend of Trinity Baptist Church, Paul Martin.

is is a great opportunity to invite your curious friends who want to talk through their questions about Jesus.

Thursday, June 28: Luke

* Supra-natural is when God accomplishes His intended will by working through nature and beyond nature.

June Sermon Schedule:

All good things come from God and He has entrusted us to be His stewards. For most of us, how we plan our estates will probably be the most important nancial decision we will ever make. It is our privilege and responsibility to develop a plan so that the gis God has entrusted to us will be used beyond our lifetimes.

Many people think that the only way to support Trinity Baptist Church is through their tithes and special oerings. Individuals feel unable to make a substantialgi because of the need for income or nancialsecurity. However, there are many ways of makingcharitable gis while retaining benets for you andyour family.

A contribution included as part of your estate and nancial planning can be a wonderful way to provide lasting support for Trinity Baptist Church well into the future. is type of gi oers an excellent way for you to demonstrate your commitment and devotion to the ministries of Trinity and to ensure that these precious ministries continue to thrive.

ere are several ways to establish a planned gi, such as:

Gis by WillLife Insurance

Remainder Interest GisCharitable Remainder Trusts

Qualied Charitable Gi AnnuityQualied Charitable Distribution (QCD) and

Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) for IRAs(More information may be provided for QCDs)

HighGround Advisors (formally Baptist Foundation of Texas) has been a nancial partner with our church for many years. When you are ready to make your “Legacy of Faith”, they can assist you with your participation and support of Trinity Baptist Church through your planned giving. Please call Marion Armstrong with HighGround Advisors for assistance. As always, Mark Barr, the Church Administrator and Robert Stein, the Finance Director are also able to answer your questions.

Who has a birthday this month??How will YOU celebrate??

Party? Cake? Gifts?

YOUR church, Trinity Baptist, will be celebrating her 69th birthday on June 24th.

ere will be a party aer both worship services on that day.ere will be ice cream and cake at both parties.

ere will be gis given throughout the month of June.

Plan now for what gi YOU want to give YOUR church in June. Just like we all gather and give gis as families when a relative is celebrating a birthday,

let US, as members of the Lord’s Family here at TBC, gather and give gis of love and appreciation to her!

Special Birthday envelopes in Sunday Schools, the Fanning Foyer and at Crossings will be available for you and your family to give birthday gi$ to your church.

We already know of a $20,000 Foundational Gi that will be given by a family here at Trinity.

What a perfect time to celebrate Trinity and all that she means to us.What a perfect time to give a birthday gi oering,

over and above our regular tithe, to help close the gap and nish strong

another great year of God’s Work here in this place.

“Happy Birthday to you!A Caring Family so true!

For the Lord’s Work at Trinity,A Celebration is due!!”

Come to the Party!Join in the Celebration of Love!

Amen! Rejoice!

Shifting the ConversationIn designing the 2017-2018 Music and Worship Arts Ministry Plan, I decided that one of the most important goals for this year would be to foster Worship Discussions and Dialogues. ese would take place in a host of venues and would ideally include members from every generation on each of our campuses. Here’s what I wrote in the ministry plan you received:

One of the goals for 2017-2018 will be to shi the conversation around corporate worship from divisive issues like musical style, that seem to dominate our discussion around worship, to a celebration of that which we do share in common. Issues such as the use of Scripture, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, participation, hospitality, and creativity will be discussed in a variety of venues and will be lived out in our combined and separate worship services on both the Mulberry and TriPoint campuses.

While this paragraph might seem ambitious, I believe that it is necessary as we move forward as a healthy and unied church. e Music and Worship Arts Team has been discussing these issues in our monthly meetings and this summer we will extend this conversation to the church at large through a Summer Small Group.

5

Beginning on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 4:30-6:00 pm, I will be leading a weekly small group that will look at congregational singing in all of its power and variety. We will examine the biblical foundation for singing in both private devotion and corporate worship, discuss historical and modern examples, and of course, sing together! is will be an interactive small group and there will be plenty of time to share about how singing has formed and shaped our own personal faith. e framework for this study will be the book Sing! How Worship Transforms Your Life, Family, and Church by the songwriters Keith and Kristyn Getty.

