The Golf Summit: a Pivotal Moment
http://www.sommetdugolf.ca/
Planning for a golf season is the same as playing a
golf round. You must think about your strategies,
plan your next strokes, chose the right tools and
analyse your performances as you go to make sure
your next course of action will be successful.
Altogether, this is pretty much the story of Golf
Québec throughout a golf season.
As Executive Director, I am proud of our
achievements and of Golf Québec’s contribution in
the dynamic promotion of golf development.
We are constantly reminding everyone on how
crucial it is to open our provincial courses to
children, women, and families. Golf Québec is
pursuing its initiatives in order to achieve this goal.
Obviously, we can’t do it alone. We need the whole
industry to step up to the plate and we are about
to get this opportunity.
The 19th hole: Golf Summit at Bromont
This 2015 golf season will have quite a different
ending. Likewise to a group of players gathering at
the 19th hole after a great golf round, a major
event is about to bring us all together to reflect on
our situation.
Every golf association of the province and golf club
managers will meet for a three-day convention at
the end of the year as the first edition of the
Québec Golf Summit will take place from
December 8 to 10 at Château Bromont.
An important milestone for the industry
This event is the logical continuation of the field
survey conducted in the summer of 2013 towards
2,941 golfers as we were trying to identify the
irritating factors encountered in the golf industry
and potential solutions to improve our situation.
The results of this analysis enabled the Québec golf
industry to have a better understanding of the
active and inactive markets’ potential, clearly
identify the profile of its golfing clientele, and
review data pertaining to golf in tourism.
A unique opportunity to share ideas
Training and information sessions will be organized
by each participating association in the first two
days of the Summit. Workshops will also be offered
at large to exchange ideas on club management,
course maintenance as well as development
programs. Everything is lined up to share
knowledge, expertise and see the big picture.
The last day of the Summit will be an absolute
must. In the morning, guest speakers coming from
everywhere in Canada and the United States will
address our industry stakeholders. Among others,
the topics of their presentations will include how to
attract new clientele, design a course, analysis of
the current Canadian industry explaining the
causes of our issues and suggesting possible
solutions. In the afternoon, an animated debate
will facilitate sharing ideas and opinions on the
pleasure of playing golf and the necessity to
develop heroes.
Finally, a gala evening will
provide the opportunity to
celebrate special contributors
of the industry for the year
and recognize their
exceptional achievement
whether it is in
administration, course maintenance as well as
sports and organizational performances.
We hope to see many stakeholders of the industry
at the Golf Summit. It cannot be missed!
Thank you for another great golf season.
Château Bromont will be host to the first Golf
Summit from December 8 to 10, 2015.
2015 Fundraiser Tournament
$62,410 Collected For the Next Generation
http://golfquebec.org/nouvelles_voir.asp?CodeN=1210
A great golf celebration took place on September
30 at Club de golf Le Fontainebleau where many
guests of our industry as well as business people
participated in the 9th edition of the Golf Québec
Fundraiser Tournament. This annual event was
presented under the Honorary Co-Presidency of Mr.
Réjean Delisle of Marché aux puces Métropolitain
and former star player of the Montréal Canadiens,
Yvan Cournoyer.
With the help of our numerous participants, donors
and partners, the amount of $58,410 that was
originally announced after completion of the event
was brought up to $62,410 as an additional
contribution came up. These moneys will be used
to support the integration of the Golf in Schools
program in elementary and high schools as well as
of the CN Future Links program in golf clubs.
Altogether, over $551,000 was collected through
the nine editions of this key fundraiser to promote
the sport development of new young golfers.
“The future clientele of our sport is currently
attending school. At first, these young golfers will
be playing on shorter courses to eventually
graduate to regular golf clubs where they will enjoy
spending some time with their parents or friends.
One day, we truly hope that they will bring their
own children to the golf
course. At Golf Québec, we
organize this annual golf celebration to ensure that
today’s children who are introduced to our sport
are becoming tomorrow’s clientele. This is the
heritage of the Québec Golf Federation to the great
game of golf”, explained Marcel Paul Raymond,
President of Golf Québec.
