Disposing of packagingThe packaging materials are environ-mentally compatible and can be re-cycled.● Sort the individual components by

type and dispose of them separately.Information about current disposalmethods is available from IKEA oryour local authority.

Saving energyIf you follow these instructions, your ap-pliance will use less electricity and less water.

AquaSensorThe AquaSensor is an optical measuringdevice (light barrier) which measuresthe turbidity of the washing water. Youcan save water with the AquaSensor.Use of the AquaSensor depends on theprogramme. If the soiling level is low,the washing water is used in the nextwash cycle, allowing water consumptionto be reduced by 3-6 litres. If the soilinglevel is higher, the washing water isdrained off and replaced with fresh wa-ter. In the automatic programmes thetemperature and running time are addi-tionally adjusted to the level of soiling.

Detergent

DetergentDetergent

Find out which detergents are suitable for your appliance.

Suitable detergentsOnly use detergents that are suitable for dishwashers. Both separate and combined detergents are suitable. For optimum washing and drying res-ults, use separate detergent and "Rinse aid" → Page 26 separately.Modern, powerful detergents mainly use a low-alkaline formulation with en-zymes. Enzymes break down starch and remove protein. Oxygen-based bleach-ing agents are generally used to re-move coloured marks, e.g. tea or ketchup.Note: Follow the manufacturer's in-structions for each detergent.

DETERGENT DESCRIPTIONTabs Tabs are suitable for

all cleaning functionsand do not need to bemeasured out. With shorter Pro-grammes tabs some-times do not dissolveentirely and leaveresidues of detergent. This may impair thecleaning effect.

Powder deter-gent

Powder detergent isrecommended forshorter Programmes. The dosage can be ad-justed to the level ofsoiling.

DETERGENT DESCRIPTIONLiquid deter-gent

Liquid detergentworks faster and is re-commended forshorter Programmeswithout PreRinse.Sometimes liquid de-tergent may leak outdespite the detergentdispenser beingclosed. This is not afault and is non-crit-ical if you rememberthe following:● Only choose a pro-

gramme withoutPreRinse.

● Do not select timerprogramming forstarting the pro-gramme.

The dosage can be ad-justed to the level ofsoiling.

Separate detergentsSeparate detergents are products that do not contain components other than detergent, e.g. powder detergent or li-quid detergent. With powder and liquid detergent the dosage can be individually adjusted to the level of soiling of the tableware. For better washing and drying results and to avoid damage to the appliance, please additionally use "Rinse aid" → Page 26.

Combined detergentBesides conventional separate deter-gents, a number of products are avail-able with additional functions. These products contain not only detergent but

Page 29: 6 PROFFSIG - ikea.com

29

also rinse aid and salt replacement sub-stances (3in1 and, depending on the combination (4in1, 5in1, ..., additional components such as glass protection or stainless steel cleaner. If you are using combined detergent, the washing programme is adjusted auto-matically to ensure the best possible washing and drying result.

Unsuitable detergentsDo not use detergent which could cause damage to the appliance or present a risk to health.

DETERGENT DESCRIPTIONHand wash-ing-up liquid

Hand washing-up li-quid can cause in-creased frothing anddamage the appli-ance.

Detergentcontainingchlorine

Chlorine residue ontableware maypresent a risk tohealth.

Information on detergentsFollow the instructions on detergents ineveryday use.● Detergents marked as "organic" or

"ecological" (environmentallyfriendly) generally contain lowerlevels of active agents or completelydispense with certain substances. The cleaning effect may be restrictedhere.

● Set the rinse aid to the separate de-tergent or combined detergent in use.

● To prevent sticking, only touch deter-gents in a water-soluble pouch with dry hands and only ever place them in a dry detergent dispenser.

● Even if the rinse aid refill indicator light up, washing pro-grammes will run properly with com-bined detergents.

● The function of rinse aid is limited with combined detergents. You will generally get better results using rinse aid.

● Use tablets with a special drying per-formance.

Adding detergent1. To open the detergent dispenser,

press the locking latch.2. Add the detergent to the dry deter-

gent dispenser.

Insert the tablets in a hori-zontal position. If you are using powder or liquid de-tergent, follow the manufacturer's in-structions and quantities for dosagein the detergent dispenser.20 ml – 25 ml detergent is sufficientfor normal soiling. If tableware isonly lightly soiled, slightly less thanthe amount of detergent specified isusually sufficient.