I hope that you will join me for this formational and engaging discussion!

In order from le to right: Palm Sunday, Maundy ursday and Good Friday worship services.

I cannot believe it is the end of the year! We will be having a break from PDO for the summer but we have summer camps we can go to until we return in the fall. Between our Fall Fun Day, Pajama Day, Christmas pageant, Fiesta parade and plenty of playground and class time, what a wonderful time we have had at Parents Day Out this year! We are registering for fall and our classes are already 2/3’s full. We are so excited. Many of our PDO families have made Trinity their home church and have enjoyed the various events we have had throughout the year from our children’s department. We are growing and we give all the glory of our program to our Lord.

Please continue to pray for our growth, our ability to ministry to our community, the support of our Children’s department and its leadership through Ms. Debbie, the partnership with Trinity Baptist Church and most importantly our service to God.

Have a safe and blessed summer!

Summer is rapidly approaching, and I am excited for what God is going to do this summer in the lives of our students. We have several opportunities for our students to grow in their walks with the

Lord and with one another, and honestly to have some great fun. Don’t forget about these events:

Out All NightDates: June 1-2 | Cost: TBD

Out All Night is our end of school bash. We will meet at the Mulberry campus at 7 pm. We will spend some time at Main Event and few other places around our city and will be back at the church at around 6 am.

is is going to be an awesome time to celebrate thebeginning of summer together with our students.

Building on the BorderDates: August 5-9 | Cost: $60

Location: Del Rio

e Del Rio trip is an opportunity for our students toput the things that they will learn this summer into

action. is trip is a way for our students to get theirhands dirty in ministry by meeting physical needs

through building projects and serving those in need and to be able to meet spiritual need by sharing the

gospel. is is going to be a great trip!

Student Life CampDates: July 5-10 | Cost: $300

Location: Glorieta, New Mexico

is a camp experience for all of our students.Student Life Camp will allow us to escape the

summer heat, help us grow in our walk with the Lord, and also provide an opportunity for our students to

grow together in their relationships with one another.

Super SummerDates: June 18-22 | Cost: $300

Location: Dallas Baptist Universityis is a camp for our students who are more mature in

their faith. During the week, students will becomebetter equipped to share their faith with those that they

encounter everyday with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

All people of faith struggle at times to sustain a ourishing prayer life-a loss felt all the more keenly in times like ours of confusion, political turbulence, and global calamity. e Prayer Wheel is a modern interpretation of a beautiful, almost wholly forgotten, scripture-based mode of prayer that was developed in a medieval time. It faithfully and beautifully presents seven prayer paths for personal or group use. Each path invites contemplation on the "big ideas" of the Christian faith-the Lord's Prayer, the Beatitudes, the gis of the Holy Spirit, and key words from the life of Christ. Higher Education GraduationGraduation is a major accomplishment made possible by the investment of time, energy, hard work, dedication, and prayer. It is strengthened by the support of family, friends, educators, church community, and mentors along the way. Trinity Baptist honors our higher education graduates (associates, bachelors, masters, doctorates) on stepping forward boldly to seize their degree!

May Creator God cultivate your being to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.May God’s indwelling Redemption make all of your life an opportunity for sacred learning, work, and joy.May the ame of God’s Presence illuminate your journey toward career, relationships, and Life-giving service.May God shepherd you, as the next chapters of life unfold, along the winding Way of doing justice, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God.

Trinity Baptist Church is partnering with multiple church and parachurch college ministries for a combined summer ministry events called e College Collective. Any one college or career aged (roughly 18-24) is encouraged to attend. Jacob Sensenig will be leading worship two of the weeks. Sarah Sensenig will be preaching one of the ursday nights!

How could I not feel loved while seeing friendships grow naturally as I participate in the wide variety of activities at Trinity Baptist Church?

From the rst meeting with Phyllis and Randy Patterson in the TBC-4U introductory class, they

sensed the type of Bible study class I needed and steered me to the LAMPS class taught by Dianna Crocker. is class has been a blessing.