Golf Québec would like to take this opportunity to
thank its main partners: Marché aux puces
Métropolitain, Groupe Park Avenue, Club de golf Le
Fontainebleau, ClubLink, Gouvernement du
Québec, the Fondation de l’athlète d'excellence du
Québec, GGGolf, Golf Griffon des Sources, Golf
Château-Bromont, Rolls Royce, and RDS. Many
thanks also go out to numerous donors who
contributed to the success of this event.
From School to the Golf Club
“Under the theme “From School to the Golf Club”,
this Fundraiser Tournament pursued a series of
ongoing fundraising initiatives. We truly believe
that no other theme is more representative of the
motivations that move us, namely growing the
game and building its future”, adds Jean-Pierre
Beaulieu, Executive Director of Golf Québec.
As part of this campaign, Golf Québec promotes its
six golf development programs that are specially
designed for children and their families. They are:
Golf in Schools, Golfmobile, CN Future Links, First
Drive, She Swings, She Scores, and the Junior Golf
Development Centres (JGDC). Throughout
activities proposed during the day, participants of
our Fundraiser Tournament had the opportunity to
discover some of these programs first-hand.
For example, our golfers were invited to take part
in a CN Future Links Junior Skills Challenge.
Through fun setups on the course of Le
Fontainebleau, their putting, chipping, iron play,
and driving skills were put to the test and points
were awarded based on their performances.
Everything was designed to
recreate the ambiance of a
Junior Skills Challenge as
they are conducted by CN
Future Links facilities to serve
as qualifiers for the annual
national competition
presented by Golf Canada.

Future Links Junior Skills Challenge

Participants of our Fundraiser Tournament also had
the opportunity to live the Golf in Schools
experience. For this purpose, they had to complete
the play of a par 3 with the standard equipment
that is used on a daily by Phys. Ed. teachers in
their gyms. As a result, they were able to
appreciate the quality of resources provided to
participating schools establishments and they have
a better understanding of how crucial adopting a
school is for the sustainability of this development
program.
Financial Support to Young Athletes
Golf Québec and the Fondation de l’athlète
d'excellence du Québec also took this opportunity
to announce the second group of recipients of the
Golf Québec/FAEQ Scholarships Program. Overall,
they proudly awarded a total of $72,000 in
individual scholarships presented to 26 young
promising golfers aged from 13 to 19 years old and
who are identified as “Espoir”, “Relève” or “Élite”
athletes by Golf Québec.
10th Anniversary at Laval-sur-le-Lac
In 2016, Golf Québec will celebrate the 10th
anniversary of its Fundraiser Tournament at the
prestigious Laval-sur-le-Lac Golf Club. This
announcement and passing of the torch were made
with the club representatives, Luc Martin, Vice-
President, Luc Lapointe, General Manager,
Raymond Richer, Golf Professional, and Steven
Brosseau, Golf Director. Don’t miss it!

Golf Québec and the Fondation de l’athlète
d’excellence du Québec took the opportunity of the
Fundraiser Tournament held on September 30 to
announce the recipients of the 2nd edition of the
Golf Québec/FAEQ Bursary Program.

http://bit.ly/1NdQbtP
Golf Québec president, Marcel Paul Raymond, and
Fondation de l’athlète d’excellence du Québec
(FAEQ) President, Claude Chagnon, distributed a
total of $72,000 in individual bursaries to 26 highly
promising golfers aged between 13 and 19, as part
of the 2nd edition of the Golf Québec/FAEQ
Bursary Program.
The program was born of the two organizations’
common desire to financially support and provide
guidance to young golf student-athletes, all while
raising awareness about the importance of
pursuing and succeeding in an academic career
alongside a career on the greens. Eleven generous
donors have contributed to the project: Hason
Steel, Claude Chagnon, Marc Dalpé, Fednav, F.
