History Glimpse: “Adoro te devote, laetens Deitas.” These words, Latin for “I devoutly adore you, O hidden God,” come from the first line of a hymn attributed to St. Thomas Aquinas. They are fittingly inscribed in the gold interior of the tabernacle of our St. Patrick’s church. The tabernacle’s design is the work of the Building Commit-tee’s Design Team (Fr. Schweiger, Mary Ellen Kudron, Steve Bieber, and Kevin Clark). Intended to suggest the Jewish temple of old, the tabernacle is 38½” tall and 22¼” square. The doors from the old tabernacle were replated for use in the new, and Irish knotwork decorates other sections to incorporate a touch of St. Patrick’s Irish heritage. The words ”Sanctus, Sanctus, Sanctus” (Holy, Holy, Holy) adorn a top band, announcing the sacred presence within. The custom design and old doors were sent to a company for production. Father Schweiger ex-plained to the Parish Counsel that custom work like that takes a whole different level of expertise, and so it would take some time for the company to construct the taber-nacle. There were some difficulties, but Father Schwei-ger happily announced to parishioners on August 7, 2016, that the new tabernacle was finished and was on its way home to St. Patrick’s. The tabernacle did arrive, and was blessed by Father Schweiger at the 10:00 Mass on August 28, 2016. As Father Schweiger wrote in the bul-letin for that Sunday: “The Eucharist is the heart and center of our spiritual home.” Through the work of the Design Team and the sponsorship of generous parish do-nors, the tabernacle is truly a fitting house of God for our church.!!Mass Intentions Offer ing Masses for loved ones, liv-ing or deceased, is a great act of charity. Mass intention envelopes are available in the back of the church.!!! Happy Father’s Day! Why not take Dad out for

breakfast? We have gift cards to Engine House, IHOP, Krispy Kreme, and many more! Please take a

moment and stop by the Scrip window today! !