Tuesday Games provided another opportunity to get involved. Food, games and new friends have been great for me in a new, mega city! e trips to Schulenburg and Big Bend expanded my circle of friends greatly.

Visiting sights around San Antonio with both the Tuesday group and LAMPS class helped me learn my way around. ose trips have greatly reduced my dependence on GPS.

TBC has so many opportunities for spiritual growth. Pastor Les' sermons always have a motivating punch that hits home. e various small groups and Bible studies are geared for every age.

I was blessed with an opportunity to be involved in a ministry when Frances Jones, Chair of the CARE Team assigned me 3 special Trinity members that can no longer attend church. I have learned a lot from their stories about the history of Trinity, and how the church has impacted their lives. I have gained so much in getting to know these special members.

Being a part of the Trinity Writers small group has also enriched me greatly. Teacher and coach Je Cowart is an encourager and meets each of us at the appropriate level. e class has been a challenge and I look forward to the next session.

Whew! What a dierence a year makes! I thank God every day for leading me to Trinity Baptist Church in San Antonio.

In Christ,Evelyn Cossey

e following letter was recently written by Evelyn Cossey as she reected on her 1-year anniversary as a memberof the church. As you can “hear” in her letter, membership in a church means claiming the opportunities to buildChristian friendships, to grow spiritually through Bible study and small groups, and to nd ways to serve others.Choosing to follow Christ includes nding a faith community where we can make that commitment and be heldaccountable and grow and nd joy as part of a faith family. In some cases it means having help as we raise a familyin the Christian faith.

ere are many people at Trinity that do their best to help new members get connected in relationships and serviceand I am grateful to each one of them. It is my prayer and our prayer that everyone that chooses to join TrinityBaptist Church nds the relationships and opportunities to growand places of service that are deeply fullling. May all newmembers so joyfully celebrate their 1-year anniversary.ank you Evelyn for sharing your experience!

In His Love,Vicki

As the Deacons meet on June 18, may all that is shared and discussed glorify God as they continue to “serve others, faithful stewards of God’s grace in all its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10

As we celebrate Trinity’s 69th Birthday on June 24, may our prayers include the words of a stanza from an old hymn, O ou Whose Hand Hath Brought Us: “For this thy house we praise thee, reared at ine own command. For every generous spirit, and every willing hand; And now within y temple, y glory let us see, For all its strength and beauty are nothing without ee.”

Wednesday Noon Bible Study @ TriPointJoin Pastor Les in Bible Study this June & July at TriPoint, from noon to 1:00 pm.

Empowerment of the Holy Spirit: Who and what is the Holy Spirit? God, who is one, is so magnicent that one name can’t fully describe Him. As our Creator we call God our Father. As our Redeemer we call God the Christ. And we call God’s abiding presence the Holy Spirit. But this is the dimension of God we least understand. So this summer we will lean into the Holy Spirit and discover more fully the promising power of His presence as Comforter, Counselor, Empowerment.

Deacons are servants of the Lord to the congregation and the community. A Deacon should exemplify the Christian ideal, sharing the Gospel with believers and non-believers, and should strive to consistently apply the principles and guidelines for Deacons as set forth in the New Testament (1 Timothy 3).

Deacons are ordained to serve as spiritual leaders of the Church. With the Senior Pastor and other ministers, they have a particular responsibility for the life of the Church—to safeguard its good name, care for its fellowship, promote its unity and welfare and to actively support the critical Church initiatives identied in the Ministry Plan for each Church year. Deacons are not to act in the place of the Church, but, rather, they encourage Church members and assist in the work of the Church, referring their recommendations or concerns to the Senior Pastor, Church Trustees and/or the membership.

Please do your part by submitting nominations of TBC members (men and women) who are qualied to serve. Nomination Forms are in the Mulberry and TriPoint campuses and online. e Deacon Nomination Committee members, elected by the church, are: Dave Ballard, Joe Brake, Bettie Green, Jack Jones & Karion Krieger.

e nomination deadline is July 15th.To nominate someone online go to www.trinitybaptist.org/dnc.