Furst Enterprises LTD,
Fondation des Gouverneurs de Québec, Fondation
Roland Beaulieu, Groupe Park Avenue, William
Molson, Peacock Family Foundation and Raymond
Royer.
Marcel Paul Raymond, Golf Québec president,
highlighted the importance of the partnership. “The
program’s main goal is to intervene directly in the
development of young golfers at all levels. We see
that several of this year’s recipients were also
recognized last year, which confirms that the
financial support they received has allowed them
to continue their evolution, and that their
performances truly reflect the hard work they’ve
put in. We also have new emerging recipients,
which shows that Golf Québec’s investment in
guidance has been fruitful. I would like to thank
the Foundation and all of our generous donors for
lending their support to make these young golfers’
dreams come true.”
Jean-Philippe and Mathilde Denicourt as well
as Lory and Audrey paradis received their
bursaries from Marcel Paul Raymond, Golf
Québec President, and Claude Chagnon, FAEQ
President
http://on.fb.me/1I18bjm
Claude Chagnon, FAEQ
president, said, “This year
marks FAEQ’s 30th
anniversary, and we are
delighted and grateful for the
generosity of the new donors
who have contributed to the Foundation over the
past year. The Golf Québec/FAEQ Bursary Program
rewards golf student-athletes who stand out in the
classroom and encourages them to pursue a
healthy golf/study balance. It is with great pride
that we say that Golf Québec, our precious donors
and FAEQ are united for our golfers’ academic,
athletic, and professional success.”
There were two types of bursaries: the Academic
Excellence Bursary, designed to celebrate the best
school performances, and the Support to Academic
and Sport Performances Bursary, which is
encouraging athletes to maintain a fair balance
between their sport activities and studies, a crucial
challenge for many high level students-athletes.
Jean-Philippe Denicourt, Thomas Vallières
and Laurent Desmarchais are proud to be
supported by the FAEQ

The goal of this fundraising campaign is to raise $1
million over five years. The first $375,000 will be
provided by Golf Québec, and will be used to give
coaches and training infrastructure a boost, to
ensure that these essential elements can provide
all that is required for the full and complete
development of Quebec’s young golfers.
Another $625,000 received from generous donors
in the private sector will be used to create the
bursary program announced today. Thanks to
donors’ philanthropic efforts, $340,000 has already
been gathered in donations and commitments and
will permit the immediate support of 51 bursary
recipients in two years.

Four Golf Québec Members Chosen to Represent Team Canada As
Part of the 2016 National Squads
http://golfquebec.org/nouvelles_voir.asp?CodeN=1214
Golf Canada announced the athletes who have been
selected to represent Team Canada as part of the
2016 National Amateur Squad and Development
Squad. Golf Québec is proud to see that four of its
members, two boys and two girls, are part of this
elite group of most talented golfers in the country.
http://golfcanada.ca/fr/equipe-canada/
Hugo Bernard (Mont-St-Hilaire, QC), a member of the Laval-sur-le-Lac Golf Club, is returning to Team Canada after a hiatus as he was a member of the 2013 Development Squad. The 20-year-old was runner-
up at the 2015 Canadian Amateur and also earned
top-five finishes provincially at the Alexander of Tunis, Duke of Kent and the Men’s Provincial Amateur Championship. He captured the Québec Men’s Amateur title in 2013 as well as the 2012 Provincial Junior Boys’ Championship.
Josée Doyon (St-Georges-de-
Beauce, QC) of club de golf Beauceville, is joining the National Amateur Squad as a rookie. Doyon is coming off a remarkable season that featured a win at the NIVO
Women’s Provincial Amateur Championship in
addition to three collegiate victories for the Kent State Golden Flashes. The 22-year-old’s junior season earned her Mid-American Conference Golfer
of the Year honours. Now in her senior year, Doyon currently sits at No. 61 on the WAGR.
The Team Canada Development
Squad will also welcome the new Canadian Junior and Juvenile Champion, Charles-Éric Bélanger of Royal Québec who just had the best season of his young career.
Aside from his national victory, Charles-Éric won
the individual flight of the Williamson Cup presented in Pennsylvania as well as Golf Québec’s Junior Spring Open, Provincial Junior Match-Play Championship, and CJGA Québec Open on the
provincial stage.
In addition, another member of Golf Québec was appointed to the Development Squad. Ottawa’s Grace St-Germain, a member of the Camelot Golf & Country Club, won the 2015 CN Future Links
Pacific Championship and finished 3rd in the
Ontario event. In Québec, Grace was crowned at the Junior Spring Open as well as at the Graham Cooke Junior Invitational, and ranked 2nd at the NIVO Women’s Provincial Amateur Championship. “We are very proud of our young Québec athletes who were appointed to the National squads. Their
work ethics and constant efforts displayed in their training methods are truly commendable. This selection also highlights the development programs delivered by Golf Québec towards our young elite golfers. Our determination to provide them with efficient support and adequate structures as well as
to train competent coaches has proved to be successful,” mentioned Jean-Pierre Beaulieu, Executive Director of Golf Québec. Jocelyne Bourassa, Inducted in Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame http://golfquebec.org/nouvelles_flash_voir.asp?Cod
eN=389
Ms. Jocelyne Bourassa who was inducted in Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame. Living legend of women’s golf in Canada, she honoured on October 21, in Toronto, where the whole sports community had gathered to celebrate her contribution as well
as 10 other inductees, including Québec athletes Nicolas Gill, Jennifer Heil, and Danielle Goyette. Jocelyne Bourassa established herself as one of the top golf athletes and builders in Canada. Jocelyne was a Université de Montréal graduate, who played
on the men’s golf team since there was no women’s team, making a lasting impression that would drive
her desire to support female golfers. In her playing career she won three Québec Junior crowns in a row (1963, 1964, 1965), four Québec Amateur championships (1963, 1969, 1970, 1971) and was a member of Québec’s teams on eight occasions between 1962 and 1971. Jocelyne was also successful nationally, capturing two Canadian Open
Championship crowns (1965 and 1971) and was runner-up in 1968. Internationally, she won the Scottish Girls title (Scotland, 1967) and the New Zealand amateur crown in 1971 and was a member of Canadian teams in the 1970 World Championships and 1971 Commonwealth Matches.
In 1973 Jocelyne became the only Canadian to
have ever won an LPGA event on home soil before being forced to end her playing career due to a knee injury in 1979.
Jocelyne Bourassa https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6NH27R6sro Jocelyne’s contributions and commitment to golf have gone well beyond her outstanding athletic career to have been one of golf’s exemplary
builders. In a male dominated sport, Jocelyne championed the development of women’s golf and led a tradition of excellence. She has worked with Canadian golf associations and the Canadian PGA to initiate developmental programs for young female
golf professionals. When Jocelyne founded the du
Maurier Series in 1980 what would become the Canadian Women’s Open in 1980 there were less than 20 professional women golfers. Today, thanks to her tireless efforts, there are over 150. Jocelyne served as the Executive Director of the du Maurier Classic Canadian Women’s Open for over 20 years. She also served on the LPGA Board of Sponsors
including a role as Vice President. In 2013, her 40th anniversary of winning the LPGA event called
la Canadienne sponsored by Jean-Louis Lévesque, as part
of a “Give to the Next Generation” initiative, Jocelyne financially supported a young golf professional to help her integrate into the LPGA tour.
Jocelyne is a role model and mentor to women golfers across Canada and has served as a senior consultant with Golf Québec that developed a program to bring golf to primary schools. The Royal Canadian Golf Association created the Jocelyne
Bourassa Player of the Year Award, in recognition
of her tremendous contribution to the game of golf, which is given annually to the Canadian Women’s Tour player who is the top finisher on the Tour’s Order of Merit. Jocelyne became a Member of the Order of Canada in 1973. Highly respected, Jocelyne is considered in an affectionate way as
Canada’s ambassador of golf.
